What would be the most effective preventative to Brainiac's hacking? The best I can think of would be to completely isolate all of LexCorp HQ's networks and such from the rest of the Internet. Which I don't even know if what I'm saying is an accurate/realistic solution. Someone brought up the "improve signal jamming" option, which sounds like a good idea to include in next turn's choices.

It does sound like the Cold Engine is pretty much the most environmentally friendly power source ever designed. Which is awesome in many ways, it plays well for Lexcorp to be the ones who push the technology. And as stated, with kryptonite batteries helping the size problem we can revolutionize the energy sector altogether and reduce pollution immensely.

And its allpart of our dastardly plan to make Superman's life harder and solidify our stranglehold over the energy market as well. God i love this business.

Do we have some EMP weaponry? Seems like a good idea against Brainiac forces and we could sell it to our allies to..

I feel like the only reliable way of stopping Brainiac from hacking us is to not have any computers

And I imagine we'd have to roll incredibly well to develop a signal jammer actually capable of effecting Brainiac

The thing is, this is a power plant that derives its energy from cold, as I understand it, and I have no fucking idea how that's supposed to work. So screw it, it's a magic box that makes electricity from nowhere.
It basically eats the entropic energy of heat, and makes it less entropic, thus generating cold and energy. As soon as you accept that it utterly laughs int eh face of the second law of thermodynamics, everything is fine.

One interesting question is how cold it can get before it stops working... because the fact that you can use your building's Cold Engine for free AC is nice, but if you can get it to bring things down to liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen levels, then that's another potentially very significant set of options opening up.

I think most effective actions would be
[ ] Develop a custom battle suit (for Katherina Kane) DC 5
[ ] Fortify Metropolis DC 32
Kath has great coop with Pamela and if we reinforce her, we will have second strong martial pair in addition to Carol-Roxanna duo. Then we can have decent performance in at least to sectors at once.
Don't forget fortifying Lex tower itself, and possibly also our subsidiary towers. Certain tech-pushes might also be worthwhile, as might certain "sell to the US military" actions.

There are two actions that I've found that directly help with this: Improve Cyber Security and Improve Signal Jammers. Signal Jammers has already been talked about a bit, but I'll copy-paste both action details below.

[ ] Improve cyber security defenses
DC 176 (DC 88 if Felicity or Nygma are assigned to the action) LexCorp's cyber-security has been vastly improved from what it was before. However you undoubtedly can make it even better. After all additional defenses against digital encroachment might be just what you need to stay ahead in the modern age.

[ ] Improve signal jammers
DC 31 Improving the strength and utility of your signal jammers will help ensure that LexCorp remains safe and secure for a long while. It's always good to retain some measure of privacy

The realistic hope with these is that we make it too much of a bother for Brainiac to hack our systems in the short time he's going to be on planet. There are a couple other actions that could potentially help with defense, like fortifying our tower, although that's more to stop any autonomous drones Brainiac could send out.

Another way to potentially mitigate the risk of getting hacked is to kick Brainiac off the planet sooner, and we've got a plethora of ways to try and do that. There's recruiting Silver Banshee/Volcana, supplying weapons to our security forces/PMC/the Army/the police, training our security forces/PMC/the police, strengthening our exosuits and/or Rose's Ravager suit, just to name a few.

If we really want AMAZO, we'd need to dedicate some turns to making a lab, and possibly learn necromancy to bring Ivo back (which is actually something we can get with learning about magic). The DC is currently 200 and it needs to be cleared 15 times to be completed, and Ivo made it really worth it with his trait that gave us a free robotics learning reward every time he was assigned to it (along with the DC reduction of course).

With that being said I'd love for us to have AMAZO around as a hero unit similar to the DCAU version, it just won't happen until we can dedicate the actions towards that goal over numerous turns. For reference the first turn we took the cold engine action was turn 20, so it took about 7 turns to finish it all up, with all the benefits listed above.
DCQU AMAZO is more Ghost in the Shell than DCAU AMAZO. If Ivo completes it, he will put his mind in it, and then we will have to deal with a god with Ivo's personality and none of the behavioral limitations gods usually come with. That is a very bad combination. Even if completing AMAZO without him is harder, the alternative is worse.
Also, would LexCorp get rebranded as CasCorp upon Cassandra's takeover?
ComCass.

Don't forget fortifying Lex tower itself, and possibly also our subsidiary towers. Certain tech-pushes might also be worthwhile, as might certain "sell to the US military" actions.
I would say we should reinforce our main tower and Metropolis itself, they're both fairly low DC compared to reinforcing our other towers and more valuable

Other things that might be a good idea are warding Metropolis, both for the defensive bonus and for the boost to Martial it would give Rebecca while in the city, designing a new laser rifle for General Wells, giving us a new friend in the military as well as creating another new weapon we can use, and maybe improving our forces equipment

Honestly I'd say improving our cyber security is a lost cause, there's no way that anything short of an utterly stupendous roll will make a security system that can actually stop Brainiac

Signal jammers could be useful for fucking with his connection to his drones

Also @King crimson the discussion of possibly making Kate her own exosuit has me thinking, iirc during the Intergang attack you said that a unit that's given an exosuit gains the Martial stat of that exosuit rather than having it added to their own, is that still the case for personal exosuits or just generic ones?

Personal exosuits do not function like normal exosuits. They also override a unit's martial but if they are given to the unit they are meant for then the personal exosuit is guaranteed to have higher martial than the unit's initial stats while for heroes who aren't meant for that exosuit they suffer a penalty that makes them worse.

Personal exosuits technically still override the stats of the unit they are assigned to but if given to the unit they are meant for then personal exosuits are functionally identical to a boost. Does that make sense?

Yeah that makes sense

Basically someone with a personally designed exosuit is always going to be better with it than without it but that of course doesn't apply to everyone

Ahhh, I see. Well then. That's merely impossible, not nonsensical. Much better; that's a relief.

[As an illustration, reaching down and pulling yourself up into the air by tugging on your own shoelaces is merely impossible. Pulling yourself up into the air by redirecting sideways and adding purple moneky dishwasher, meanwhile, is nonsensical. The former, while not a thing that can happen in real life, at least comes with a coherent, clearly defined visual representation and we can in theory generalize from the capability to other related capabilities. The latter is just a way of playing Calvinball with the in-story reality.]

Honestly I'd say improving our cyber security is a lost cause, there's no way that anything short of an utterly stupendous roll will make a security system that can actually stop Brainiac
You're not wrong, but on the other hand...

1) Even if improved cyber-security doesn't actually stop Brainiac, it may reduce the degree of his success. This may make the difference between him learning absolutely everything there is to know about LexCorp, and only learning SOME of what there is to know about LexCorp. There's a big difference between what happens when an enemy beats you by 50 points and when they beat you by 150 points.

2) Improving our cyber-security also helps us against more 'normal' threats; there are at least a few Oracle-tier hackers out there in the world that might bear us ill will.

3) If we choose to make it a major focus, we can engineer very high rolls in specific areas. This can be one of them if we want it to be.

4) Brainiac is enough of a threat (since he's very likely to beeline for Metropolis) that we should seriously consider doing nothing but prepare for Brainiac this turn. And since the hacking threat is one of the most predictable lines of his attack, we'd be unwise not to do something to counter it.

Remember, kids, when fighting Brainiac there's no such thing as safe networking. The only 100% safe method is abstinence.

(Just physically remove networking hardware. Can't hack something that can't receive data. It's inconvenient, but less so than an internet with a Brainiac infestation.)

Fair points

The issue with this is that that's a very tricky balance to achieve, it would have to have either Felicity or Nygma assigned to it to be viable but Felicity unfortunately doesn't have great co-op scores with our Intrigue heroes and while Nygma and Carl could do it the latter might be better served elsewhere and if Nygma's trait fires, which it might given he hides codes in our security system, we lose our rerolls

Hmm, though I suppose we could do a Lex, Cass and Felicity team up for +94 (Not including the +14 from Lex's trait
4) Brainiac is enough of a threat (since he's very likely to beeline for Metropolis) that we should seriously consider doing nothing but prepare for Brainiac this turn. And since the hacking threat is one of the most predictable lines of his attack, we'd be unwise not to do something to counter it.
Oh I'm all for making preparing for Brainiac our number one priority next turn

The basic plan I'm thinking right now is:

[ ] Improve LexCorp forces equipment DC 50
- Leonard, Sam and Mick (+60)

[ ] Fortify LexCorp tower DC 65
- Roxy and Carl (+93)

[ ] Fortify Metropolis DC 32
- Mercy and Rose (+57)

[ ] Erect wards around Metropolis DC 44
- Mari and Rebecca (+59)

[ ] Develop a custom battle suit DC 5
- Kate (+20)

[ ] Improve cyber security defenses DC 88
- Lex, Cass and Felicity (+94, +14)

[ ] Improve signal jammers DC 31
- Meena and Barbara (+37)

[ ] Develop a new standard laser rifle for General Wells DC 30
- Louise and Caitlin (+51)

Of course all of that could easily change depending on what happens

The basic plan I'm thinking right now is:
I am amused by the idea of Megafortress Metropolis. Like... "Most of the cities in the US are pretty normal... and then there's this one right here that is prepped to defend against assault by alien battlestations. Why? Apparently, Lex Luthor doesn't like the idea of letting aliens throw their weight around just because they're overpowered."

[ ] Erect wards around Metropolis DC 44
- Mari and Rebecca (+59)
I'm actually extremely warry of doing that action. Tala specifically called out that Lexcorp Tower could attract attention since people may be interested if they actually interacted or sensed our wards because of their unique signatures from Rebecca's magic. Right now that isn't a huge problem because magical people largely don't have a need to come to Lexcorp tower so they aren't likely to casually detect it.

If we ward all of Metropolis that would be a very different story. Besides that I imagine warding a whole city is certainly making a huge statement in the magical community. We would basically be declaring that Metropolis is ours to the magical side of DC. While I do feel that way, I'm not sure we're ready to make that type of declaration to the magical world. I wouldn't be surprised to face opposition to that action and other hero units to provide negatives.

The Rogues revolutionized it a few turns ago so we are good there. Our cybersecurity was improved by Nygma so it would have flaws. Getting Smoak and Frost on Cybersecurity would be better unless we want to build on momentum and release hologram tech.

Doing holograms would improve Lightyear Entertainment's production budget too.

We could also:

Make Carol and Pamela practice more their powers (possibly in a specialized gym we built long time ago),

Make Roxy learn either strategy or tactics,

Put either Lincoln or Snart to creating a freeze ray or a cold gun for Snart, and possibly Lisa,

Put Mari and Meena into researching Tantu totem to increase Mari's martial,

Make Rebecca and new magic guy either research magic and then choose battle capable skills, or make them ward anything and everything,

Possibly make a Lexosuit,

Make a suit for Kate, lady Vic and Wells.

That's a fair point, the main reason I was considering it, beyond the extra security, is because it would give Rebecca her bonus Martial whenever she was in the city but you're right that it's probably not worth it right now

Something else I though of is we could have Carol, and some others, equip the SCU. Not only would that make another group of well armed fighters to resists the invasion but it would probably bolster her reputation with them and make it more likely they'll work with her over Superman
Getting Smoak and Frost on Cybersecurity would be better unless we want to build on momentum and release hologram tech.
Unfortunately improving cyber security is an Intrigue action so Frost wouldn't be any help there
Make Carol and Pamela practice more their powers (possibly in a specialized gym we built long time ago),
I think the odds of rolling well enough to make a substantial improvement is low enough that we'd be better off having them do other things, especially since our training room isn't that great anyway
Put either Lincoln or Snart to creating a freeze ray or a cold gun for Snart, and possibly Lisa,
I'm hoping that we'll be able to pick up a freeze ray as part of the Cold Engine subvote and we'll finally do it this time
Make a suit for Kate, lady Vic and Wells.
I'm all for making one for Kate but I think it would be wasted on Wells and Elaine might be better off with an invisibility suit
IIRC Mari and Meena do not get along well so the low co-op would not be so good.
Annoying Mari's Learning stat is so pitiful that she won't be any help whatsoever on that action other than lowering the DC

Seriously, despite have a co-op of 1.5 with Rebecca their combined bonus is only two points higher than Mari and Meena's, who have a co-op of 0

When we finally get around to researching the Tantu Totem we'll either need a decent team or nope that Drache has good learning co-op, if we can trust him with something so sensitive

You know.

We catapulted Dr. Isley's Stewardship score upwards by several points by having her go through just a single turn of training with Mr. Frost.

If we wanted Mari's Learning to be higher, we could pick someone with high Learning that she gets along well with, and just make that be a training action.

That's true but Mari is already busy doing Martial and Stewardship actions, with the occasional Diplomacy ones, boosting her Learning would just give us one extra thing to consider her for

Though if we had Rebecca do it we could get ourselves an extra magic researcher...

Turn 27 Results Part 2
Not going to talk too much about this. IRL injuries slowed down getting this chapter out but it's here regardless. Feel free to let me know which of these personal actions you enjoyed reading about as I appreciate the feedback on these and hopefully will continue to deliver quality content. Hope you all enjoy!

Turn 27 Results Part 2

Personal Actions
[ ] [Lex] Continue to look through Ivo's old things
Roll 18

Something about Ivo's records made you think it was worth digging deeper and lo and behold a bit more digging and you'd discovered several interesting prototypes and notes well-worth looking into. Interestingly amongst the information you'd discovered were brain scans of Professor Ivo shortly before his death. You'd have to look into the information more but you may have discovered a hidden trove of previously unknown information that Ivo had left behind.

Results: Discovered Ivo's last notes and contingencies, new actions have opened up

[ ] [Mercy] Speak with Felicity about cybersecurity
Roll 14

Mercy wasn't anywhere near as intelligent as Lex but she was by no means stupid and by virtue of her position she had to at least grasp the very basics of most of what LexCorp did, and how its defenses worked. Mercy could freely admit that she wasn't quite up to date on how exactly computers worked and how to defend against cyber attacks. As such Mercy talked to someone who did know their way around computers. Felicity Smoak's answers gave Mercy the basic rundown of how the security system worked but Edward Nygma was the man behind the current hydra-esque labyrinthian defense system. As such Mercy had a new person to talk to in order to attempt to figure out how best to keep LexCorp safe even as the world kept moving forward.

[ ] [Pam] Tend to her garden
Roll 7

Nobody had said that the position of head of the EPA wouldn't be stressful. Pamela had known that the job would be difficult before she even considered accepting it but it was well worth doing for LexCorp. That being said she hadn't expected it to be quite as stressful and difficult as it had ended up turning out to be. Who could have predicted that Atlantis was both real and was going to make life a lot more difficult for the EPA. Pamela would get the work done but she wasn't exactly able to have a massive amount of free time. In the little moments of free time Pamela did have, she tended to her garden, calming and recentering herself, before once more returning to the grind of work.

[ ] [Kane] Check out the shopping district near Shibuya station
Roll 3

Apparently the shopping district near Shibuya station in Tokyo was one of the places to go and was a central hub of nightlife. Katherine wouldn't know. She'd initially planned to go there but working with the Tokyo Troopers and talking to various officials and Dr. Hoshi had eaten up all of the time she'd intended to use visiting that area. It was fine though. Katherine was here for business not pleasure and so she'd focus on getting the job done first and foremost.

[ ] [Rebecca] Go to the beach with Mick
Roll 7

The beach day had been something Rebecca was looking forward to. It wasn't always easy to arrange a time to meet up with Mick considering their various obligations but Rebecca did enjoy spending time with the big lug when possible. And so everything was all set to go for a beach day when suddenly out of nowhere it started to rain on the day they'd planned to go to the beach. Sure Rebecca and Mick had still ended up hanging out but dammit Rebecca had been looking forward to that beach day.

[ ] [Roxy] Go check out the Royal Flush kids
Roll 1

Roxy had always been interested in getting an eyeful of those Royal Flush kids that the big bald boss man had housed for a bit. They'd been labelled as dangerous if treated uncarefully and one of the kids was apparently so dangerous that LexCorp screened the people who would interact with her. In Roxy's world that practically screamed thrills and excitement. Only problem was up until now poking the metaphorical bear could result in stuff blowing up in LexCorp and it was basic common sense not to shit where you sleep. So long as LexCorp was funding her fun and letting her chase the thrills she wanted, Roxy was going to try not to screw them over and be at least semi-professional. But now the Royal Flush kids were out of LexCorp and thus fair game. And so Roxy made her way to the fancy school for metahumans and promptly attempted to get a visitors pass to see the kids. When she was denied she attempted to sneak past security and promptly got caught and thrown in a holding cell after a brief chase. She was eventually let out and LexCorp did end up agreeing that Roxy wouldn't come near the school again unless given permission. If it weren't for the problems it caused LexCorp Roxy totally would have done it again. Sure she never got to meet the Royal Flush kids but a tense dangerous chase by government agents was fun enough for Roxy even if they hadn't used any live rounds. Mission accomplished, boredom averted.

[ ] [Carol] Anonymously give out Hal Jordan's email to spammers and scammers
Roll 13

Carol didn't consider herself a petty person. Generally she was pretty level headed and rational and fair. But all that being said something about Hal always made her act emotionally and intensely and when dealing with her ex, Carol was maybe ever so slightly absolutely incredibly viciously petty. It didn't make it any less cathartic to get back at him and in Carol's mind he deserved all the petty bullshit that he got sent his way. Carol couldn't help but crack a grin whenever she imagined Hal's stupid handsome face when he realized just how many scammers and spammers had gotten ahold of the address. Was it petty? Yes but that didn't make it any less satisfying or entertaining.

[ ] [Karl] Try and play golf
Roll 20

Golf was an easy enough sport to pick up and play. It kept you active, it had a simple objective and best of all for Karl, he could play it alone but wasn't left alone with nothing but his thoughts while he played it. Karl had found he rather liked golf as the sport could be rather relaxing. Trying a new hobby hadn't turned out to be so bad at the end of the day.

[ ] [Cass] Discover online leaderboards for video games
Roll 17

Cassandra liked competition. Most people were content with simply winning but Cassandra preferred to struggle for her victories and to earn them against a challenging competitor. Cassandra was better than most people when it came to most things and frankly that showed. As such things that came too easily to her simply weren't interesting or engaging. Cassandra liked to win but she also liked to work for her wins. Simply crushing those who didn't even hold a glimmer of a chance of contending with her was entertaining for maybe a minute before it got boring and predictable. As such the best most entertaining games were those in which she could compete against herself. After all who better to challenge Cassandra to improve and grow better than herself? When you were without peer you'd be the only one capable of pushing yourself to go even further beyond your current best. Cassandra had contented herself with viewing video games in a similar manner, however on a whim she'd looked up online if someone had done better than her score-wise in some of the games she'd played, eager to see if she'd already reached the top. In that search Cassandra realized that there were entire online leaderboards for videogames. Who could beat the game the fastest? Who could beat the game with the highest score or with severe restrictions that encouraged out of the box thinking? It was something to make video games interesting and gave Cassandra goalposts to surpass and a way to compete against herself. Cassandra found that playing games like this, with a more competitive edge to it as well as an element of self-improvement, was a lot more entertaining and fun. She'd even found enjoyment in titles she'd previously written off as boring. Video games were still ultimately a waste of time but they were entertaining enough like this and as a young child Cassandra was expected to have unproductive hobbies and so it would probably enable her to relate at least a little better to her peers. Jinx would probably get a kick out of it and Cassandra could at least now entertain herself much easier when given the downtime.

[ ] [Mari] Experiment with superhero costume designs
Roll 20

Superhero costumes were an interesting design space in Mari's mind. It was an odd melding of form and fashion and the general trend with costumes tended to be accentuating an individuals features or abilities to some extent and almost exaggerating them and turned the superhero into a larger than life individual. Mari played around with the ideas that came into her head and sketched some ideas for if herself and her co-workers decided to become superheroes but also for powersets on individuals she'd never met before. It was fun and there were some real hidden gems in there but Mari wasn't exactly going to to publish or make much use of these designs right now. Still it was an entertaining little experiment to try and design superhero costumes

Result: DC of designing superhero costumes lowered only if Mari is assigned to the action

[ ] [Loomis] Practice impressions and funny voices
Roll 9

Oswald was a decent comedian and while he'd never be some highbrow comedian whom adults came far and wide to see he could manage at least some basic impressions and funny voices. It was entertaining to children and it was a skill Oswald felt really added to his ability to provide entertaining children's programming. Sometimes of course Oswald liked to practice doing those impressions and funny voices just to make sure he was up to snuff with them. Unfortunately today as he did them he'd accidentally dialed Roxanne while he practiced and so she'd overheard the entire session. It was a little embarrassing but Oswald had gone through worse before. Now he'd just be more careful about making sure he didn't accidentally call people before practicing.

[ ] [Jinx] Pick up card tricks from Zatanna
Roll 17

Jinx had always figured that learning magic would have been a lot more formal and have been filled with revelations and breakthroughs that came and solved all of her problems. Not so much it apparently seemed. Now Jinx actually liked learning from Z and playing magicians assistant wasn't half bad even if the costume was very much not to her taste. Now the attention and the admiration was something Jinx could certainly get used to. While Z's talks about how to learn about magic and safely explore that stuff on her own were interesting enough the thing Jinx ended up picking up on fast was the prestidigitation. Fast fingers, a flair for the dramatic and the ability to bend the truth made Jinx skilled at picking up some of the stuff really fast. She didn't get to do much of the big tricks on stage but Z did have a point that mixing up real and fake magic made her a lot more of a versatile unknown to people. Admittedly picking up how to do a whole bunch of card tricks from Z was more to do with it just being cool but Jinx was going to pick up what she could from Zatanna even if magic training wasn't quite what she'd expected at first.

Results: Jinx learns a lot of card tricks

[ ] [Carl] Mope over his daughter having left the nest
Roll 5

It had been a while since Carla had left for college but Carl still wasn't over it. Separation was difficult especially when he constantly wanted to know what was going on and what she might need. He tried to complain about the situation to his friend, Edward, but Nygma proved to be utterly unsympathetic to Carl's despair and dismay. It appeared he would have to be because he was alone while he was alone.

[ ] [Felicity] Get a coffee with Mari and Caitlin
Roll 6

The plans to get coffee with Mari and Caitlin had in the end ultimately fallen through. Between Mari assisting in LexCorp's investment in small businesses in Tokyo to Caitlin's wild celebration over the progress with the Cold Engine. There just never seemed to be a time for all three of them to just get together and hang out. Felicity still managed to occasionally meet up with them individually but the plans for all three of them to hang out appeared to be thoroughly dashed.

[ ] [Dahl] Doodle some logo ideas
Roll 12

Marie wasn't exactly an artist but she'd read a lot of books about marketing in preparation for her new role in LexCorp. As such she often could look at some of the company logos and form a critical opinion of whether or not the logo was good or bad and what worked and what didn't. Naturally she wasn't always correct but Marie felt she knew enough to be able to at least doodle and come up with a few alternatives for various companies. Nobody needed the rebranding just yet but maybe if LexCorp needed her to start a big campaign for one of the company's under its umbrella, Marie would get to use her little doodles as more than just idle amusements

[ ] [Nygma] Offer Cassandra a copy of Riddle of the Minotaur and challenge her to beat it
Roll 16

Edward knew his predilection for preparing puzzling predicaments would easily prevail and prosper when purloined to prop up a game of some kind. While his current work was arguably more intellectually stimulating, Edward's previous profession was that of a game designer. While he was by no means the best programmer in the assortment of individuals Mockridge had roped together to conglomerate a creation to generate revenue, he was by far the most creative and inventive of the bunch and was at least adequate in all of the applicable abilities to game design. Of the games that Edward had created, Riddle of the Minotaur was by far the one Edward prized and prided himself on for his participation in designing and creating. The game wasn't nearly at the level of difficulty that Edward could have created if the game hadn't been aimed at utter neophytes and adolescents but it had allowed Edward to flex both his creative and constructive capabilities to craft a creation capable of clarifying common acuity while challenging children to become more than the slack-jawed, drooling, solipsistic drones to mediocrity that had come before them. Naturally when he'd heard that Luthor's daughter had begun to pick up an interest in video games and other electronic entertainment, Edward naturally volunteered of his own volition the vested vestige of his previous vocation to the girl to see if she could beat it. Edward was at least realistic about the reality of the fact that the girl would likely end up completing the game even if he had challenged her in order to motivate her to complete it but he had concluded that enabling her to experience electronic excellence would at least enrich her education and that a few of the more perplexing puzzles would push her cranial capacity to comprehend the correct conclusion to the puzzle. The girl seemed to at least be appreciative of the gift Nygma offered and began to work on completing it. Edward could relax knowing that his work was still appreciated and best of all because Edward knew how to gain access to copies not official sold by his previous employer, Mockridge wasn't making a single cent off of Edward's previous products.

[ ] [Rose] Race Roxy through an obstacle course
Roll 16

Sometimes you just wanted to go fast. Rose knew the feeling well. You couldn't be a good pilot for experimental stuff if you weren't willing to take risks and push things to their limit. Most people in LexCorp though didn't quite share her love for big metal things that go fast. Luckily Roxy did and so Rose had someone to share in the enjoyment of putting the pedal to the metal. Rose had spent a few hours setting up a basic obstacle course in one of the testing areas for aerial maneuverability before she challenged Roxy to a race. They'd ultimately agreed to race using Roxy's rocket and were forced to do time trials rather than race head to head due to lacking a second rocket. Still it was entertaining and trash talk and adrenaline made for a good time. Roxy ended up winning in the end but Rose still managed to entertain herself even if it wasn't exactly productive by any stretch of the imagination.

[ ] [Moon] Attempt to cook Kolo Mee
Roll 20

Kolo Mee had proved rather easy to make. At the end of the day it wasn't much more complicated than a stir-fry and Dr. Moon had already proven himself proficient in creating such meals even if working in Alaska did mean he had to make sure that the cooking area was sufficiently insulated. It was good to return to his hobby back in tip top form and entertain himself even when some of the work he'd been assigned to assist on had proven less than interesting and engaging.

[ ] [Lisa] Go shopping with Sam
Roll 14

Lisa liked to splurge every so often. When you were able to live the high life it almost became inevitable that a little indulgence was in order so that you could flaunt how good you had it. Heading to the Astro Mall and engaging in some retail therapy was always something Lisa was going to do. Of course Lisa didn't want to go shopping by herself so she'd convinced Sam to tag along. Now Sam wasn't going to be doing much shopping himself, so much as carrying stuff for Lisa and giving his thoughts on what she bought. Sam was practically ideal for the role. Sure he wasn't exactly a rocket scientist or a high brow fashion expert but he was easy to manipulate, honest to a fault and kind enough if you could get past some of the horndog tendencies. As such Lisa managed to get in a good shopping trip and she had her dedicated mule and evaluator to assist in the attempt. All in all life was good.

[ ] [Leonard] Reread LexCorp company policy
Roll 10

Rules were important even if you didn't follow them. After all which rules you broke determined what kind of response you'd be getting. Leonard was still working for LexCorp and he didn't want to rock the boat lest he end up on the receiving end of the wrath of one of the most powerful and influential men in America so you better believe he was going to keep a close eye on every last inane rule LexCorp through into their company policy. As such Leonard did his best to reread and review company policy every so often. The problem was that the policy was often some of the driest, wordiest most complicated shit Leonard had ever unfortunately had to try and sift through. It was probably done to cover all the lawyer bullshit that might come into play and had contingencies in place for a whole lot of theoretical scenarios but that didn't make it any less irritating to have to read the long list of dos and don'ts and procedures and protocols. Leonard usually gave up at a certain point and just started skimming and skipping to the parts he figured would be most relevant to himself and this time was no exception.

[ ] [Sam] Go whale watching
Roll 14

Sam wasn't exactly a big animal guy. If you couldn't eat it or make money from it then Sam was of the opinion that you were better off leaving the animals well enough alone. Still there was something neat about having the opportunity to see whales. They were huge animals and growing up in the middle of the States hadn't exactly given him a buttload of opportunities to see whales before. As such Sam had purchased a ticket to do some whale watching to see if he could figure out if there was something to this at all. Turns out there wasn't at least not for Sam. Sam apparently got utterly horrifically seasick and so he'd ended up suffering throughout the trip even if though he had managed to see a whale. He was never going to do this again.

[ ] [Mick] Try to pick up boxing
Roll 18

Finally Mick found a hobby that worked for him to destress a bit. It wasn't necessarily the most practical thing in the world but being able to burn off tension by just hitting something was satisfying in its own right even if it wasn't very calming long term. Mick wasn't exactly a champion boxer and he doubted he'd ever be, too much bad habits formed from street fights that caused him to default to bad form, but it was entertaining enough and he got a sense of fulfillment from it so he couldn't ask for much more.

[ ] [Lucy] Check up on Lois
Roll 3

Lois had mostly been recovering from the accident that had put her into the hospital when Lucy had decided to check up on her to make sure everything worked out okay. As much issues as Lucy had with her older sister she didn't want her dead or crippled and so she liked to check on her to make sure things were okay. Unfortunately while Lucy was in the hospital waiting room she'd run into her father who'd apparently also decided to visit Lois. Lucy had tried to talk to her dad but her father used it as an opportunity to criticize her for her life choices. Lucy had tried to argue for why what she was doing was just as important and good as what Lois did and the argument slowly escalated until Lucy eventually stormed off without seeing Lois and making sure she was alright. After all if her father was there then Lois was probably okay and Lucy could go somewhere where she was appreciated.

[ ] [Meena] Enjoy the LexCorp cafeteria ice cream
Roll 16

Ice cream was a simple primal joy. It tasted good and so people liked to have it. Naturally one of the perks of working for a big name company like LexCorp was that Meena had plenty of opportunities to eat and enjoy ice cream. Most responsible adults would tell you that binging on ice cream while you were engaging in literal rocket science wasn't a good idea but most adults also didn't have a particle named after them so what did they know? Meena knew her limits and so she could indulge herself in eating ice cream. There were 32 flavors of ice cream across all of the different LexCorp cafeteria's was she supposed to just not eat any of them? No, Meena knew what she wanted and she went for it. And as such that meant that her personal fridge had a few containers of LexCorp cafeteria ice cream in it for whenever she wanted an unhealthy snack.

[ ] [Snow] Celebrate the progress on the Cold Engine
Roll 20

Caitlin felt like she was on top of the world! Metaphorically, not literally of course, even if the Cold Engine did sometimes create sub-zero temperatures as she worked on it. Still Caitlin was practically bursting with happiness. She and her mentor had practically done it! They'd taken theory and practically proven it and basically overturned the entire scientific community's understand of physics and potentially solved all energy problems going forward from here! It was incredible and spectacular and just sensational and Caitlin's mind just ran a mile a minute simply trying to comprehend the fact that the Cold Engine would be a reality soon. As such Caitlin decided to have a celebration over the progress of this groundbreaking, earthshaking advancement in science that would cement her name in history alongside people like Newton, Einstein and Edison. Caitlin went wild planning this party and had invited a ton of coworkers and colleagues to celebrate. She'd jubilantly let loose because of how incredible the achievement was and simply enjoyed herself. She'd ended up somewhat regretting the party after she woke up the next day with a massive hangover but even that didn't keep her spirits down due to just what she had accomplished.

[ ] [Louise] Avoid spending time with anyone
Roll 9

Louise simply did not like dealing with people. At this point practically everyone knew it and by extension everyone ought to have known to leave her alone. However due to Caitlin's weak=minded vapid little celebration people kept on coming up to her in the following weeks and offering her congratulations. The constant interactions severely irritated Louise even if she did her best to control herself. She wished that people would stop congratulating her and instead would just let her finish her project and her masterpiece. All the people she was forced to interact with ended up doing nothing but wasting her time.

[ ] [Vivian] Recheck Deux D'Aramis' records
Roll 14

Deux D'Aramis was Vivian's responsibility and as such she was determined to make sure it was a success. After all the more she managed to prove herself the more likely it would be that she and her sister could separate themselves from the parent company's overbearing influence. Furthermore it was another chance for Vivian to prove to herself that she could succeed. As such Vivian poured over the company's records and luckily found no obvious discrepancies. It seemed as though everything was going to work out for her.

[ ] [Constance] Play racquetball against Vivian D'Aramis
Roll 15

Constance was well aware that her sister tended to stress over things. With Deux D'Aramis beginning to expand its operations Vivian's stress was now at an all time high. As such it was up to Constance to reassure her and keep her from bursting a blood vessel through all the stress and worrying. A few games of racquetball had ended up helping to calm Vivian down and Constance was able to enjoy the moment as well. They had a lot of work ahead of them so now was the time to get level before diving into the deep end.

[ ] [Frost] Measure how long riding the elevator at LexCorp takes
Roll 2

Mr. Frost was a meticulous man who liked everything to be structured and ordered. When you had everything moving in lockstep with no discrepancies or surprises then that was when you achieved the best results. Mr. Frost often wanted to improve his efficiency and the efficiency of those beneath him. His latest idea on how to do this was to measure the amount of time riding in LexCorp's elevator's took so that schedules could be planned around them in order to minimize unnecessary delays and cut down on wasted time. As such he began to attempt to gather data in order to know what exact measures he would be proposing. Unfortunately outsiders constantly interfered in his elevator experiments, ruining all the data and turning what could have been a productive exploration into how to maximize LexCorp's success into nothing more than a waste of time.

[ ] [Warbow] Enjoy a picnic in nature
Roll 19

Oftentimes people undersold the value of what was already there to experience. A simple walk in the woods and some good food was enough for Nathan to simply be content with himself and happy. Away from all the work, the stress and the constant rush of city living, out in nature Nathan could be at peace. It wouldn't last of course but Nathan liked to savor all of these little moments regardless.

[ ] [Paige] search for gray hairs
Roll 1

Paige knew that she couldn't exactly turn back the clock. She was getting older and her imperfections only grew with time. It was awful and terrible and the creeping dread of realizing all of her good points would be swallowed up by deformities and imperfections and hideousness constantly ate ate Paige. She needed to check to see what was going. Constantly Paige would go and check on herself in order to figure out what was going. Eventually as she went through the now ever present morning routine, she discovered a grey hair in what was once utterly pristine. Paige had to fix it, she had to fix it, the grey hair was wrong and bad and everything was going and she needed to fix it. She promptly bought several bottles of hair dye and did her level best to repeatedly dye her hair black so that no one could ever spot the new imperfection that now marred her features.

[ ] [Lana] Try to join the poker games hosted by Leonard Snart
Roll 18

Lana was an alright poker player. She didn't consider herself to be amazing but she'd picked up a thing or two in college and high school and new the rules. The games were fun if you weren't taking it super-seriously. As such when she'd heard that Leonard Snart sometimes hosted poker games Lana figured she could try her hand at it and maybe get to know some of her coworkers. Leonard Snart had tersely tried to warn her off, citing that Sam would likely be there but Lana insisted that she'd be fine as she could handle herself. Eventually Leonard relented and agreed to let her join in but once more warned her that despite having been through sensitivity training multiple times, when technically "off-the-clock" Sam would freely engage in crude behavior. Still when the actual game rolled around Sam was a no show and Lana ended up having a good time. She'd ended up getting cleaned out by the other players but she felt like she'd fit in decently well with them and had a few good conversations. Maybe she'd try again at a later date.

[ ] [Rene] Argue with Rebecca Carstairs about arthouse films
Roll 14

Rene was not an actress and never had been one but that didn't make her opinions on media any less valid for it. Rebecca Carstairs had been an actress and held distinctly different views on the arthouse films they'd both watched. Rene often cringed at the more symbolic and unfocused films, comparing them to little more than an exploitation of the Barnum effect to make people think that they were deeper than they actually were while Rebecca insisted that the directors often had clear and specific visions and that there was merit to intentional ambiguity. It was nice to talk about movies even if most of the conversation degenerated into a shouting match at some point or another.

[ ] [Vic] Lecture Rose Wilson on decorum and manners
Roll 10

Elaine couldn't help but see something of herself in Rose Wilson. Sure the younger woman was of poorer stock and held little class but she could hardly be chastised for her parents poor breeding. Rose was a teenager who knew what she wanted and knew how to make use of violence to get what she wanted in a way that matched up with what Elaine had felt when she was similarly young and tempestuous. Sure Rose was far more boorish and classless then Elaine ever had been but that was hardly her fault even if it still was a point against her. As such in order to assist the young woman, Elaine figured she'd teach Rose something about decorum and manners so that she'd be capable of moving into the higher levels of society when she inevitably realized that wallowing in short term classless indulgence would get her nowhere. Initially the girl had proven somewhat receptive to Elaine's lecture nodding along and silently listening to her better but eventually Rose grew more and more irritated until she finally shouted "shut up mom" at Elaine. Rose had quickly stormed off in embarrassment after her indignant little display of immaturity and Elaine had mixed feelings over the whole thing. She was most certainly not maternal in any way but she could at least conclude that one of Rose's parents had been decent if she'd tried to beat some manners into her before.

[ ] [Wells] Go deer hunting
Roll 12

People liked to make a whole stink about the sanctity of life. "Shooting and killing things is wrong" they'd cry out, not knowing that shooting and killing things was what kept them safe at night and put food on their table. People made all kinds of odd distinctions about life and death and tried to assign a whole bunch of meaning to it. Edward didn't buy into that. There was no meaning in life or in death. Killing deer and killing humans was really the same thing, a demonstration of skill on the part of the killer and ineptitude and weakness on the part of those that died. There was no grandiose reason for why he did what he did beyond practical concerns and his own personal enjoyment. Edward had made a career out of shooting people and bleeding hearts would complain about it. He was confident that bleeding hearts would also complain about him hunting and killing deer. Edward didn't care. So long as he could live happy then everything didn't matter and something felt oh so satisfying about hunting and shooting another living being.

[ ] [Jade] Take a copy of Alice in Wonderland from the Luthor personal library
Roll 2

Jade knew well enough that in any sort of deal there were always unspoken rules and regulations and restrictions. The people in charge wouldn't outline them unless forced to but they'd come down on you hard fi you broke those rules. Jade chafed under this more heavy handed approach and so she liked to push to figure out just how much she could get away with. Jade decided that she'd like to check out a book from the Luthor personal library. She'd always had a fondness for Alice in Wonderland and so she figured she might as well take the book from LexCorp to read if no one was using it. And so she made her way into the library intent on taking the book. She'd gotten past the rather basic and rudimentary security when she realized that there were dozens of camera's pointing at her that had recorded her getting into the library. As such Jade ended up abandoning the attempt. Sure she didn't like rules and restrictions but if she pushed too hard too fast and without any thought she was as good as dead. She'd settle for maybe getting in trouble for going where she wasn't supposed to as opposed to being punished for stealing the Luthor family's property. Maybe later she could push a bit harder but for now she was going to back off and abide by the unspoken rules.

[ ] [Barbara] Ask Felicity questions about what working at LexCorp full time is like
Roll 18

Barbara had a whole bunch of questions to ask Ms. Smoak about what working at LexCorp full time was like. Sure she had at least some idea but it was better to gather additional information. At some point Barbara was going to graduate into the work force and look at transitioning her internship experience into either resume material or an application for a full time job. Barbara liked working at LexCorp well enough but working with you-know-who had given her a different perspective and a different career path she could pursue to potentially go forward in life. Felicity's responses about working at LexCorp kind of only furthered Barbara's ambivalence. LexCorp was simultaneously a very restricted and unrestricted work place and when you worked at the highest level if you weren't absolutely exceptional you often had to contend with strong outlandish and unpleasant personalities. She'd be able to pursue what interested her provided LexCorp found it profitable enough but she'd also have deal with being utterly unable to dissent with the company in any meaningful way and would constantly be told what to do by someone higher up the corporate ladder. LexCorp did good work, Barbara knew that, but it was hard to trust someone's enlightened self-interest when they effectively had their own internal secret police. Barbara had more information but nothing that would help her come to a final conclusion about what career path she ought to take in the future.

[ ] [Cub] Play more with Packmate (Play with Cassandra)
Roll 17

Janus usually did not get to see Packmate much nowadays. Ever since she'd started making human noises she'd grown more and more busy, always dealing with some human or another. Janus didn't mind all that much but it was a bit saddening to have it happened. He was still the king of the pride but some days it didn't feel like he had much of one in the building. Luckily today Packmate was free and was able to play. She brought him tribute, as was proper, which meant he got to enjoy himself and squeaky-bite things and fun mice on strings for him to bat around and practice his hunting skills with! He couldn't pounce on Packmate and wrestle with her anymore but he could certainly practice stalking and help her sharpen her skills in doing so as well. It was a day of fun without any stupid monkeys or humans or bright red mystery dots or anything getting in the way. Janus could just be happy and play with Packmate.

[ ] [Monkey] Watch the many-animals person (Watch Mari McCabe use practice with her powers)
Roll 13

The many-animals person scared Snowy. She looked like a human but sometimes she was a wolf or an eagle of a big scaly thing with sharp teeth or all kinds of monsters that Snowy had never seen before. Anything big and with a lot of teeth was bad news and would eat and hurt Snowy if it had the chance to. But sometimes the many-animals person was a big monkey or a weird deer or a bug and Snowy felt safe there. Most of the time many-animals person was a human but she tended to shift what she was only when alone which made Snowy think that the changing was a secret. He watched the many-animals person to see if he could figure out the secret. After all if Snowy could figure out how to turn into an elephant he wouldn't have to be scared of as many things with lots of teeth because then he'd be bigger than them. And so Snowy watched and watched and watched but he just couldn't figure out how to be a different animal. And so he left to go get grapes knowing that he'd have more opportunities to learn the many-animal person's secrets.

Ok not bad we can start to perform necromancy on IVO and Snow is in love with her life. We want to send Paige to a therapist. Maybe we should make the lion sapient because why have those pesky moral ethics

Aah, Snowy wants Red powers. Huh, we... Really should research The Red, seems the most likely way to turn Janus and Snowy into Hero Units. Is there anyway for us to study Rex the Wonder Dog? I just know we should really research the Red for the sheer number & potency of rewards. Like, at least equal to the Cold Engine if not greater.
