You guys keep saying the wrong one. TACNET doesn't want her there, STRATNET does. Very different functions.

Tactics 1. The art or science of disposing military or naval forces for battle and maneuvering them in battle.

Strategy 1. The science or art of combining and employing the means of war in planning and directing large military movements and operations.

Now at the summit of the UN Valkyries you have The Trinity and The Valkyrie above them. Like how the twenty are on a different level to the other aces, these four are undeniably just on a different level above even them. The 'Queens of Silver' and the 'Zero Breaker'.
Huh, so the actual Genius count is not exactly twenty but twenty plus 4? (Plus Anna)
:V
Episode 10: (???) -and it's time for the beginning of the Vanguard tournament! Oh look at all these matches, but it turns out they were replays. Screen pulls away, it's professor Onee sama helping Koujirou with tactics against the other competitors. Lets watch the previous matches and analyse our competition! We have a look at the tournament bracket and most threatening is Syifa, what do?
"Anna is also commenting and making the matches seem depressing."

On that note
TACNET rapidly passed a list of targeting priorities to Sandra for review. She looked it over for just a brief moment before dismissing it and formatting another target list on the fly. While it was somewhat tempting for her to simply allow TACNET to mark all of the Antagonists for Anna to eliminate, it would not be beneficial for the Flight as whole, or even Anna herself, to do so.

Apparently, during the simulation mission Sandra had to actively ignore TACNET because it kept replying with "Anna! Do Everything!"

In a flight with a mid ranked Ace.

So.

Sandra's been aware for some time now that Anna's mere presence massively distorts the UN's predictive models.

On a different note heres another thing I forgot from that update.
Sandra raises a slender eyebrow calmly, then crosses her arms and bows her head in thought, "Have we changed the topic to our Valkyrie Frames? I suppose Albion's exclusively torso and arm mounted weaponry does create a top heavy frame, but it greatly simplifies impact dampening."
Sandra won that argument and I don't know if she even realised it.

Well Shuri is focused on close range combat, so it makes sense to keep her in reserve until the types come running. Even if Anna was a mid/long range ace just a little above her in the ranks, she'd be doing most of the long range fighting, if they where fighting 'seriously'. But not nearly *all*, like it sounds like here.

Yeah it definitely let Sandra know something was up.

Don't we already have a Higgs Generator or something?

Nope. We have a Higgs Engine, which going by what Avalanche has said seems to just let us use Higgs, but not a Higgs Generator:
It also takes time to integrate new systems into a Valkyrie Core, which scales with the complexity of the component and the number of components already under control by the Valkyrie core, so even if you had been aware of what the difference was between a Higgs engine and a Higgs generator, which you weren't clear on back then, you probably wouldn't have stopped for it and rather just destroyed it so that other Antagonist would not be able to Salvage it.

The UN is extremely happy about managing to grab another Higgs Generator though, there'll probably be some argy bargy about what exactly to use it on and even maybe if they should give it to you, but that's for future arcs. Knowing the Genre, they'll probably give it to the MC for his midseason powerup.

I don't want to let that generator go. We got it by ourselves! It's ours! Let's take a couple actions of practicing with Higgs, then sign up for a combat mission appropriate for our rank (to suppress the 'you don't need it right now' argument) and requisition it.

Eh, we don't really need it though. For all practical purposes, with our onium capacitors, fusion reactor, solar dynamo, and energy dynamo, we already have more than enough power to deal with 99.9% of situations. The only time where we might conceivably need it is if we go up against a Class-C Type Zero or higher. Then, having more Higgs reaction mass than can be effectively used would be fantastic to shut down and counter the Type Zeros with their bullshit power.

If we want to win the war, that's exactly what we need to do, though. I'm not sure how fast our waveforce training and mental rehabilitation will progress, so I'd rather hurry up and wait when it comes to handling Higgs side of the preparations than be delayed later. Or worse, forced to head out and fight underequipped - that may easily cause extra casualties, and Anna is bad at dealing with those, doubly so when she could've prevented them by doing better.

Well, we have time. The current state of the War can largely be summed up as being a stalemate in humanity's favor. Things aren't going to change too much in two-three years. At least until the God Gun is finished, then all bets are off as we get to see how much havoc the AG's can cause in a last ditch attempt to crush Humanity.

Not really? I'd have to reread to find exact quote, but iirc there are at least two pairs of major Breaches that are currently growing towards each other and are likely to eventually fuse unless closed, at which point Antagonist military power will spike greatly. So the Antagonists are just stalling for time, as evidenced by Type 0's extremely conservative approach to fighting. These Breaches are unassailable on the ground due to multiple T0-A guardians, and the whole point of the God Gun project is to bypass that. However given that at least one T0-A has surface to outer space special attack, I won't be surprised if they manage to prevent that moon installation from firing twice.

The fact that the Antagonists are just stalling should be evident to everyone simply because there are no Class S Type Zeros yet. Gotta get that final boss for the protagonist lined up before things get serious.

and it's one pair of Minor Breaches, that will fuse into a Major Breach.

Also, while I do want to get the generator as well, I guess doing that until we at least untangle the mess that is Anna a bit would be a bad move.

Couldnt we ask for a higgs generator, learn range attack (blue wave?) and ask if the military would like Anna to spear-point any attacks on minor breaches? We only need to take down one of the two in Africa after all.

Should have voted for a training montage wave force instead of the tournament, eh.

Militarily perhaps. It is however not good for Anna's mental health, and it doesn't increase our plot relevance. It'd be something that happens in the background that Koujirou hears about and might, might get involved in in his third year at the earliest, very late in the anime.

It's interesting how the threads views on Anna's current mental state and combat capability can be so...incongruous?

If we are not quite sure whether Anna can commentate on a training tournament (where nobody is supposed to get hurt), how is she supposed to deal with actual combat missions? She won't be doing those alone and her allies will surely get hurt and die.

See, the main argument is about human V human stuff, pretty much everyone agrees she can kill Antagonists all day unless they start showing her pictures of her traumatic past without much PTSD poking up, it's just that people are more unsure related to how she'd react to things like that considering her town did start ripping itself apart from the inside.

But...surely the villagers fighting with each other didn't look anything like a Valk vs Valk tournament? The Crafting Club vs Electronics Club debacle was probably closer to what the problems inside the village looked like and Anna seemed to deal with that pretty well. (EDIT: Or just the Crafting Club arguing with itself, those girls get pretty serious about their elective.)

People getting hurt seems to be a bigger deal to Anna than the actual fighting and that part will definitely be present when she starts taking actual combat missions.

I strongly disagree. Productive, enjoyable activity that results in saving lives, undertaken together with people who understand her and whom she likes can't possibly be bad for mental health. If anything, it'll be therapeutic.

When it comes to combat missions afterwards, no one's going to rush her into a permanent station at the shittiest point - we're talking about something like a 10-20 days deployment every few months that would be well within her ability to handle. Once again, something she'll probably feel good about, in moderation, given that intense social interactions and feeling of making no progress are quite stressful to her, so she needs to take breaks.
and it doesn't increase our plot relevance.
Doesn't matter.

I didn't say I agree with that point, I just said what I believe to be what people are arguing about.

Also there are more ways to increase plot relevance than clinging desperately to the MC.

Anna doing short missions and perhaos eventually closing a minor breach would be good for her. Let her trust other Valkyries to also bear the burden. If we can steal the higgs generator from under the (unknown) MC's nose all the better.

Let's make Anna important on her own!
