Pretty good work on the pop graph, though as you said it doesn't account for further chains of collapse and domino effects. Also, last post of page 1000!

Huh, would have thought Anna would be higher on Cyber-optimization then Coke-zero considering what she did to her own body. Or is that the extreme regard for the sanctity of other humans pulling down her willingness to APPLY UPGRADES?
Anna's text box is actually higher than Koujirou's on the y-axis. The text boxes are what's used to show alignment, the character portraits are just there to look pretty.

Made it just in time for 1000 pages, whew.

So as part of this little project I'm working on, I ended up running the numbers for (almost) every country in the world to figure out who the big dogs are after Impact.
I tried to get the world population under 1 billion in accordance with various calculations done in this thread, but the best I could manage without compromising too much was 1.5 billion. Close enough right?
I also somehow managed to misplace 300 million people somewhere, but who cares.

BAHHSCQ Nations Post-Impact
Don't mind the references to "CPs" or "scenario". Everything is proceeding according to it.
RIP vietnam is once again occupied by china. I can already see SEA is going to be a major test for the UN on whether they can maintain human unity once the antags are dealt with.

I already knew that Finland got fucked up due to having a Breach in our capital, but still, ouch.

lmao - Avalanch - 2020/10 art
1000 pages. So about 1 update every 50.
Shit.

Uhhh, in lieu of an update, here's a shitty sketch of what I imagine Perth Arcology to look like (not to scale). I couldn't describe the helix around the primary residential tower well in update 21 and that bothered me, so I tried drawing it out, then uh, took a picture of it on my phone.
200 IQ.

Artists, if you need help uploading high quality work online, hit me up for advice.

Well you also average 10k words to an update, and that's only because the first half dozen or so drag the average down. Seriously man once you're writing 30k word updates you should really step back and ask yourself if there are any scene transitions that would let you break it up into four updates of 5-10k words each and then post those over the course of a month. Really helps with the pacing.

While a fun Quest, at this point the only chance to ever finish it would be to either cut down a lot on what we can actually vote or turn it into an original story.

>5 years since Perth was attacked (or however long that timer was at)

Then they slap Anna right at the top of the living area as close to the surface as possible while still having her in the academy.

It makes sense, the other Aces and Instructors are probably similarly high, but it is an interesting if not-so-surprising insight in hindsight.

This is pretty well in keeping with other such locational decisions. Just look at the elite cafeteria:
The Elite Cafeteria is a very pragmatic decision by the people in charge:
Where three were located towards the perimeter, the fourth was located towards the center of the Academy, above the classrooms and closer to the surface observation rooms. Nominally all equal, Yukari noted that they were not so in practice.

"It's one of those things about elite Valkyries I noted earlier. There is an informal rule that the fourth Cafeteria can only be used by elites Valkyries and those they invite, doesn't matter which year, just that your practical score qualifies you to be an elite. Since scores are public record, anyone can check. Some of the elites don't care for it, me included, but enough do that it's part of the unwritten rules. The Academy probably allows it to encourage competition."
You were almost loath to leave the fantastical simulation, but force yourself out and walk for the surface observation towers. Acknowledging the notice that exiting the Arcology without a Valkyrie synchronised was an offence, you exit to the surface.

Because giving all your elite trainees a subtle incentive, private cafeteria, to spend their free time right next to the surface exit is totally a coincidence right? It is in no way intended to make it easier for them to get to the surface and either flee or fight should the Antagonists attack.

It's a really neat design choice. Being able to spam Valks in an opening salvo could be a life or death play for an acroloy.

Still kind of surprise or well it might just be the medium. But I kind of figured the top of the complex would have more guns then you could shake a fleet of WW2 battleships at. That or full Rebuild of Evangelion.

I think this might eventually be one of those long stories where time passes faster irl than in the story, surprisingly. Thanks for what you have written so far! Glad to know this quest isn't dead. Sacrificing 50,000 imaginary dollars to a random eldritch being truly paid off.

Actually leaving it bare makes sense. An Arcology's greatest defense is its Impeller field and firing any weapons mounted to the roof would require open holes in that Impeller field. Yes they are very short duration holes but we know Sekhmet (a primarily artillery Type-Zero) has the reflexes to attack through the tiny holes required for Anna's HPP:
It's risky even for a valkyrie if they use the instinctive basic Impeller techniques that allows for a laser to pass through their Impeller which makes part of the Impeller transparent to EM radiation of that frequency. Same with kinetic weaponry, the instinctive technique to allow kinetic projectiles through your Impeller is to create a small tunnel where objects are not stopped by Impeller. You can, in other words, completely bypass the Impeller of something that is careless with it by shooting through the gun barrel.

It even happens to you, every single time you fired at Sekhmet, he stabbed your cannons. Your lost 4 at once in this fashion as the energy was carried through your extended components into your storage and destroyed the actual cannons inside your storage. You can get around this by setting your Impeller to have the property of 'outwards bound energy only' but that reduces its efficiency.

Instead I suspect the land surrounding the Arcology is studded with automated defenses, kind of like you see used against Ramiel in Rebuild but pointing outwards, that are expected to be expended as part of a stalling operation while awaiting reinforcements. Still the primary defense of the Arcology likely comes down to the Valkyries and mundane forces stationed in and around it:
Groups of Valkyries fly along the outer perimeters of Perth on return routes, mostly Third year cadets from their signals, transport jets take off and land at the various airfields nearby and patrolling combat fighters are circling the Arcology, but nothing is in close enough proximity to be damaged by the likely side effects of your experiment.

I further suspect that the Arcology has hidden underground tunnels that lead to surface access hatches for drones. That way the Arcology can be continually pumping out drone reinforcements without worrying about creating a hole for Antagonists to attack through.
