Ohhh. Nice. I'm pretty sure that Tala also mentioned about her master being a guy who went around cheating gods as a major MO. That would probably be enough to draw that connection too... and once we've got that... well, we may or may not know exactly which gods he's cheated, but gods are constantly up in each other's business anyway. If Hades wants to know, then Zues is going to want to know just because Hades wants to know... and so forth.

I suspect he's pissed off a fair few demons along the way, too.

Then again, he was probably doing that anyway; Felix Faust is not a stupid man, and Dekan Drache is.
I can confirm that this is more or less correct. Dekan remained in the driver's seat most of the time but Felix was the one choosing the destination that he'd navigate towards.
Wait. Vanished how? Like, do we know? Teleported away? Flew out a window when windows in our tower should be nigh-impossible to open? Phased through the wall?
Teleported away. There wasn't any accompanying flash of lights or smell of brimstone or anything like that and so the teleportation appeared as though Dekan simply vanished. Mercy and Lex don't definitively know what happened but they know he's not in the building by any detectable measure (no heat signature, weight displacement or visibility on cameras) and whilst it is a bit of an assumption to make that Dekan didn't immediately kill himself when he vanished I feel it's one they can pretty safely make and so while they don't definitively know that he teleported away, they can confidently claim that he almost certainly teleported away.
I suspect he's pissed off a fair few demons along the way, too.
Yup and they're high ranking enough that you could also sell the information to lesser demons as well (and they'd be interested because their boss is interested). A lot of pieces of Faust's soul are already in hell in the hands of some demon or another and so plenty of them would be interested in having an opportunity to attempt to complete the set.

Well that worked wonderfullly. If felix was always just dicking around and could have disposed of dekan at any time then it's for the best that we handled him.

Alliance is good enough. Shame to lose mercy but we can't really trust anyone else but Nygma to effectively observe the league and he'd be dead in half a year from testing Ra's patience.

Atlantis went really well.

Alien will play well into alliance as since we established a direct line of communication with the league there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to talk to mercy.

The only problem is that our communications is run thru the L-Phones, which I think brainiac just took out. One of our write in votes should be to send Nygma and Felicity to the super computer and use it to get our network back online. In addition to helping coordinate against brainiac, it'll be a massive boost to credability and allow us to push forward with getting government grants to develop some national government Cybersecurity/monitoring network, neatly cornering the US market. Anyone who doesn't accept it is made suspicious by proxy and we can take actions to spy on them.

While I'm at it I'd like to suggest we make a Spyware Lab next time we finish a lab vote. Our existing stuff is good but developing some personal equipment for Nygma and others could come handy now that we are going to lose mercy's bonus for the most part.

Talia doesn't have the same coop rate so we need to compensate and the development of such will allow her more opertunities to push the benefits of modernization to the league members she brings with her.

Sudden thought, do we still get to determine the personal action of whoever we send to the league?

Shouldn't suggest any allies yet. Should give time for both sides delegations to integrate before rocking the boat with a third party. I'd suggest the first ally not be someone as overtly pro lexcorp as Queen B. It's sets a bad tone and encourages Ra to Veto our suggestions.

Bringing in Black Adam, once his service to the US is over, is more elequent, and we'll still have some of his favor for revealing felix. It's bring more raw magical power into the group, and the league would be suited to tracking down felix, who will be a threat going forth.

I'm not a fan of losing any of our hero units here but I especially don't want to lose our right hand woman who is an extremely flexible unit that is useful in just about any scenario

I'd also like to point out to people that this isn't a short term thing like Rose going on leave, Mercy will be gone for as long as our alliance stands or we swap her out for someone else and since we want this to be a long term alliance and we're unlikely to find someone we're willing to send in her place we're basically giving up Mercy permanently

I'm genuinely shocked that people think this is even remotely a good idea

Can anyone explain for me what Edward Wells' qualifications are aside from "not being Mercy?" I haven't got the idea that he's especially loyal, or that he's especially gifted as a master of intrigue, or anything like that.

If I had to choose someone else besides Mercy I probably wouldn't have picked him first.

We need more trustworthy and competent lieutenants if our most valuable and loyal lieutenant is the only one we can afford to send as an ambassador here. Hopefully this won't come back to bite us.
We have several trustworthy and competent lieutenants, the main problem is that most of them have limitations.

Leonard Snart is good at what he does but works best as a team lead, not a solo agent.

Katherine Kane is as good at Mercy but we usually try to limit her exposure to the seediest and nastiest stuff we do because of lingering worries that whatever part of her turned her into a superhero in canon might come back to bite us.

Pamela Isley is both loyal and competent but is already doing this kind of duty, from a certain perspective- we made her head of the EPA. She'd be very good at this otherwise.

Roxanne Sutton is loyal and competent but a bit more specialized because she's a daredevil.

His main qualifications in my opinion are:

1) He's the option that it hurts the least to lose
2) He doesn't care about the more immoral things the League will get up to
3) His strict military viewpoint actually fits in rather well with the League
4) While he's not a master of intrigue he is fairly capable at it
5) Despite not getting along with most of our other heroes and having anger issues Edward is actually reasonably capable of following orders from and respecting his commanding officers
6) Even if Ra's were to somehow flip Edward he doesn't know anything worth the effort
7) If something were to happen to reveal Edwards connection to the League it would be far easier for us to disavow him than it would be for us to to do so for Mercy and far less damaging for us
8)Worst case scenario Edward does something stupid and we replace him

I'd also like to point out that unlike us with Mercy Ra's isn't sending his most trusted lieutenant, that would be Ubu, nor is he sending Talia out of respect but because she volunteered for her own selfish reasons

It's precisely because she's our right hand that we need to send her. Roxannes a puplic entity we have had working with our sponsored hero, and isn't suited to keeping tags on the league. Edward wells lacks the loyalty. One offer of immortality thru lazarus pits and he's probably compromised. Katherine is too much of an Idealist and nygma to likely to cause the alliance to break down when Ra inevitably kills him.

Mercy has experience dealing with the league both as an enemy and an ally. She won't be lulled into a false sense of security or stop looking for hidden operations no matter how honest or upfront the league is at first. She has a high coop score with a lot of our other hero's so if we need to expand our presence later she'll be capable of working with them.

It's a case of failure to build up any substitutes who's loyalty, ability, and proffesionalism can match hers. We have been gathering scientist, magicians, military leaders, and meta humans, while allowing our security to remain mostly co-dependent or loners ill suited to working with others, except for mercy. She's the only one suited for the job. It's also not permanent, just not something immiediately reversable. Eventially we can maybe have a substitute.

For now all is not lost. We have Rose. Mercy trained her. We have been building her up for a few years. With jinx scheduled to be Cassandra's right hand Rose can rise to fill mercy's shoes, and after a few years we can either swap the two or keep her depending on her development.

We can also develop an alternative on the side. If we can wrangle our heroine/intern from bruces clutches and develop her skills along the right path she'd be perfect for monitoring the league in place of mercy. Her tech, stealth, close combat skills, augmented by proper tech, would make her perfect. It's a matter of loyalty and subverting her moral views just enough that she thinks she's doing the right thing and serving as a check on the league. Ra would even be intrigued by her former association with batman enoughto avoid killing her if our relationship went sour in the distant future.

Even if Ra's were to somehow flip Edward he doesn't know anything worth the effort
Except he is supposed to keep an eye on the league to keep them from betraying us or hiding slip ups. Having him subverted gives the league the ability to backstab us.
7) If something were to happen to reveal Edwards connection to the League it would be far easier for us to disavow him than it would be for us to to do so for Mercy and far less damaging for us
And his complete lack of loyalty means there is nothing to stop him from selling us out to save his own skin. Neither Ra nor mercy are idiots. In the event of Mercy potentially being outed it's easy to frame the situation as the league kidnapping her and Lex keeping it secret because he is reputed as a very private and secretive individual. A few false situations where Ra's agents die to Lexcorp Retaliation and get brought back by the lazerous pits and vice versa and we easily sell the ruse of two organizations at odds with one another.
8)Worst case scenario Edward does something stupid and we replace him
With mercy if it happens any time in the minimum 8 turns it'll take us to prepare any other kind of substitute and increase there loyalty to the appropriate level. Better to just send mercy and avoid the screw up or having our hero character subverted by Ra and build someone up to replace her in the coming turns.

You did lose Dekan but he was already Felix Faust's sock puppet and Faust was pushing him to look into Rebecca and robots and exo-suits so he could hijack one of them as a body. There would have been a roll if Dekan and Rebecca ever got assigned to the same action to see if Felix just straight up took control of her body or not.

I have to say the fact that Rebecca doesn't have a soul due to being a homunculus is kinda sad. Not that it seems to affect her much if at all. Still if sufficiently advanced AI can grow a soul why can't her?

Lack of need. Some creatures can function without them, and without any issue of her quality of life or self direction relating to it's absence there is no need to grow one.

Sudden thought, do we still get to determine the personal action of whoever we send to the league?
The answer is sometimes. There's no real distinction though between the character you send to the league and the one you don't when it comes to your ability to determine their personal action. I do rotate in and out characters available for you to select their personal action but I can say that whatever character you send to the league will probably have personal actions for you to choose from while at the league.
The only problem is that our communications is run thru the L-Phones, which I think brainiac just took out.
Brainiac did take down L-Phone's by basically making them non-viable for communication while he's near earth. He also basically DDoSed the entire internet all at once in order to take it down simultaneously and he's trying to mess with any technology reliant on the transmission of signals by simply cluttering the airwaves with as many signals as he can create all at once (which has such wonderful side effects as messing with the viability of automatic garage door openers during his invasion for example).
I have to say the fact that Rebecca doesn't have a soul due to being a homunculus is kinda sad. Not that it seems to affect her much if at all. Still if sufficiently advanced AI can grow a soul why can't her?
So a few things about homunculi and souls. Firstly I'd like to point out that all homunculi are artificially (and almost certainly intentionally) created. If Rebecca is a homunculus then that means that at some point someone or something made her to accomplish a task.

Secondly homunculi can develop souls but they do not inherently start off with one. In fact a soulless homunculus is typical of a new homunculus and a homunculus that doesn't realize its status as a homunculus and thus cannot really recognize itself as a distinct entity (if a homunculus is simply following the programming of "think the way you were created to think" it'll take it much longer to develop a soul). I can't get to into it due to it being potential spoilers but there is something going on here.

Thirdly despite souls being important in a metaphysical sense they aren't really for day to day functioning. A soul isn't really necessary to living and functioning on a material plane at all (I'd argue that things like amoeba don't have souls but they can still function and live without any issues). The Manhunters that the Guardian's created also lack souls but that doesn't make them any less threatening or capable of acting in the real world.
Lack of need. Some creatures can function without them, and without any issue of her quality of life or self direction relating to it's absence there is no need to grow one.
Not really. If the development of a soul was tied to a need of one to function then no creature would ever develop a soul as souls kind of don't matter when speaking strictly of living and acting in the material plane.

I can't get too into it as it ties to spoilers but souls have more to do with metaphysical self-recognition as a distinct entity than anything related to life processes.

I think that after we help Helena with her revenge she will become loyal enough to send her in Mercy's place. So, Mercy will be absent for approximately as long as Rose.

Roxannes a puplic entity we have had working with our sponsored hero,
And Mercy is well known to be out head of security and right hand woman, her being seen with the League is more incriminating than any of our other heroes
Edward wells lacks the loyalty. One offer of immortality thru lazarus pits and he's probably compromised.
We have no reason to believe that Ra's has any interest in subverting whoever we send not to mention the people he lets use the Lazarus Pits can be counted on one hand and even if Edward did turn, which I find unlikely, he doesn't know anything anyway
And all of those are reasons why we can't afford to lose her for god knows how long
It's also not permanent, just not something immiediately reversable. Eventially we can maybe have a substitute.
Yes eventually but if we're setting the bar so high that our only option is supposedly our right hand woman who's been with us since the beginning then that time can be counted in real life years
For now all is not lost. We have Rose. Mercy trained her. We have been building her up for a few years. With jinx scheduled to be Cassandra's right hand Rose can rise to fill mercy's shoes, and after a few years we can either swap the two or keep her depending on her development.
This is of course ignoring that Rose has also just gone on leave for the next several turns and banking on someone who doesn't even really like us that much becoming the next Mercy when she has her own shit to worry about
We can also develop an alternative on the side. If we can wrangle our heroine/intern from bruces clutches and develop her skills along the right path she'd be perfect for monitoring the league in place of mercy. Her tech, stealth, close combat skills, augmented by proper tech, would make her perfect. Ra would even be intrigued by her former association with batman enoughto avoid killing her if our relationship went sour in the distant future.
Let's be honest, that's never going to happen
Except he is supposed to keep an eye on the league to keep them from betraying us or hiding slip ups. Having him subverted gives the league the ability to backstab us.
Except we have no real reason to suspect they will and Talia wants this alliance to last enough that she would oppose any plan to do so
And his complete lack of loyalty means there is nothing to stop him from selling us out to save his own skin.
I don't know where this idea that Edward is completely disloyal comes from, he's not our most devoted employee but he's a good soldier that is loyal to his commanding officer
Except that is extremely difficult to sell, especially depending on the context when she's caught and none of the people who matter will buy it

Also again you're vastly overestimating how willing Ra's is to let others use the pits
With mercy if it happens any time in the minimum 8 turns it'll take us to prepare any other kind of substitute and increase there loyalty to the appropriate level. Better to just send mercy and avoid the screw up or having our hero character subverted by Ra and build someone up to replace her in the coming turns.
You are of course assuming that Edward would screw up immediately, which we have no guarantee of, and even if he does I'd rather have Mercy for those theoretical turns it would take to create a viable replacement
I think that after we help Helena with her revenge she will become loyal enough to send her in Mercy's place. So, Mercy will be absent for approximately as long as Rose.
I'm not sure about that, Helena is far from a saint but I imagine she'd draw be mine at some of the terrorist shit they get up to

Especially since they don't mind targeting children which is a huge no-no for her

So this is entirely unrelated to the main discussion of the current update but I was curious to potentially get some feedback on an idea. I got the idea for a potentially really fun Halloween omake where at night Mr. Mxyzptlk makes people become whatever their costume is (someone wearing a vampire costume becomes, acts like and is convinced they always were a vampire). I figured it would be a fun omake but I realized that such an idea works best with a lot of different costumes for different characters. As such I'd appreciate the threads help in throwing out some costume ideas for various characters.

Here's a few ideas I have

Superman & Poison Ivy are wearing Vampire costumes (The Irony would be hilarious)

Jinx would probably dress up as a witch.

Dr. Moon or Karl Helfern would act as a Excellent Frankenstein's Monster.

Edit: Here's a few extra ideas.

Mari McCabe fits rather well as a Werewolf

This one's a bit esoteric but perhaps Carl Draper can be turned into a haunted house or possess Lexcorp since he'll probably be the guy examining the Halloween decorations.

Edit 2:

There are two options I've come up with Riddler. Either he can dress up as a scientist or he can pick some obscure Monster so that he could flex his Intelligence.

Katherine Kane could either complement or contrast Ivy's costume. For instance if Ivy were to dress up as a Vampire. Katherine could dress up as a Vampire to complement the look or dress up as Van Helsing to contrast it.

Oswald Loomis as a clown

Constance and Vivian could dress up as Conjoined twins

Meena seems like someone who would dress up Einstein.

Silver Banshee as a ghost.

Rebecca as a Demon

Roxanne as a one of those old-school Ace pilots or an astronaut

Robert Frost as the Tin Man from Oz

Lady Vic will probably dress up as royalty

Pamela:Robot
Katherine: Plant woman.
Bruce Wayne: Dracula
Dick Greyson:Werewolf
Alfred: Priest
Barbara: Vampire hunter
Cassandra: Batman
Jinx: Batgirl
Jason Todd: Robin ( just because he hasn't appeared in the story yet doesn't mean he wouldn't be dressed up for halloween. This can be a great side appearance and we can find out where he is. If he's in metropolis and joins the halloween bat trio for alls hallows eve heroics? Well thats just good writing.)
Dr. Moon: A frog mid disection with it's guts hanging out.( I hate this guy)
Clark: steriotypical martian invader
Luise Lane: Flaming Skeleton

@King crimson could lexcorp decide to have a bit of fun and rent a building to decorate as Arkham Asylum for it's halloween Party, including highering a few people to dress up as actual inmates?

Clark Kent's costume is almost solidly set in stone as "Clark Kent". Mr. Mxyzptlk is basically going to be a dick and mess with him by claiming Clark Kent is Superman's halloween costume and use that as a loophole to keep Superman aware of what's going on but unable to use his powers like he normally does. Clark's likely going to be one of the viewpoint characters as he's one of the few who will realize that people have been transformed and thus set out to stop it.

It's an omake that isn't necessarily canon so the answer is yes. No character, set piece or plot point is off-limits for this story even if I'm sticking to having Mxyzptlk only affect Metropolis.

Nygma can dress as a Sphinx.
I feel like Caitlin is a nerd, so maybe Aayla Secura(to accommodate her new skin tone)?
Lex as a Vulcan (Spock)?
Oswald would probably be kid friendly, wizard?
Lisa may be red riding hood.
Mick is probably lazy enough to wrap himself with bandages and call it a day.
Len as a Ghostbuster.
Felicity as Velma.

Sorry for doubleposting.

I want to see Len as a Ghostbuster (Peter?), Felicity as Velma and Nygma as a Sherlock Holmes to solve this case.

I dunno. Katherine's ability and professionalism match Mercy's, she just has some degree of conscience. Mercy's pretty much totally amoral and kind of sadistic, while also being extremely loyal. That's a damn hard combination to duplicate.

Leonard's ability and professionalism match Mercy's, and he's pretty loyal in the sense of "won't quit because we do nasty shit," but he works better as a team lead so he's not a great choice for this- without him, the Rogues are leaderless.

Pamela's ability and professionalism match Mercy's but in different areas, and she's if anything more loyal than Mercy... but we already have her doing something else so she isn't available for this task.

We can also develop an alternative on the side. I'd honestly rather rely on Helena Bertinelli for this than Barbara Gordon.

Babs is much more of an idealist.

The only real problem with Helena is that we just haven't worked with her very often.
