Fanart - semantron - Valkyries, tall and small

    • I enjoyed reading this a lot (so much so I reread it several times) and it inspired me to make some quick/rough fanart. I based the uniform off of Renu's design in the media tab, not sure if the colors are completely correct though. The uniform looks cute with a longer skirt too; are there season based uniform variations in arcologies?

    Ah, I see, a web comic, no wonder I wasn't getting any hits, I was looking in the wrong places. I'm going to have to give that a pass. My eyes aren't really up to web comics anymore.

    For stuff similar to BAHHSCQ, there's also To The Stars. It's a far future Madoka fanfic about magical girls fighting aliens with tech, magic, and just a pinch of insanity. Link

    I second the folks saying "a year is a long time but also 30k is a LOT of words". I'd definitely be happy with shorter updates if it means they can be more frequent—and this being a quest, it seems like (a) that would help the players feel more involved, and (b) you might get some good creative ideas from the discussion after each post, so it might actually help your overall writing speed?
     
    Due to this thread, I went to read Knight Run. At first, I liked it because I could see the clear influences on the story, like "Types" and even character names... But as the story continued, I started to have suspicions of how it'd end and I went to spoiler myself.

    Why. Just why. I like BAHHSCQ because it's all about Anna being badass, but also finding friendship and healing. Knight Run is... From what I've gathered, it's much more tragic. I am definitely praying Anna does not go in that direction.

    It'll either be a tragedy, a cluster fuck or an epic, well struggled for victory that was worthwhile even if it didn't come without cost.

    I don't think Setsuna is that small, she should reach Anna's chest at least, so a head taller than what is on the sketch... otherwise marvelous
     
    Remember that Anna's been steadily, if subtly shrinking since she was extracted from her home area; IIRC, she started at well over 6'6', and even now is around the 6' margin.

    Setsuna is somewhere in the 4'8"-5' range, so in the latter case, the top of her head would be level with Anna's breasts, when Anna's at her current height.

    Has she shrunk that much? And did we ever figure out why? I liked Anna being freakishly tall.

    Also, Anna's not in perpetual battle anymore so it's hypothesized that Durga's taking the opportunity to optimize and compact all the weird internal systems that had to be rammed into Anna's body and necessitated the large height.

    To put that into perspective the average female head is 21.8cm and Anna is ~21cm taller then Shuri. So Anna is literally a full head taller then Shuri. Setsuna meanwhile at a full 41cm shorter would be eye level with the bottom of Anna's ribs and when talking to her be staring up into Anna's (nonexistent) breasts.

    Which incidentally means that Setsuna's relative height is actually pretty close to accurate vs. Anna.
     
    You know I was recently reminded of the seven deadly sins anime (some fun songs out there) and realised there are seven main characters bahsq
    Of course the only way forward is to assign characters their sin so here are my ideas

    Anna- wrath because tell me anyone else can top inner Anna's hate levels and I may do a bender laugh which is not even getting into the small details cough*first chapter Setsuna interaction*cough. If you were watching the anime it might look like a superficial gluttony but once the backstory is in account and the fact her has stored up starvation ration not for herself it's for others.(I am not sure if this was disused in thread but she is capable of literally eating everything and she was surrounded by staving people if those meals are for her I will be surprised)

    Now after that I think it gets a lot harder given we are not in there heads so I would like to hear what you think of my thoughts here.
    Coke Zero- hard the only one that comes to mind is sloth for sleeping though stuff but that was comedy maybe greed in the full metal alchemist sense of power to protect your guys

    Setsuna I see with 2 options of envy seen with of power of aces or Sandra superiority. The other is lust because I don't think of any other character that actually seems to want to get into a relationship with the only other way for lust to show up is with either lust for life idea.

    I could be told wrong but I can see shuri's sin as pride didn't really take being not the best or injured well from what we saw. Lack of care for others peoples opinions could also fit into this.

    For Sandra I could see two ways of going about it one as gluttony which is mostly a result of how indulgent her background is her with pool and all. The other is lust as desirable look at that hair people

    Yukari is flawless and she is best girl
    A tad more seriously maybe greed for safety of family mostly because I don't really know what else to put here

    The other childhood friend?
    Maybe because she is older the lust idea could be explored but frankly i have no idea as it was years after her flashback appearance could be envy over other people moving on a poor attempt at taking the wrath crown from Anna but it has been to long to really get a concrete view.

    Well first, let's be sure we are all using the same definitions.

    To paraphrase Wikipedia:
    • Lust: intense longing or unbridled desire for sex, money, or power, etcetera.
    • Gluttony: overindulgence or overconsumption to the point of waste.
    • Greed: artificial, rapacious desire and the pursuit of material possessions.
    • Sloth: the absence of interest or habitual disinclination to exertion.
    • Wrath: uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, or hatred.
    • Envy: sad or resentful covetousness toward another's traits or possessions.
    • Pride: dangerously corrupt selfishness.
    Now it's hard to say for some characters, made especially difficult because all we know of Katie is that she wanted Setsuna to call her big sis and she answered to call to fight an unstoppable enemy at age ten.
    • Anna, who possibly has a suppressed personality made out of murderous rage and who was honestly prepared to murder a classmate over some thoughtless remarks, is totally Wrath.
    • Yukari, who is basically defined by her feelings of inadequacy, would be Envy.
    • Setsuna, who wants to be powerful, respected (by Koujirou), and attractive (to Koujirou) would be Lust.
    • Sandra, who has a private plane with its own pool, would be Gluttony.
    • Shuri, who doesn't fit Pride or Sloth and who hangs out with the rich girl, is by default Greed.
    • Koujirou, who half-asses everything that he isn't interested in, would be Sloth.
    • Katie, by default and I guess as someone who was a child prodigy who ran off to war, must be Pride.
