Blood, Sweat, and Tears (WH40k Design Bureau)

You do not have the traditions to make useful strategic predictions. Not like the fate-based sight of Eldar Farseers.

I would allow you to do such a project however. Though it would be... Risky, in a way that I am not currently sure how I would model, and limited in capability.
Okay, so "portents and omens" instead of "they will do that, that, and that," gotcha.

@DaLintyGuy I would imagine that the procedure for developing this thing is doing so in a blacksite with several nuclear bombs, should things get just that tiny bit too fucky, Boom. And should things go out of hand too fast, daemonportal and possesed psykers galore, fun times for the whole military!

And a mid-battle fuck-up would be insta daemon-ship. One the Tzeentchy's would very like...

Not quite. Daemonships are a bit more involved to make. But there are larger problems with taking cues from a group of psykers, and Calavar does not have the Warp suppressants needed for active defense of said complement (hexa/pentagrammatic wards, psychoreactive materials, etc).
So, it is doable, but very dangerous right now? Or do you mean that we would only be able to boost the power with no, or lowered, defences?

Doable but unreliable and dangerous. Extra work may ameliorate these problems.

Although, you might be able to get some sort of help from the Sororitas... Hm.
Yeah, I was about to mention them. I mean, the SoB are very effective at resisting corruption and we also have access to a shrine-world. There should be something there.

Edit: to clarify: it chould be that ecclesiarchy cleric "whatshisface" remembers a legend of a prayer that lets a priest/group of priests consecrate a location against the corruption of the warp/deamon-fuckery in the archive "thatplacethere".

Or we could throw some money at our psykers to figure out how to ward stuff. They should have (low-level) foci, figuring out how to divert the attention of the warp should be doable in the ten years of a turn (unless I am remembering the time you gave wrong), at least the absolute basics.

Vote is currently unanimous but it would be remiss of me to not give a twelve hour warning until the close. And after that... This will not be a short writing period I feel. :/
Got a lot of high impact butchery to run through, all over the place.

Ork WAAAGHs tend to be that way yes.

I'm expecting significant losses in our 3rd Naval Squadron and probably in the forces we are sending against Legcutta. Homna is effectively a sacrificial play so I'm mostly writing those armies off.

@DaLintyGuy is there any way we could get Balagog to send it's light cruiser to help at Uniary, IE let them have all the M output from Uniary and the defenses we've built there in exchange for them also sending their light cruiser to help us against Legcutta?

Its possible, though Bagalog has their own list of Stuff to be doing as Calavar has historically been rather good at beating the Orks.

Vote officially locked, update to come... Whenever it gets done.

At least the First Patrol Squadron is in position-ish. If you squint.

I am guessing that the traditional bucket of dice that the tabletop game requires is going to come in handy?:drevil:

Shit. Should have seen that coming. Bastards are going to raid Calavar. Probably loot some of our production or even try to steal the half built Audacity.

Fucking hell. This is why I've been wanting to build up defenses in all our holdings for some time. So that if our fleet is occupied fixed defenses can tell attackers to fuck off.

And we can't even really retaliate right now since the Chaos fucks are behind Moderate level of defenses and we need a good way of clearing mine fields. We'd probably need a hefty fleet centered around a light cruiser to have a chance at cracking the defenses.

*sigh* if we manage to keep the Audacity from being stolen or destroyed during its construction then top priority is finishing it next turn and second top priority is forting up everything. I want a defense station in Calavar plus a shit load of ground defenses and a void army dedicated to defending the shipyards.

Arming the Monitors is an extremely cheap way of doing so, at least.

So I think we should build a pair of monitors based off the Spatha hull:
-[] Buckler Class Monitor (42 M)
--[] Spatha-class Hull (5M)
--[] Standard Macrocannon Battery MkII (5M)
--[] Standard Macrocannon Battery MkII (5M)
--[] Scaffold Armor (2M)
--[] Bubble-type Rapid Shield (6M)
--[] Corona-Pattern PD Array (2M, Replaces Warp drive)
--[] Repair Deck (2M)
--[] Militarized Engine (3M)
--[] Groupsight Combat Bridge (4M)
--[] T-100 Auspex (2M)
--[] Redoubt Life Support (3M)
--[] Bastion Housing (3M)

2 of these would be only 84 M and probably be more dangerous than 6 refitted monitors due to better speed and concentrated firepower. Note that I downgraded the sensors to save cost since they don't need long-range sensors due to having short-ranged weapons. They mount Corona PD because we don't typically have much fighter support in our defenses.
Also, using these would let us protect our shipyard and the planet, unlike a stationary platform.

On the topic of research, it occurred to me that we should not bother continuing to research thermo-cavitation shell manufacturing, for the following reasons:
1. Building the shells without Mechanicus involvement will need 5M. That is too expensive to be justifiable. I mean, the new torpedoes cost only 3 M each, yet we barely built any new torpedoes despite their relatively low cost.
2. The whole point was we were hoping to use the shells more often, but the 5M cost makes that impracticable.

As such, we should instead research explosive shells, since they should provide a damage boost without being too expensive for a mass rollout.

Still, next turn we will need to dedicate as much as possible to shipbuilding. Even if there are requests to provide M in exchange for research slots, we should not take them, because right now we need M more than we need research slots

Yeah. No. While we probably need to replace losses we need to build up defenses. Ground and space. We've neglected defenses for far too long. The Incleon raid should damn well be a wake up call.
