When putting experimental physics on experimental physics one must be prepared for unforeseen consequences.

So in other words, anyone who properly integrates a higgs generator into their frame has to keep their frame permanently extended.
Well, makes sense that it's not a problem for arcologies or battleships, then.

Edit: waitaminute, doesn't the process of integrating something into a valkyrie frame normally require putting that thing into your storage space?
Huh. Does that mean higgs generators aren't 'officially' integrated into the valkyrie frame?
Perhaps Sabrefathers welding analogy was a little off. I guess it gets welded on either way.

That's correct, they are more along the lines of plug and play instead of integrated circuits. There's some complicated background setting reason as to why this is, but if it stays out of focus during this quest I probably won't ever need to say why that is.

So wait, does that mean that If Anna ever get her hand on one, she won't have to wait a fucking decade for it to integrate with her frame ?

It won't ever integrate. It'll be something to carry around outside of your frame like what you're currently doing with the Higgs reactor. Generators are smaller than your reactor though, so it will be a smaller hindrance, and a much more powerful component.

Huh.
I was not expecting higgs generators to be smaller than higgs engines, given that 'make higgs' seems more complicated than 'burn higgs'.
Edit: wait, the way you're saying it, it almost sounds like a higgs reactor would be unnecessary with the generator attached. Can generators also use higgs reaction mass?

while disappointing if true i guess i can see the logic in improving the weakest link in the flight considering anna can already in theory kill Class-D Type Zeros with just nomming higs from mooks.

Higg reactors activate 'Higgs reaction mass' which generates an Higgs particles that can then create an effect as intended, a Higgs generators can generate Higgs particles directly, rather than going through the whole HP -> HRM -> reactor -> HP cycle.

You won't need a reactor if you have a generator.

Just my two cents, but...

A Higgs generator isn't just a flat upgrade, you need skill to do anything with it. Even some of Anna's instructors, among which are members of The Twenty (e.g. Dalisay Vivas, rank eight), had to brush up their Higgs manipulation for the WFM tests. While Koujirou doesn't need to reach that standard, I seriously doubt the MC will be able to properly use Higgs particles anytime soon.

Actually, is Higgs manipulation part of the curriculum at all, or is it an elective / specialist skill? The only other student we know who has a Higgs engine is Shuri, an Ace Valkyrie with years of combat experience. Yukari's frame Nue doesn't, and she's a third year.

You won't need a reactor if you have a generator.
And by the time he has the necessary skill, he can have our old reactor while we take the generator. :p

Ace Specialist. Though it's more "You have to be this swole to even be allowed to touch Higgs."

Cool.
And having higgs particles is all you need in order to say UNLIIIIMITED POWER and get an endless energy budget?

Kinda:
If you manage to get a Higgs Generator from a Hive or a Type Zero, to tap directly into the Higgs field and generates Higgs reaction mass, then you have functionally unlimited energy, though power is still a concern.
Basically a Higgs Generator sets your endurance to unlimited, barring other consumables, but can only output so much energy per second (power) so if Anna was doing a bunch of high energy stuff simultaneously she could still drain her batteries.

That make sense?
