I read the quest but I can't seem to remember that incident. Can you give more detail about what happened?
IIRC, it was when the Gardener of Nurgle had basically taken everything we could throw at it, only making everything worse, and the options were basically 'try again and probably die' (nothing we had was hurting it), or 'run away and the entire star system gets pulled into the Warp'. So the Players decided on "Fuck it, become a Tree", and decided to basically let the crystal-trees eat us alive while we biomance them into dragons and attack the Greater Daemon.
Then again, there was also the incident where she was stuck in the Warp fighting that Dark Elder fuck, and after it died there was all those other Daemons ready to tear us apart, and she made a high enough Will Save to the point where Khorn was like "y'all have some serious balls" and helped us out in the fighting.
And then there was the time where she ate a Changer of Ways. . .

I actually don't think the rolls were all that crazy, just a bunch of high rolls and near crits that put our PC solidly on the Supernatural spectrum. Which wasn't all that big a problem, except that the setting was supposed to be low-fantasy, with no real magic outside the Apostles(?) like it was in the original GATE. So the QM rewrote the setting to be more High-fantasy so that we were less of an outlier, so we could actually grow and advance in things. IIRC, the QM had mentioned that in hindsight the tables he were using had probably skewed things that direction. As for the boss that died, he talked about him in posts between updates. 'There is no GATE' doesn't tend to have lots of super crits, just lots of consistently high rolls that cause things to snowball. How high are we talking in character creation? I would like some numbers on that. And I'm pretty sure that high roll was a nat 100. Though I could never find the backstory or what that guy was supposed to be.
edit:
I think he means PHO, as in the interlude style used in Worm and it's fanfics.
