Squandering Talents
Ciaran walked into her office that morning, prepared to deal with whatever the day had to throw at her. Or so she had assumed. While HK-47 standing in the middle of her office, in front of the desk wasn't surprising per se, his posture was definitely odd. Arms crossed, staring unflinchingly towards the door, the prized assassin droid barely reacted to her entrance. If she hadn't seen his head move a fraction of an inch, Ciaran would swear he was powered down.
"Good morning, HK. What can I do for you?" asked Ciaran, ready to hear out the droid's request, likely to kill something.
"Silent Treatment: …" Ciaran and HK-47 waited in silence for a moment as Ciaran registered what he had said and paused to give him a chance to continue speaking
"I'm sorry, what?" Ciaran lightly shook her head, as if to clear up some unaddressed trouble hearing.
"Silent Treatment: …" repeated HK-47, once more refusing to speak again. Rather than waste her time asking again for further clarification, Ciaran began looking around the room, as if the carpet and walls would somehow hold the answers she was looking for.
Salvation came in the form of PR-1 walking through the doorway. "It appears HK-47 found out you assigned Jango Fett to the elimination of Maul and decided the proper way of lodging a complaint is to behave like he's fresh off the assembly line."
"Statement: Unlike you bucket of bolts, I am handcrafted." said HK-47, taking offense at the turn of phrase rather than the implication of his juvenile behavior.
"Oh, so you'll talk to PR-1?" asked Ciaran.
"Silent Treatment: …" Ciaran stared at HK-47 as if she could melt his chassis with her mind.
"You know I assigned you to the Foundry, right? There will be plenty of violence and killing for you to partake in, and all things considered it's a far more important job than what I've put Jango on."
"Silent Treatment: …" Ciaran turned to PR-1 and gestured emphatically.
"You know Lady Ciaran assigned you to the Foundry, right? There will be plenty of violence and killing for you to partake in, and all things considered it's a far more important job than what she's put Jango on." said PR-1, repeating Ciaran's objection.
"Statement: My primary function is assassination, with a focus on Force sensitive beings." Said HK-47. "Master does not wish to use my talents against the Jedi, which I begrudgingly accept, and there is a notable lack of Sith. However, now one has shown up, and my Master would prefer the meatbag dead. But still my talents languish."
"HK, I-" began Ciaran.
"Silent Treatment: …"
"PR-1, tell HK-47 that once the Foundry is retaken, I will be needing several high ranking political figures *taken care of*. I would be most grateful if he would lend me his talents at that time."
"HK-47, Lady Ciaran has informed me that once the Foundry is retaken, she will be needing several high ranking political figures *taken care of*." It was strange hearing that kind of emphasis from her protocol droid. "She would be most grateful if you would lend her your talents at that time."
"Determination: I will endeavor to retake the Foundry at once." said HK-47, sounding as giddy as his voice chip would allow as he practically skipped out of the room.
Ciaran sighed. "Inform the raid teams to get ready immediately. I don't think he'll be waiting up for them."
AN: It's almost silly how we
need HK-47 on the Foundry, despite the elimination of Maul and Savage being tailor made for him. I probably find it funnier than he does though.
Originally titled "The Silent Treatment". Changed because I want to save that one for if I ever write an omake featuring the Silencer.
