It could, from a layman's perspective, have plausibly been a sub commander who detected multiple megaton-range detonations and was then unable to get in contact with his superiors. You could even have a short side-story/prequel about the American high command desperately trying to get in contact with the sub to tell them about the asteroid so they they don't launch and failing. That would be pretty grim though.

Pretty sure once the nukes started going in bulk there wasn't really going to be much in the way of long distance communications, what with relay points blowing and direct beam would be drowned out by the EMP effects. So it'd be down to the man on site making the choice to shoot back and stop them shooting even more by force, or to hold fire and hope its a tragic misunderstanding

Honestly, ever since hearing it I've thought that the ending song from Nier Automata would be a good fit. Weight of the World

"I wish that some way, somehow, that I could save every one of us, but the truth is that I'm only one girl."

Fanart - Renu - Sketches of Sandra and Albion
Since the thread is alive again, have some sketches of Sandra and Albion.

Tried to distance myself from the more "it's just magic by another name, also, I really like Warframe's design" of the others. Added more plating and one additional articulation so the last part of each limb is entirely mechanic given weapons and thrusters are supposed to be there and fire burns.

(given the name and the whole Nobless Oblige of Sandra, the inspiration is half knight and half pilot helmet)

Maybe a bit too Knightmare frame/infinite stratos... dunno.

Feels gundam-y to me instead.

...huh, Sandra's basically a New Type, isn't she?

@Avalanche do we have to worry about Sandra pulling a colony orbital drop?
Knightmare frames also are from a Sunrise license, so... same thing, honestly. I just watched more Code Geas than Gundam, so I thought about the Frames first. (though the helmet does look very Zaku-ish, with the gasmask tube going out, now that I look again)

In the style of Gundam, and onto other people? Nah. Once there is no common enemy (mostly) uniting mankind, she might, but as of right now, Sandra has no plans to drop big space rocks onto the Earth on humans. For people who would drop massive rocks from space onto humans instead of Antagonists, well, who'd do that? They'd be crazy.

You'd need like, a setting heavily inspired by Muv-Luv and for that setting to have a generally pessimistic tone for people like that to exist.

Those missiles are slightly suspicious looking to my QQ-visitting eyes. :V

Also, while I know Anna can configure her halberd into an actual stick configuration, I mentally frown at it because it's not the claws configuration with which she rips and tears until it is done.

RIP AND TEAR!!

The missile looks strange. There are definitely better ways to place fins for steering or flight stabilisation. Also, was it ever mentioned what kind of melee weapon Anna uses?

Default configuration is to shoot the plasma out of her fingertip to form claws, if I remember correctly, but when extruded into its full form it become a spear/polearm.

Setsuna's Kousenjoubi can shift its naginta into claws:
Setsuna changes the form of her melee halberd as Syifa closes, claws and extra plates covering her gauntlets while spurs and spikes cover her lower legs.
For Durga, the only mention of the second configuration is this:
Melee Halberd, Plasma Lance * 1 (Handheld or emitters on fingertips)
According to a threadwide search, Avalanche never called them claws. Considering that Anna wouldn't want to waste Impeller on curving plasma, I find it more likely that the fingertip emitters project straight spikes/blades.

It's made of plasma.
All melee halberds we've seen so far combine a solid base with plasma blades, so "made of plasma" is a bit misleading.

No, pretty sure only Anna and maybe other Aces have. At the very least I'm certain that Kojiro's is just a 'normal' sword.
