"Three more intruders have arrived. One bears the same scent as you."

"I...I don't..."

"Our people can smell the blood that ties family together."

""To our people blood and loyalty is everything. We could smell that you three shared that blood, though her scent is much weaker," the Dynast said as he gestured toward Asajj. "Your elder's desire to protect you and his fearlessness in doing so was worthy of praise, so we were willing to grant him the opportunity to let you be healed. That being said all three of you shall be judged-"

I just realised that the Noghri consider Ventress to be family to Ciaran due to her genemods. So now Ciaran can tease her forever about Asajj's position as Sister! being declared official.

I have to agree that Silas is acting incredibly stupid by screaming and throwing out empty threats. It's not something you'd see a wily old smuggler doing, especially with his granddaughter on the line. It seems odd that Talzin can effortlessly overpower the equivalent of a Jedi Master halfway across the galaxy, but if that's canon in the EU, alright. Asajj just showing up definitely strains a lot of suspension of disbelief, as I can think of no reason for her to be trailing right behind Silas unless you use the shatterpoint as an excuse, which feels kind of handwavey. And even after just recovering from a witch curse, a skilled Force combatant backed by mastery of Matukai shouldn't lose a physical confrontation to anything smaller than a rancor, regardless of if they're a master unarmed fighter.

I think another problem with this is the show don't tell problem. Also Ciaran getting captured felt like stright from video game where badass MC gets captured in unbeatable cutscene.

I'll bring out the example, roll the clip:

In context, Talzin nearly voodu dolled Dooku to death.

We could say that Force Bond announces that Ciaran was in danger... and I think Ciaran set up that she'd be close after seeing what happens without her there.

The Noghri were Thrawn's answer to how to protect himself from Force Users before he got the all powerful plot lizards. Ciaran might have power, but she's not really a hand to hand fighter, relying on the Force to make herself tough and powerful. The Noghri focus on speed and precision to deal many painful blows quickly. I agree with Ciaran at one hundred percent she could have won, but she'd nearly been killed by Force Magic just a few minutes before.

Silas tends to have a fairly extreme response to Ciaran being in peril, remember how many people he had killed when Ciaran was nearly assassinated?

If you can't remember we have body parts in The Vault as a trophy to that.

Here's the Wookieepedia article on Stava, the Noghri martial art.

I don't know much about Bajiquan, but my first thought was of Silat, the Indonesian martial art featured in The Raid. Very fast, very offense-oriented, smoothly integrating hand-to-hand and weapon work.

Those knives definitely would qualify as "fighting sickle".

Far as Talzin incapacitating from across the galaxy? It's canon she does that to Dooku, who could probably match us.

Crippled in that way rather suddenly, she could probably get grabbed.

I know how I'd put together Talzin and that force ability in tabletop, and with it being likely a persistent condition until talzin drops dead, Ciaran couldn't use the Force as well as at 100% to access matukai abilities. Throw in that she's facing an unarmed master? It seems sensible that she could lose.

This is all informed by the thing at the beginning about shatterpoint fates being set in stone. Shades of "I knew this was coming and that it would suck but would ultimately be worth it. "

OOOOH! I thought it was the force bond somehow...don't know how that would work when they can't perceive the force...
