Bane is missing out on a ****ing gold mine right here :p

As far as strong man dictators go, having one that is literally capable of giving a double german suplex to other world leaders is endless in propaganda value.

Even if they're meant jokes, jokes can be affectionate as well as mocking or at the very least mocking someone else. (I am somewhat joking, but it is an angle I could see him take in the future.)

I admit I don't actually know much about Bane. I know he was in prison for most of his childhood, was experimented upon (resulting in venom) and is very intelligent.

But aside from that and I imagine being related to the War on Drugs originally given his various, shall we say motifs (OOC) I don't know what his deal is etc.

I guess I'll just hope that Bane becomes...well not a hero, but at least realises that oh so misunderstood statement of Machiavelli is usually correct and he's in a good position to put into practise by presenting a contrast to the previous dictator.
from what I understand about bane is he is someone who thinks crime has to be controlled and he also wants to beat batman cause he saw visions of bats as a child and sees that as something that says he should beat batman

So I'm not going to go too in depth talking about Bane but I do think there are a few key elements to keep in mind when thinking about him.

The first is that Bane's motivation is not to be a dictator or rule a country. His endgoal is to defeat the strongest man he came and claim his place at the top of the food chain. This has since warped due to childhood dreams he had of a bat-monster, into believing that he as to go and defeat Batman in order to claim his destiny and become who he was meant to be. Now this is not exactly normal thinking and is heavily influenced by his childhood (it's basically the whole prison fight mentality of "if you beat up the toughest, scariest guy in the room you become the toughest scariest guy" applied to contexts where it shouldn't) but when you start looking at his reign in that light some things start to make sense. Bane doesn't care about ruling Santa Prisca so much as he cares about using Santa Prisca as a springboard to go after his real prize.

The second thing (and this one's a lot more subjective) is that a solid thematic of Bane, at least in my opinion, is missed potential. Here's a guy who's incredibly tough and brilliant and could have been absolutely an incredible force for good and instead he wastes all of his potential due to the environment he grew up in causing him to take stock in and focus on the wrong things so that he ultimately becomes a bad person. People talk about Batman villains all being mirrors to him in some way, I see Bane as a Batman who grew up without any nurturing or care from parental figures, a sort of thematic statement that Bruce Wayne needed to have once been a happy child raised by good people in order for Batman to really work. Fundamentally I like to write Bane with that sort of thematic in mind and so as part of that thematic of wasted potential, Bane's rule of Santa Prisca is going to be marked by that same sort of wasted potential.

Turn 28 Results Part 3
Hey everybody. This took me a decent amount of time to get together. Certainly longer than I wanted it to. That being said this is also the longest results part 3 by about a thousand words or so and change (and this is after I moved some stuff like what's going on with Germany, Emily Rice, China and more to the World News section). A lot of this stuff ought to be decently interesting and it'll begin setting up the event that is coming soon. I enjoyed writing a lot of this stuff and I managed to bring back some old characters who dropped out of the story for a good long while and introduced a few more long running plotlines that are just sort of going on in the background. I hope people are excited to explore some of this stuff as not all of the plot threads are going to be resolved just because Brainiac is causing a big world-changing event (which is going to have some really interesting fallout regardless of how it plays out).

I did write this over a lot longer of a period of time than I wanted to and this week is hectic as hell for me IRL and so if people catch a mistake of some kind please point it out and I'll do my best to correct it. Additionally I enjoy seeing people's questions and comments about the material. While I've been kind of awful about sticking to schedules, I encourage people to continue to post stuff in the thread, even when I'm not there and I'll do my best to respond to stuff in a timely manner. I've rambled on enough, without further ado here is the next update. Hope you all enjoy!

Turn 28 Results Part 3

Others Actions

Superman
[ ] Defeat and capture the Charger
DC 31
Roll 74 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

With the return of Superman it seems as though new villains have started to come out of the woodwork to challenge him. An individual going by the alias of "Charger" decided to try and fight Superman head on in the middle of Centennial Park. The electrical menace was handily defeated by Superman and put into prison but the equipment that Charger had on him was too high-tech for him to have been operating entirely on his own. Something odd is going on and so it might be worth looking into. It's annoying that Superman continues to receive credit for "heroics" but there's nothing you can do about it right now.

Results: Charger defeated and captured, public opinion of Superman improved, new actions related to the person supplying Charger with technology now unlocked

[ ] Investigate Toyman's arrest
DC 168
Roll 112 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Miserable failure

It appears that Superman's time off planet has left him just rusty enough to make some critical errors. Superman swiftly figured out that something was wrong with Toyman's arrest and used his contacts in the prison to try and investigate. The attempt to do so blew up in his face both literally and metaphorically. The Toyman that was placed in prison was not Winslow Schott, but rather a robot meant to mimic his appearance with a kryptonite based bomb buried deep inside of him. As soon as Superman entered the same room as the robot the bomb detonated, dealing damage to both Superman and the prison. Superman ended up recovering from this injury after a week or so but his reputation has been heavily damaged. The explosion blew a hole in the prison the robot was placed in and let a good number of criminals escape back into the city. The police have taken this as a sign of Superman making everyone's job harder and the public is not quite as forgiving of this mistake as they might've been back when Superman was the only "hero" of Metropolis. You can't deny that seeing Superman brought low brings you a sense of catharsis even if it wasn't done by your hand as you'd prefer.

Results: Toyman learns that a strong enough Kryptonite bomb can kill Superman, Superman's reputation at an all-time low with the police who now view him as an active problem, public opinion on Superman slightly sours, multiple villains released, imprisoned Toyman revealed to be a robot, Nemesis guage -5, new options opened up

Lois Lane
[ ] Publish an article detailing Superman's time in space
DC 0
Roll 97 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Outstanding success

Lois Lane has quickly reestablished why she is a thorn in your side as soon as she was released from the hospital. Her article on Superman's experience in space has proven to be a massive hit and while the positive PR for the alien infuriates you, you can't deny that it's both well-written and that the information contained within. The idea that there's a large interstellar democracy known as the United Planets, the apparent collector of civilizations Brainiac and just the general better sense of what's really out there is intriguing. You just wish that the information wasn't being filtered in such a way so as to make Superman look good. It's annoying how Superman earns international acclaim for an experience that only occurred because he failed. Regardless while you aren't fond of the result, you can begrudgingly concede that at least Lois Lane's article was well-written and interesting.

Results: Lois Lane earns a lot of acclaim as a journalist, the world learns that Lobo is the last Czarnian, the world learns of the United Planets and the "Legion of Superheroes" of which Superman has met Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy, the world learns of the alien collector Brainiac who Superman believes he killed when he blew up his ship, the world receives confirmation that the Green Lantern corps is an interstellar organization and that they are currently at war with a "Yellow Lantern corps", Nemesis guage +20, new options opened up

Helena Bertinelli AKA Huntress
[ ] Kill Stephen Mandragora
DC 46
Roll 41 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare failure

Helena took her shot and she missed. It appears that Batman had managed to deduce her target well enough and interfered in her attempt. Helena managed to land a crossbow bolt to the shoulder of Mandragora but the gangster ended up surviving the injury due to receiving prompt medical attention from competent doctors. Helena eventually managed to get away from Batman long enough to escape into her civilian guise and then make the arrangements necessary to carry out your deal but because of her failure she will inevitably try again. Furthermore Batman may end up attempting to bring her in again. Still having another talented individual on LexCorp's roster means that what occurred wasn't really a loss for you personally.

Results: Helena fails to kill Stephen Mandragora but succeeds in severely injuring him, DC increased on Batman's ability to track Helena, Helena Bertinelli joins LexCorp

Wade Eiling
[ ] Push for laws meant to restrict Superman and other individuals like him
DC 30
Roll 41
Decent success

Wade Eiling has continued to support your political plays even if he's taken time to mostly focus on other endeavors. Eiling has informed you that he's going to be shifting to using his influence to deal with matters of international diplomacy for a while so he likely will not be continuing to aid you on this front. Still despite all of this Eiling has managed to do enough to support your aims for now and has continued to remain steadfastly committed to working with you as an ally

Results: Aided Lex Luthor's push

Diana Prince
[ ] Push for laws meant to restrict Superman and other individuals like him
DC 20
Roll 39 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

Diana Prince has similarly continued to aid your efforts in shaping the laws that will define the country's relationship with costumed vigilantes going forward. Diana's assistance is still contingent on you ensuring that her stipulations are put into place with the final law but it seems that she trusts you to carry out that part of the deal and has continued to aid you on that front.

Results: Aided Lex Luthor's push

[ ] Start a metahuman employment campaign
DC 0
Roll 42
Impressive success

On the other hand Diana has been more active with a different political issue. Talks have been going on around Washington DC that a bill that would allow employers to deny metahumans employment on the basis of them being metahumans is in the works. Nothing concrete has materialized as of yet but Diana is doing her level best to potentially nip such talk in the bud due to it running counter to her attempted campaign of integration. Diana's current drive to encourage people to hire metahumans and to not discriminate against them in the workplace is making decent enough headway but it's unclear if it'll make sufficient ground and sway enough minds if and when something does materialize that would make such discrimination legal.

Results: More metahumans find legitimate employment, general public sentiment towards metahumans becomes more positive overall

Project Damocles
[ ] Attempt to graft Atlantean biotech onto soldiers
DC 315
Roll 319 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare success

Sometimes it seems as though Project Damocles is invested in being as horrifying as possible. The attempt to graft Atlantean biotech onto volunteer soldiers is a logical one. After all the sooner the US can make use of that technology the better and if they could advance and integrate it well then that's just another step in the right direction. Unfortunately nobody in Project Damocles fully understands how Atlantean biotech works so their attempts to graft it onto a human subject all failed. However, where the unethical ideas of General Goode's think tank were incapable of succeeding, Tala was able to produce a result. She was able to magically graft a bit of Atlantean technology onto a test subjects arm through the use of magic. The subject was in horrific pain the entire time, suffered from intense health complications and eventually died when their body gave out due to being unable to meet the energy demands of the device but Project Damocles has proven that at the very least they can graft the technology onto living soldiers even if they can't keep them alive for very long after the operation.

Results: Project Damocles successfully fuses Atlantean biotech onto a live subject who later died of medical complications proving that it is possible, new options available

Count Vertigo
[ ] Declare war on Markovia
DC 0
Auto-success

With Count Vertigo's recent "discovery" that the assassins behind the attempt on his niece's life had ties to the Makovian royal family, he has obtained the casus belli to declare war on this neighboring nation. The world doesn't currently have it's eye on either of the two countries but at the same time it seems as though no one is going to interfere on principle alone. All in all it seems as though Vertigo will get the war he wants

Results: Markovia and Vlatava now at war

[ ] Attack Markovia
DC 23
Roll 92 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Stupendous success

Of course Vertigo didn't leave things up to chance. Using his knowledge of Markovia's defenses as well as the resources he has gathered and positioned in preparation for this event, Count Vertigo launched an attack on Markovia hours before he declared war on them. With Markovia utterly unprepared the Vlatavan forces were able to effortlessly steamroll past the borders of the country and envelop a solid fifth of the country. Whilst the fighting has grown a lot more intense now that the initial assault is over, Count Vertigo has claimed a not insignificant amount of land in the opening moves of the war. He has also jokingly stated that he has a catalogue of castles for you to pick from if you want a rush order, or he can deliver one to you after the war once his holdings are solidified. Count Vertigo's boldness may cost him in the long run but at least the war against Markovia is proceeding well.

Results: Vlatava conquers a fifth of Markovia, Markovia able to start fighting back but struggling a fair bit, Castle Catalogue subvote

Tobias Whale
[ ] Explain the situation to LexCorp
DC 27
Roll 58 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

When last you'd heard of Tobias Whale he'd escaped from Blackgate. Before that he'd earned your ire as a criminal element in Metropolis who only managed to save his life through clever deadman's switches and putting himself under constant observation by legitimate authorities. Now the gangster has once more turned up in another city. Whale has proven to be a big fish in a small pond in Dakota city and he has become a major underworld figure. Whilst he has no interest in working with you he also has no interest in working against you. At the same time he has no intention of uprooting himself again to avoid your wrath and so he'd like to work things out diplomatically first. Talking things out with him might prove productive but as you've learned from the last time he arranged a meeting with you, Whale is surprisingly canny and is always looking for an edge to stay on top of things.

Results: Learned that Tobias Whale is a powerful figure in organized crime in Dakota City, Working with Whale subvote

Black Adam
[ ] Provide LexCorp with information on magic
DC 0
Auto-success

Black Adam has begun to carry out his end of the deal when he started ensuring that various data-disks containing his general knowledge about magic have been delivered to LexCorp. It's by no means complete and the information he sent you is incredibly dense, confusing and poorly organized but the information is there. Black Adam's focus on gods, demons, true names, the underworld and magic user known as the wizard Shazam are the most stand out elements of what is contained within those files but they are by no means everything contained within them. Black Adam has promised to send you more data to fully fulfill the spirit of your agreement.

Results: Gained Black Adam's information on true names and their role in ancient Egyptian magic, information about ancient Egyptian gods and artifacts, information about the wizard Shazam and the Rock of Eternity, information about demons that is notably incomplete outdated and confusing, information about the ancient Egyptian realm of the dead, information about Felix Faust, information about the basics of necromantic theory, information about ancient Babylonian mages and information about the terrifying dragon locked away in the Rock of Eternity known as the Three Faces of Evil. Numerous new options opened up

Wayne Enterprises
[ ] Produce more video games
DC 42
Roll 64 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

Wayne Enterprises has proven to be interested in expanding the ubiquity of their dominance in the video game market. They've created their own publishing studio and have continued to produce more and more games while at the same time encouraging third party developers to publish on their platform. The Waynestation might not be completely dominating the market but its proven to be a very popular console and a continuous money maker for Wayne Enterprises.

Results: Waynestation gets more games and grows more popular increasing profits for Wayne Enterprises

[ ] Begin selling more pharmaceuticals
DC 102
Roll 133 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

At the same time Wayne has continued to start to compete with you far more heavily in the pharmaceutical market. With the company's experience in work related to the medical field as well as their larger centers of production they've come to corner more of the market. While they haven't knocked Deux D'Aramis out of the game they do seem intent on ensuring that they remain dominant in that area and if it means driving Deux D'Aramis out of business then they are willing to go there.

Results: Wayne Enterprises makes a good amount of money and corners more of the pharmaceutical market

[ ] Produce and sell better computers
DC 66
Roll 97 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

Wayne Enterprises has continued to make moves to retain its status as a captain of industry with their push towards providing the public with better computers. Their improvements on the processing capabilities of their computers has given them a significant upgrade and their continued focus on user friendliness has ensured that they continue to make profits by selling to the largest number of consumers as possible. It's not a total domination on their part so much as it is a continued reaffirmation that they will not stop providing quality products and services

Results: Waynetech computers prove popular and make Wayne Enterprises a good amount of money

[ ] Begin selling better home appliances
DC 21
Roll 68 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

Additionally, on top of all of this, Wayne enterprises has once again entered into the home appliance market to try and take as much as they can from that industry as well. They've actually succeeded in challenging a few of the fields LexCorp had securely sat as the dominant force in and in general this new line of appliances has proven to be rather successful. It's again by no means complete market domination but it seems as though the company is intent on continuing to push and challenge you in a wide variety of fields, if not the ones you are most dominant in.

Results: Waynetech appliances prove very popular and corner a decent portion of the market, Wayne Enterprises makes more money

Kord Communications
[ ] Produce and sell PDA's
DC 58
Roll 84 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

It appears that Kord communications is now stepping up to the plate to challenge your dominance in the cell phone market. While they are not directly competing with you, the PDA's they are now selling are very similar to L-Phones, if significantly more optimized towards business than the average consumer would want. They've not unseated your dominance in that market by any means but they've started to create their own little niche which is potentially problematic if you don't make moves to challenge them.

Results: Kord PDA's created and mildly popular amongst extremely focused business people whilst being irrelevant in all other markets.

Bane
[ ] Attempt to open a Santa Priscan embassy in Gotham
DC 30
Roll 37 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare success

Bane has continued to campaign to have Gotham upon a Santa Priscan embassy and eventually, with copious amounts of donation payments, Bane ended up getting his wish. Gotham has agreed to allow a Santa Priscan embassy be opened up. However the embassy will only be completed in about a years time meaning whatever Bane wants to get done in that city will have to wait a while longer before he can set his plan into motion.

Results: Bane loses a large amount of money, Santa Priscan embassy will be built in Gotham in at least four turns

Brotherhood of Evil
[ ] Create Chemo
DC ???
Roll ???
Spectacular success

It appears that the Brotherhood of Evil has replicated the success of Dr. Magnus' Metal Men. Unlike the Metal Men, this new creation, Chemo, has proven to be made of a multitude of substances and is immensely durable and capable of plenty of things the Metal Men are not. Eyewitnesses have noted that Chemo can speak French and so it can be deduced that Chemo is likely both intelligent and sentient. This is a rather chilling discovery and it has caused a good amount of fear as the Brotherhood of Evil have increased their strength by gaining a powerful new member.

Results: Chemo created and has all of the capabilities of the Metal Men and more, the Brotherhood of Evil become some of the most wanted terrorists in the world.

[ ] Contact Lex Luthor
DC 0
Auto-success

The Brain is a cunning individual and has managed to contact you in a rather disturbing way. The Brain somehow managed to teleport a phone into your office and then called it. Naturally you didn't answer the phone yourself and made sure to work through a mechanical interpreter but the Brain seemed immensely interested in cutting a deal with you. The Brain offered his and the Brotherhood of Evil's aid in fighting off a potential alien invasion if they could use that time to earn temporary amnesty and reduce how wanted they are by world governments. Alternatively the Brain is willing to still aid against the alien invasion provided you can provide him with a place to work in peace where the Doom Patrol cannot find him. You are uncertain of how much the Brain can be trusted but at the very least his offers ought to be considered.

Results: Bargaining with the Brain subvote, learned that the Brain can teleport phones

Batman
[ ] Defeat and capture the Mad Hatter
DC 36
Roll 64 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

The Mad Hatter has been involved in something in Gotham and has notably been kidnapping many wealthy individuals and using mind control technology to then get them to anonymously donate money to a fund of his. The Batman eventually managed to catch onto this scheme and capture the Mad Hatter, returning the money he stole in the process. Jervis Tetch has once more been remanded to Arkham and due to the involvement of multiple important politicians in this latest scheme the Batman has begun to gain even more fame in the world at large even if he still doesn't have a stellar reputation.

Results: Batman becomes more known to the world at large, Mad Hatter put back in Arkham

[ ] Defeat and capture Bad Santa
DC 22
Roll 51 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

Adding onto the wild state of Gotham, Batman's latest foe that he captured was a homeless psychic who dressed up in a Santa costume. The criminal, nicknamed "Bad Santa", would apparently read the mind of passerby and then attempt to murder anyone who he judged to be "naughty". Only in Gotham do things like this happen but the fact that there is a known psychic that could potentially be exploited and analyzed does open up some opportunities for you.

Results: Bad Santa captured and placed in Arkham, new options opened up

Batgirl
[ ] Recapture Humpty Dumpty
DC 8
Roll 53 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

Humphry Dumpler AKA Humpty Dumpty, is a man with severe mental issues who only wants to help fix things. However due to his own disabilities, his attempts at fixing people often result in serious injury or death as he uses an excessive amount of force to attempt to "correct" things. He recently ended up escaping from Arkham due to "the nice lady letting him out" and ended up wandering into an old folks home where he saw lots of people he thought were broken. Before Humphry could attempt to fix things and inadvertently murder someone, Batgirl confronted him. The entire altercation occurred non-violently and was caught on camera. Batgirl eventually managed to talk Humphry down and get him to willingly return to custody without putting up a fight. However Humphry's escape suggests someone deliberately let him out and there are currently no leads on that. Still Batgirl is currently being considered a hero for being willing to not just fight criminals but also to attempt to use diplomacy when possible when dealing with people like Humphry.

Results: Humphry Dumpler returned to Arkham for treatment, Batgirl recieves a substantial boost in popularity, it becomes public knowledge that someone deliberately released Humphry but not who.

Zatanna
[ ] Put on a show for LexCorp
DC 0
Roll 43 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

Zatanna has finally completed all of the terms of your initial deal with her and put on a magic show for LexCorp employees to enjoy. The show was supposedly spectacular and while you didn't end up watching it, it did end up significantly improving morale for the average worker at LexCorp. The increase in positive spirit likely won't last forever but it's nice to have it for a bit. Who knows maybe the stage show managed to convince a few people to take your more esoteric divisions a bit more seriously.

Results: Significant morale boost for LexCorp employees, DC on some magic related options slightly reduced

Selina Kyle
[ ] Campaign for public office
DC 0
Roll 38 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

Selina Kyle has continued her endeavors to run for public office in Gotham. Whilst a lot of her proposed policy implementations have scared off the richer members of Gotham from voting for her, she's proven to be immensely popular with the poorer people of Gotham. Her constant donations and giving away of money to other people has solidified her as the "people's candidate". She's by no means universally beloved as some people consider her a hypocrite or a potential danger but she is managing to make waves in Gotham's political scene.

Results: Selina continues to gain popularity as a candidate, Selina earns the ire of Gotham's wealthy elite who absolutely do not want her to win

Queen Bee
[ ] Begin subverting elements of HIVE
DC 100
Roll 144 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

Queen Bee has made swift use of your resources to start cannibalizing as much of HIVE as she could. Whilst she was unable to get the entire organization under her sway all at once she has managed to subvert a not inconsiderable chunk of the organization. Of the things she has grabbed, she's recovered a fair few metahumans, a handful of drones that resemble people and the location of their creator, one Professor Torgo. Queen Bee has sent over the drones that resemble people to you and promised you that the creator is the other part of her way of starting to pay you back for the serum you gave her. All in all even though she hasn't made much headway in fully dismantling thing, progress has been made.

Results: Queen Bee subverts a chunk of HIVE, Queen Bee obtains multiple metahumans including Billy Numerous, Queen Bee provides LexCorp with a handful of Life Model Decoy Drones and promises to send their creator to LexCorp as well.

Green Lantern (???)
[ ] Capture and defeat the Tattooed Man
DC 39
Roll 46 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare success

With the debut of a second Green Lantern its become even more clear that there is an organization of some kind behind them. However this new Green Lantern has not endeared himself well to the public in his debut. He did end up taking down the Tattooed Man, a criminal with the power to animate the ink on his skin into constructs, but the collateral damage that ensued in the following fight ensured that the public is not incredibly fond of this new Green Lantern. The redheaded Green Lantern appears to have taken this all in stride and is unphased by the negative opinions people have formed about him.

Results: Tattooed Man defeated, new Green Lantern makes his debut and is disliked by the public.

[ ] Capture and defeat Karshon
DC 33
Roll 78 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

Despite his rocky start however the new Green Lantern did manage to make some friends when he ended up defeating the rogue Atlantean shark-man, Karshon. Karshon apparently decided to try and attack Coast City to loot it of its valuables but the new Green Lantern handily defeated him and his men. Instead of turning him over to the US authorities however, the new Green Lantern turned Karshon over to the Atlanteans. The new Green Lantern then followed up this blatantly political move by stating that he's not on earth to play politics. The US government has grown to highly dislike and distrust this new Green Lantern but the Atlantean government has developed a far more positive opinion of him. An unintended consequence of this Green Lantern acting like an ass is that now people refer to the previous Green Lantern in much better turns. It's annoying and you have no idea who he is or what he wants. Carol is obviously enraged regarding the situation and its become clear that this new Green Lantern could prove to be a dangerous x-factor in your plans.

Results: Green Lantern defeats Karshon, earns the enmity of the US government, becomes popular and respected by the Atlanteans, Popularity of Hal Jordan increased

Green Arrow
[ ] Confront Deathstroke
DC 23
Roll 26 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare success

Green Arrow managed to track down Deathstroke, the mercenary who put Moira Queen in the hospital, and attempted to confront him to get some answers. Despite doing better in this fight, Green Arrow still ultimately lost the battle to Deathstroke. The two of them talked about something and it's unclear what words were exchanged between the two of them but it is known that Deathstroke got away and Green Arrow focused on making sure no one else got to Moira Queen in the ensuing time.

Results: Deathstroke and Green arrow meet, Deathstroke once more escapes and leaves, ???

[ ] Prevent Constantine Drakon from assassinating Moira Queen
DC 28
Roll 64 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

Apparently whoever hired Deathstroke to kill Moira Queen was willing to hire more assassins to make sure she finds eternal peace. The Greek assassin Constantine Drakon is a renowned martial artist and a dangerous threat. However this time around Green Arrow was able to handily defeat the assassin who went after Moira before anyone got hurt and Constantine has since been carted off to prison. It seems as though this hero is starting to once more find his footing.

Results: Constantine Drakon defeated and captured with no casualties

The Flash
[ ] Capture and defeat Girder
DC 16
Roll 59 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

The Flash has once more gained popularity after dashingly defeating a dangerous metahuman. The criminal known as Girder escaped from prison and managed to break into a nuclear reactor where he threatened to forcibly cause a meltdown if the people in charge didn't pay him 5 million dollars in ransom money. However before this scheme could succeed the Flash arrived on the scene and ended up defeating Girder. With the amount of attention on this case the Flash's reputation managed to once more improve.

Results: Girder defeated and returned to prison, nuclear meltdown averted, the Flash gets increased popularity with public and grudging respect from the government

[ ] Capture and defeat Trickster
DC 50
Roll 69 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

Another costumed criminal, the Trickster, has made his debut in Central City. This criminal was not a metahuman and instead relied on a variety of gadgets to pull of things like walking on air. The Trickster completely outmatched the police and so eventually the Flash took him on. The Trickster was surprisingly dangerous and slippery but in the end the Flash managed to take him down without much incident.

Results: The Trickster sent to prison, new options opened up

[ ] Race for charity
DC 0
Roll 100 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Sensational success

The Flash apparently decided to make use of his newfound popularity and charisma to attempt to do good beyond just capturing criminals the cops can't contain. The Flash organized an event to race against a series of racecars to raise money for a variety of children's hospitals. The spectacle of the event managed to draw in a large crowd and ultimately a lot of money was effectively donated to ensure that children could receive treatment. The Flash easily won the race and his unique way of using the celebrity of being a superhero to do good for his community has made him absolutely adored in Central City

Results: A lot of money raised for Central City children's hospital, Flash's popularity explodes in Central City where he is the most popular figure there

Elongated Man
[ ] Announce his status as a superpowered detective
DC 0
Roll 41 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success

Alongside the Flash, a new superpowered individual has made their way to Central City. The Elongated Man, an individual with the power to stretch himself and contort his body into fantastic shapes, has moved to Central City and announced his intention to serve as a superpowered sleuth for hire. This is an interesting development and has been well-received by the city. It seems as though Central City's superheroes are starting to find significant success

Results: Elongated Man makes his debut and sets up his business in Central City to significant success

Knight and Squire
[ ] Capture and defeat Death Dinosaur
DC 36
Roll 73 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

Britain's primary superheroes, Knight and Squire, have made international headlines when they stopped the dastardly supervillain, Death Dinosaur, from stealing a nuclear weapon from Britain's government. The heroes have stayed out of the spotlight but it his become fairly clear that they are just normal humans using gadgets. The UK government has grown to tolerate them and they serve as proof that the rest of the world is developing their own superheroes and villains even if they aren't all as well known as the ones in the United States.

Results: Death Dinosaur captured, Knight and Squire earn some international acclaim

[ ] Capture and defeat Toxic Tucker
DC 14
Roll 65 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Astounding success

On top of their previous success the duo managed to contain the poisonous supervillain known as Toxic Tucker and prevent him from attempting to poison the English channel in an attempt to forcibly activate the powers of other metahumans so that there could be more people like him. Toxic Tucker has been sent to prison and Knight and Squire have been taken by more human supremacist elements in Europe as proof of how normal humans can defeat metahumans and how governments ought to monitor their metahuman citizens. Knight and Squire haven't commented on the issue but they've gained a good deal of popularity.

Results: Toxic Tucker captured and defeated and his plans are foiled, Knight and Squire popularity somewhat increased, Knight and Squire popularity unintentionally massively increased amongst human supremacist factions in Europe.

[ ] Capture and defeat Black Banshee
DC 61
Roll 74 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

In addition to all of this the duo of heroes have taken on the supervillain known only as Black Banshee. Black Banshee has powers incredibly similar to that Silver Banshee possesses and was attempting to covertly travel to Gotham. The criminals he hitched a ride with were all killed as soon as the boat left port. Knight and Squire ended up confronting him on the boat and after a hard fought battle, they managed to capture and restrain him and impound all of the weaponry being illegally transported on the boat he was on. Black Banshee was captured and sent to prison but his true motives remain unknown.

Results: Black Banshee captured and defeated, new options have opened up

Captain Marvel
[ ] Defeat Demons
DC 19
Roll 88 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Spectacular success

A new hero, who appears to be imitating Superman, called Captain Marvel ended up fighting off what appeared to be a bunch of demons that manifested in the middle of Fawcett city. Captain Marvel has already proven to be immensely powerful and handily defeated those demons without causing too much damage. Already people have started comparing the hero to Superman. You're not really a fan of Captain Marvel but so long as the big red cheese stays out of your way you're content to leave him be.

Results: Captain Marvel debuts in Fawcett city to spectacular success and handily defeats the demons that were rampaging there. Captain Marvel's popularity has grown enough that people have begun comparing him to Superman even if the two aren't seriously being regarded by the nation as being in the same league just yet

Daizo Uehara
[ ] Capture and defeat Lord Death Man
DC 21
Roll 17 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Bare failure

Daizo Uehara and his Tokyo troopers were put to the test when they had to confront the costumed criminal Lord Death Man. Whilst they were able to prevent him from robbing a bank with his henchman, in the ensuing firefight it was believed that someone shot and killed Lord Death Man, who then later escaped fro mthe morgue when it turned out that he was not in fact dead. Such a failure has gotten a bit of egg on Daizo's face although he is still trying to spin it as a positive whenever possible.

Results: Lord Death Man is unable to rob the largest bank in Tokyo but he and all of his men get away from the police and escape capture, Daizo's perfect record is now no longer perfect.

[ ] Fight crime
DC 40
Roll 70 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Significant success

However when it comes to the more mundane types of crime the Tokyo Troopers have proven to be quite effective. They've successfully effortlessly captured more minor metahuman criminals and have ensured that Japan is kept safe. As such despite the blunder with Lord Death Man both the public and the government have maintained their face in Daizo's division.

Results: Criminals captured, Daizo Uehara and the Tokyo Troopers maintain positive impressions and reputation

Herbert Winston
[ ] Attempt to locate his missing daughter
DC 0
Auto-fail

Herbert has continued to look for his daughter and has found absolutely no success in doing so. With the impending crisis coming on it seems like no one is all that interested in continuing to search for her. Still his focus on such matters isn't all that problematic from your end of things and so it's not a situation you need to interfere in overmuch quite yet.

Results: Herbert Winston continues to be unable to find Amy but is currently maintaining his sanity

Leslie Willis
[ ] Insult and belittle Superman
DC 0
Roll 66 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Stupendous success

With Superman's return and his subsequent failure regarding the Toyman robot, Leslie Willis has been eager to tear him a new one over the radio and her vitriolic commentary on the supposed "Man of Steel" has only grown more popular in Metropolis given time. Leslie's show is at an all time ratings high and on top of that her own views on Superman have grown increasingly radicalized as an echo chamber has started to form around Leslie regarding her views on Superman. All in all the opinion on Superman has continued to sour amongst the general Metropolis populace and especially amongst those who listen attentively to Leslie.

Results: Leslie Willis decently diminishes Superman's public reputation, Leslie Willis violently radicalizes a decent sized group of Metropolis citizens to be violently anti-Superman, nemesis gauge -3, Leslie Willis' popularity and fame skyrocket, a small minority of people become more anti-Leslie due to viewing her as profiting off of tragedy, Leslie Willis' listeners grow in number

Japan
[ ] Continue construction of the Tokyo Institute for Metahuman Citizens
DC 50
Roll 79 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Decent success

Japan has continued to make steady progress on the construction of their equivalent to the Charles McNider School for Metahuman youth. The institution is coming together even if the usage of money has become a touch less efficient than when they started out. Still everything is still proceeding more or less according to schedule.

Results: 3 more successes needed for the construction of the Tokyo Institute for Metahuman citizens, moderate DC spike on the action if repeated

????????
[ ] Disable all worldwide communication systems
DC 20 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Roll 264 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Planetary success

The alien entity has launched what seems to be the first strike in an invasion attempt of some kind. The method used is brutally simple but hints at a horrific kind of capabilities and intelligence directing the attack. All internet systems that are publicly available suffered from multiple DDOS attacks all at once on a global scale. All phone lines that can receive outside signals have been overloaded as every cell tower across the world was overloaded with signals. Even radios struggle to work as random radio signals are being broadcast all over the earth to interfere with their use. This kind of brute force attack to take down networks across the world would be impossible for humans to achieve as of now but the alien entity has shown that it is capable of launching trillions of attacks involving an infinitesimal amount of signals. It hasn't managed to breach any completely closed systems and communication is now somewhat possible but it's become infinitely harder to communicate at large and every entity on earth has been significantly hampered. This opening salvo shows that the alien entity is intent on waging war on a planetary level and there is a very real concern that earth simply cannot match up technologically.

Results: All cellphones disabled, all publicly available internet disabled, all radios that are not completely insulated to outside interference disabled. Revealed that the alien entity, has some kind of trait that massively lowers the DC of interfering with technology it can access

[ ] Launch an attack on Earth
DC 132
Roll 306 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Planetary success

The alien entity has managed to get past the first line of the Earth's defense. With communications down nobody was able to coordinate an assault against it. The massive skull ship is currently hovering in the upper reaches of earths atmosphere above Nemo point. Attacks launched against it proved ineffective as it was either able to outmaneuver them by moving out of earth's atmosphere, or intercept them with its own weaponry. It's currently launching wave after wave of its own drones and other ships and so the earth has been forced onto the backfoot as what few countries were capable of attacking it where it was located have now been forced to defend their own territory from hostile invasion. The earth is under siege.

Results: Brainiac enters earth's atmosphere unscathed and can use everything in his arsenal, every major country under attack simultaneously, Brainiac Attacks event

We still owe her on the taxes front right?

Also on the Wayne Enterprises front:-

*Shakes fist towards the sky*

WAAAYYNNEE!!!

Bruce Wayne seems to be Lex Luthor real nemesis not Superman. I mean Wayne has literally done several things that hurt Lex Luthor financial and ruined Lex Luthor politcal agenda than Superman has. Actually we should probably meet with Wayne and hammer out some kind of truce.

Wait when has he ruined our political agenda?

By existing , but when he released the information on th emetagene before Lex Luthor could. If we had done it first we could have better handle the fallout and the narrative.
Historically we've got a LOT of stuff like that that we just sit on without a plan.

Wayne may have been the guy who happened to discover and publicize the metagene, but sooner or later someone was going to do it, because Mother Nature doesn't give a damn about who discovers something first and will leave it lying around to be discovered by someone else later.

Really excited to see how the Brainiac will event be handled. I am curious if to see if a potential Justice League formation comes from the events fallout.

...welp here we go.

also, blew up Brainiac my ass
I mean if we're being fair to Superman he did blow up one of Brainiac's bodies. It just doesn't really matter that he did that because most of Brainiac's bodies are completely expendable.
No how dare the aliens hurt Lex Luthor cell phone network. I bet Superman is responsible for it somehow.
Brainiac hurt everyone's "everything that relies on a signal to manage communication". If Brainiac were less of a pragmatic coward and descended lower to Earth, he could probably do things like start interfering with automatic garage door openers.
Goddamnit Clark, you couldnt check to confirm that you had actually killed Braniac could you.
The body that Clark thought he destroyed was actually destroyed. His mistake is less "didn't confirm the kill" and more "didn't realize he was fighting an AI not limited to a single body instead of a generic alien".
The invasion begins gentlemen.
Would you mind if I ask where this image is from? I don't recognize the crystalline ships right off the bat so I'm kind of curious cause it's a really great image.

The main difference is that none of it ever gets personal because for all Wayne Enterprises competes with LexCorp, they never challenge Lex Luthor as a person and they don't ever act directly against him.

Also by the definition you ended up using for "ruining Lex Luthor's political agenda" Superman has unintentionally done so multiple times (albeit less blatantly) with Lois' help (off the top of my head he took away control of the narrative from LexCorp after the Intergang attack, just now with the Brainiac stuff he's begun preempting the narrative and in some of the nemesis mini-events you attempted to do something from the shadows only for Superman to preempt you and cause the plan to fall through).
Really excited to see how the Brainiac will event be handled. I am curious if to see if a potential Justice League formation comes from the events fallout.
Glad to hear it. Brainiac arriving had literally been rolled for since turn 1 so I'm super excited to see how people react to an event that on my end has been 2+ years in the making.

Well the world as Lex knows is certainly going to change. Though im hoping we can get/are around somewhere Braniac when/if he reveals just why exactly he is invading Earth.

So a lot happened in that update, want to highlight a few with some thoughts on them:
Results: Helena fails to kill Stephen Mandragora but succeeds in severely injuring him, DC increased on Batman's ability to track Helena, Helena Bertinelli joins LexCorp
We get a new martial/intrigue hero, and we can help her with the use of the stealth suits for next time, and maybe use the guaranteed stroke inducing drug.

Results: Project Damocles successfully fuses Atlantean biotech onto a live subject who later died of medical complications proving that it is possible, new options available
We should probably aid in this after the ODIN system after we take an action to learn about the tech. Seems like they didn't even try to study it, they just fused it to someone immediately. Also note that Tala was the one to get the "success" in doing this, so we probably need some form of magic for it to work out right.

Results: Vlatava conquers a fifth of Markovia, Markovia able to start fighting back but struggling a fair bit, Castle Catalogue subvote
Wonder how Brainiac's invasion will affect this, or if he'll just leave both countries to do the work for him, unless he's interested in the bone metahumans.

Results: Learned that Tobias Whale is a powerful figure in organized crime in Dakota City, Working with Whale subvote
Of course he ran to Dakota City! He picked the place we were actively expanding in! Well hopefully we can just leave each other be, but make it clear we are going to expand in that city even if we'll avoid targeting him directly.

Numerous new options opened up
So make duel monsters soon? :D He gave us info on Felix Faust, and info that can help with the Egyptian Book of the Dead we have. Not bad, we should maybe meet with him again.

Results: Bargaining with the Brain subvote, learned that the Brain can teleport phones
I am all for a truce for the sake of defending the planet, but I really don't want to give him a place that could be traced back to us...but I want whatever tech he's working on.

Results: Significant morale boost for LexCorp employees, DC on some magic related options slightly reduced
Good to see some DC reductions on magic, and our employees will need that morale boost with all the overtime they'll be putting in so we can overcome Wayne's latest projects.

Results: Humphry Dumpler returned to Arkham for treatment, Batgirl recieves a substantial boost in popularity, it becomes public knowledge that someone deliberately released Humphry but not who.
I'm thinking it was Harley, only a matter of time now.

Results: Queen Bee subverts a chunk of HIVE, Queen Bee obtains multiple metahumans including Billy Numerous, Queen Bee provides LexCorp with a handful of Life Model Decoy Drones and promises to send their creator to LexCorp as well.
So much from this! Possibly two new heroes (or we could send Billy Numerous to Diana), new robot tech to study, and maybe some new metahumans to recruit or study.

Results: The Trickster sent to prison, new options opened up
@King crimson is there an action to legally recruit him, put his skills to good use for society and use our Rogues as an example that we can "reform" people? Or does he need to sit in prison for a bit first?

Those Brainiac actions... anyplace without a superhero or strong military presence is going to get wrecked... and then we'll need to spend time and money to rebuild them under our influence. DC for building in other cities may shift considerably if it means getting LexCorp funding and donations, we may need to take this next turn:
[ ] Start advertising your construction company
DC 21 (DC 15 if Marie Louise Dahl is assigned to this action) Your construction company needs work in order to stay in business. Advertising your services can potentially get you contracts elsewhere. Being able to build more with this company sounds like a good idea to you.

Superman
[ ] Defeat and capture the Charger
DC 31
Roll 74 (with hero bonuses factored in)
Impressive success
Huh. Superman rolled only a 74 on a Martial test. Interesting.

Results: Toyman learns that a strong enough Kryptonite bomb can kill Superman, Superman's reputation at an all-time low with the police who now view him as an active problem, public opinion on Superman slightly sours, multiple villains released, imprisoned Toyman revealed to be a robot, Nemesis guage -5, new options opened up
And this, friends? This is the dividends of making Kryptonite so easily available to the common man.

WayneTech's moves are annoying, and we'll need to respond. We've been neglecting that side of things for too long. The fact that Kord thinks it can compete is also annoying.

The Brainiac thing is... well. Hi, Brainiac.

Leslie Willis is fantastic, and I couldn't be happier about the results of that particular investment.

I'm thinking... after this Brainiac thing is done, it's going to have some impact.

- People are going to be a lot more conscious of the need for a "protect the world" group of some sort. Dammit. I knew we should have sealed the deal on the VAA last turn! Regardless, we need to seize control of the narrative here. We can't afford to let Lois freaking Lane turn this into some sort of "Look at how much the world needs Superman" BS. Regardless, this is the thing that's going to cause the Justice League to form. We need out be out in front of that.

- Whatever direct damage gets done

- Major political impact based on who manages to take him down, how, and who manages to spin it.

- Indication that technological means of communications are not always secure, and that certain situations are going to require a magical form of communications as backup. On the bright side, we do now have a mage who'd specialized in mirrors?

On the bright side, we do now have a mage who'd specialized in mirrors?
I was actually thinking about that earlier and realized, holy crap we have another magic hero. We can actually put him on ward actions and any kind of creating/designing action he's on could have some magic result for the reward table.

He has a 0.6 coop score with Rebecca, so at some point we could put them (and maybe one more hero) on "[ ] Erect wards around Metropolis (DC 44)" and he could reasonably pick up some new skills that he could combine with his mirror magic. Though I'm hoping we put him on "[ ] Learn about mirrors" first so the magic doesn't all go to his head.

Billy Numerous - Self-duplicator from Teen Titans.
I feel like he would have a trait to give him a significant boost in Martial or Stewardship actions due to his power.

So... gotta-have-its, as far as I can see (for the moment).

- We need to seal the deal on the Superman-suppressing law this time. Need to. We also need to make sure that we know what exactly we need to do to make Diana happy as far as pushing various requirements, and do that thing. @King crimson this is a bit of a frustration for me. In-universe, we could quite easily ask her "Okay. What more do you need of this", and then decide to invest enough political capital to make sure that that's the thing that happens, and use whatever else we need elsewhere. In-quest, we need to guess what's necessary to keep her happy, and then guess how much effort will make that thing happen. Given that this is a "pay off an agreed-upon obligation" thing, I feel like the need for guessing is frustrating.

- We probably shouldn't claim a castle just yet. Better to wait until the war is done, in case we have to wash our hands of things.

- Working with Whale... I'm going to have to see what the subvote looks like. I'm not necessarily opposed to working with the man as long as we can do it in a way that won't make us look too bad if it comes out.

- We need to make some sort of major Pharmaceuticals push. Please.

- Wayne has started to push on Computers in general. We ought to push back on that. Same on appliances, I think.

- Time to show Kord why you don't mess with the LexPhone. Seriously.

...and then there's all our many other obligations. Oh, so much to do, so much to do.

What a HYPE turn. Lots of cool things going on and interesting votes coming up. Just commenting some initial reactions. Didn't even get to a bunch of the actions I want to go into more detail on because the lateness of the night for me.
new actions related to the person supplying Charger with technology now unlocked
Another source of high tech in Metropolis. I'm thinking either Intergang again or Albert Michaels (STAR Labs head researcher, probably secretly a villain).
Results: Toyman learns that a strong enough Kryptonite bomb can kill Superman, Superman's reputation at an all-time low with the police who now view him as an active problem, public opinion on Superman slightly sours, multiple villains released, imprisoned Toyman revealed to be a robot, Nemesis guage -5, new options opened up
So it was a fake Toyman. That was my first guess and cool to see it pan out. Also great to see the police viewing him as an active problem now. Tbh this further cements Toyman as a great proxy agent against Superman. Just a little help and he could do some real damage, but that may have to wait.
Results: Helena fails to kill Stephen Mandragora but succeeds in severely injuring him, DC increased on Batman's ability to track Helena, Helena Bertinelli joins LexCorp
Another hero unit added. Since we seem to have an upswing of Intrigue options I hope she is pretty good at that.
Eiling has informed you that he's going to be shifting to using his influence to deal with matters of international diplomacy for a while so he likely will not be continuing to aid you on this front.
Wonder what he is doing on the international front. Fucking with Russia some more?
Results: Project Damocles successfully fuses Atlantean biotech onto a live subject who later died of medical complications proving that it is possible, new options available
Dr. Moon, we got a job for you :D
The world doesn't currently have it's eye on either of the two countries but at the same time it seems as though no one is going to interfere on principle alone
Wait, you're telling me we may not actually have to keep other people out? They may just do that themselves!? Awesome! Especially if everyone is distracted by the Brainiac attack and recovering from it.

Here comes Whale again. I'm kind of 50/50 on talking to him. I think Dakota City is to much of an important place in the future to just let go. Our wrath and the situation we forced him into last time might be enough to force him to be on the level. But also he could just be pulling a fast one again. Need to think on this more.
Brain offered his and the Brotherhood of Evil's aid in fighting off a potential alien invasion if they could use that time to earn temporary amnesty and reduce how wanted they are by world governments.

I don't mind that second deal. I think we could get him a spot with Count Vertigo or Queen Bee possibly. Both those countries would be hard to penetrate and because their dictators have such control over them.

We could also possibly host him in our Antarctic labs.
[ ] Prevent Constantine Drakon from assassinating Moira Queen
Someone really wants Moria Queen dead
Results: Brainiac enters earth's atmosphere unscathed and can use everything in his arsenal, every major country under attack simultaneously, Brainiac Attacks event
Cool to see this event kick off. Definitely feels like a potential Justice League moment waiting to happen. Hopefully we can coop that at least a bit for some official sponsored team, a Justice Society of America you could say. Having the JSA being the official sponsored team vs the JL being the illegal vigilantes sounds like it could be a funny dichotomy.

Besides that, I think we are about to see the true super-weapons and hidden powerful metahumans lurking about come out and play. US, Russia, China, the Gods and many others may just reveal their hands here. However, its not like any of that can be recorded, so I have doubts we will learn about these things except for the most powerful of them. The only things worldwide will probably be known are those that make an attack on Brainiac's hub center.

Also this is going to be a great time for mid to low level criminals. As long as they don't get hit in the crossfire (hopefully the heroes save them) they can rampage with impunity almost. They could use the chaos, infrastructure damage, and general distraction to loot, attack key targets, recruit from those badly affected, infiltrate a place, etc.
