As a commentator you need to ensure you have as much awareness of the fight as possible to commentate on. That means Anna going full sensor and best scenarios of 'well had this been actual combat Valk Jane would have just been murdered by Valk Janette because such and such'
Do you really think Anna wouldn't be doing that anyway?

That's honestly my biggest issue with votes like yours: she's going to be doing the same thing either way. If you voted so Anna left the area entirely so that she wasn't watching, 'd be okay with such a vote.
This just seems to be the same line of thinking as us thinking the Alaska simulation was remotely a good idea- and Anna absolutely suffered from that.
And, to play Devil's Advocate(aka, this isn't my actual view), it also made our team-leader and fellow ace aware that Anna is more fucked up then they thought, even if they weren't aware of the why and how.

A thought, is voting banned? Considering how large the update is, I'd figure a day or two vote 'delay' to make sure everyone has the time to read it (probably twice) so we can all discuss it well.

Also... it isn't threadmarked. And the episode list hasn't been updated.

Anyway time for me to read the update. This may take a while... I hope I don't get left out of the good discussions!
Curse you need for sleep!

Voting isn't banned afaik. But lock won't happen for a while.

Anna's not exactly commentator material...

Blue Wave: Expend all available Impeller and take minimal frame damage to deal very heavy damage in a line at any range.
0/1050 for Level 1.
Red Wave: Expend all available Impeller and take minimal frame damage to deal indiscriminate, enormous damage around you at short range.
0/1050 for Level 1.
I want some of that Blue Wave. So bad.
Previously, to generate explosions of that magnitude and power, you had to either consume multiple Types in a row for Higgs or bait Type Tens into activating their self destruct then teleport them to where you wanted the explosion. Neither method is very efficient at all, while the presence of Types guarding such fabrication facilities was almost guaranteed, the most common Type Sixteens held very little Higgs reserves and the most convenient of them, the Type Tens, were very rarely present in the labyrinthine tunnel networks that held the majority of the more important Antagonist structures.
"The defenders are too weak to make destroying it efficient"
The Crafting elective class disappears down the corridors.

You left standing awkwardly outside the Electronics elective classroom, feeling the weight of the stares as the entire class looks at you.

"Well… " says Cadet Hwang slowly, "At least you did get rid of them."

… Yay?
Yay!
"I've told you before Setsuna, you're perfectly fine, above average, even."

You agree, her Impeller control was around par with that of some early second year cadets, well above average for a first year.

"Maybe proportionally, but in absolute terms…" mutters Setsuna with a blush, looking down and away.

If in absolute terms referred to the entirety of the UN Valkyries, then yes, she was still lacking in her Impeller techniques.
I put my drink up my nose.

But really, she's fine, Japanese girl in an international group.
"I'm not here to-" your word stick in your throat, -run away, Anna. Do other, normal things. Live a childhood that I never could give you. Live on and be happy, please. You understand me right? You've always protected her. Will you remind her?-

"I- I would rather lose some freedoms than have other people dying on my watch," you say hesitantly. Where… where was that memory from, it's so vivid, but you don't… whispers from the grave.
Oh...now it's explained. Is that her father talking to Durga?
Sandra smiles sadly up at you, then steps forwards and hugs you.

…urk.

She isn't letting go.

You awkwardly pat her back in return.

The fact that Anna killed people during literally the lowest point in her life isn't relevant, because even the worst case scenario presented isn't even close to the same level as that event.
It is relevant; a post claiming Anna would never kill people in a worst case is demonstrably false because she has already done so. Notice the usage of the article "a", meaning in general, not just that one he wrote.
Since when has Anna ever looked with just her eyes?
Since she was eight.

There is a humongous difference between watching something trying to relax or cheering on your team members and commentating on something, especially if you're supposed to be a technical commentator like people are suggesting.
As a final note, @Bludflag, have I offended you in some way?
No, the inattentive comment was meant for Shebe. He didn't notice you were referring to all worst case scenarios, hence inattentive.

Also, claiming murderizing a town is in no way relevant when you're about to comment in detail about fighting is so blatantly wrong that even other people interjected with their own explanations.

Now excuse me, typing on phone is hard when said phone barely responds. Replies may be lacking.

Oh...now it's explained. Is that her father talking to Durga?
Mother, I believe. Remember when she wakes up, that instruction to be normal is played back to her. Anna thinks it's her own voice saying that. But it's probably Durga playing back her mother (or speaking in her mother's voice)

Regarding her favorite food, I like the notion of the cheese and bacon sandwiches, since, y'know, it's not terribly godawful internet-people-think-this-is-what-Canadians-are-all-about.

Honestly, gang, if you HAD to be stereotypical, you could at LEAST go with poutine.

I refuse to believe people eat that.

Mmm, makes sense. Either way, *pets Durga*

Filthy cheater—seeking outside assistance! Might as well check the official pronunciation via Google as well.

I'm afraid I don't understand. If she can do perfect conversion of matter to energy, why not use the surrounding area and not her source of ultimate dakka?
Because I assume the conversion is impeller-fuckery. So I'm saying that whenever she doesn't need all 20 layers for other things, and the distraction wouldn't be a problem, she might be able to supplement her power plants

I refuse to believe people eat that.
My wife loves it. As does her friend. (both Canadian)

However in the interests of fairness I asked her for some Canadian foods that Anna might like, and these were her recommendations:
All dressed chips (I had to ask what these are.)
Caramilk bars
Poutine

Of those, I figure poutine is probably something that would be homey for Anna, like the possible bacon-and-cheese sandwiches. Because it's, y'know, poutine... kinda like Mom used to make... except she doesn't remember her mom... because feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllls

People are voting for maple syrup covered pancakes because of her reaction to it previously. Heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

Oh great, now I feel like crying. :(

I love how Anna basically just gave Sandra hope for the future of Humanity. More than her superlative skill at large-scale construction, more than the Instructors finally cracking Wave Force, more than Yukari having basically adopted her into the family.

To Sandra, the #1 Ace who just single-handedly redefined impossible, is no longer some faceless killbot with her identity shrouded behind seven levels of "it's classified". It's Anna, who just took a week out to help a quarter of a million strangers just for the sake of helping them. Who fights like the incarnation of wrath itself, and would gladly stand to the bitter end if doing so would save even one person more than not. Who blushes and stammers at a formal kiss on the cheek.

It's one thing to know that somebody's good from the cold hard numbers. It's quite another to stare salvation in the eyes and know that she cares.

I have no words. Well, actually I have a lot. I just grew up my massive commentary phase -or rather, grew too lazy to type them. :p

Alright, here's the distribution map of BAHHSCQ participants who volunteered their general area.

There are fifty three you you on this map, with the highest concentration being heavily in the USA, at twenty nine. If the states are instead considered each their own territory, the the highest concentration is in the Philippines, at five, followed by a tie between The United Kingdom, Washington State, and Australia, all at four. None of you are from Antarctica, sadly.

Hmm, what's this? Location of the voters in this thread? Any other purpose besides curiosity? (not that it need any, this is itself just curiosity). Anyway, if anyone interested to put it in a map, mine is Bandung, Indonesia.

As a note, the description of level 1 WF culled from the character sheet is:

Static Wave:
Level 1: Upon success roll, remove all available Impeller Field, all available Higgs and take minimal frame damage to deal enormous damage at Zero range.

Well it's actually identical.

@Avalanche what's the mechanical diff between Lv 1 and Lv 2?
Not quite identical. Level 1 says at Zero Range and Level 2 says Short Range. From the Weaponry Skill tab of our Character Sheet Zero Range is <100 meters while Short Range is 100m - 15km.

I think it's curiosity; despite me all but spelling out my address, I was landed in, like, Gorski Kotar. No one sane lives there; I can say from experience that it's a shit place. Seriously, a bottle of water costs four times the normal price due to lack of it.

I noticed because I don't live in mountains, I live by the coast of one of the most beautiful seas in the world.

Yes, I keep track of things that would classify me as a paranoid fuck.

I do seem to have misinterpreted what he was referring to - but I stand by my statement that what Anna did in the town is not relevant here. The situation is drastically different. She's seen these types of things before when Yukari was giving them the tour. Remember the fight between the Third year flights? No adverse reaction. And that's before all the progress we've made.

SHIPPING INTENSIFIES. Or rather Harem Intensifies. Or rather, rather! This is not any particular person's harem anymore. Not Kojiro's Harem, not Sandra's Harem, not Anna's harem. We are down the group marriage route!

(I am just terribly amused with this update having intimate moment with both Yukari and Sandra :p )

First off, @Avalanche, the update is absolutely excellent. The wait has been well worth it. Thank you for your hard work.

[vote changed later to fit vote-counter format]

Pancakes with maple syrup makes the most sense as being her favorite food; it's got some sad reverent nostalgia attached to it. Other foods might have tasted good, but that one is the only one that she had an emotional response to. I think that's incredibly significant to her, because it's a connection to her humanity, and it's a connection to her past that she can experience in purety. There's no censorship or fuzziness from Durga's interference. It's a rapture that, undiluted, takes hold of her.

Also, I'd be interested in just having Anna watch the matches of her Flightmates be its own experience, undistracted by providing commentary. It will give her the opportunity to see how they've improved, to see how her actions have helped Setsuna and Koujirou better themselves. The decision to stay with them was something she did for Yukari's and their sakes, and I think it'd be good for her to be able to see that she has helped them to be more self-sufficient. To see that her actions have helped them grow ever closer to the point where they will transcend any need to rely on her. Seeing that might help Anna's mentality, knowing that while she is not an infallible protector, she can do more than that; she can help others not need her protection in the first place.

My general impression of the character is that she really doesn't have an 'off' switch. This is a girl who actually had to be told that running a high-band active scan during an orientation ceremony probably wasn't a good idea. There's also this snip to consider:

"Quick test," you say to Setsuna. You were fairly sure her sensors were ordinary in capability from seeing her yesterday, but to confirm…

Her eyes widen and she nods, her lips thinning and her hands clenching.

"Keep watching me," you say and begin walking a circuit around her, she looks confused for a moment then complies.

She starts turning and you pause, "Don't turn your body or your head, tell me you can no longer perceive me."

"Uh- alright, does using my context map count?" she asks, turning back, her eyes straining to you in sight.

Hmm, she wasn't using her Valkyrie frames general awareness abilities, relying on vision and HUD elements for her spatial awareness.

…Did other frames even have such sensor abilities?

"Nevermind, I will take Keeper position," you declare.

"Hey uh, Anna," Setsuna begins awkwardly as the three of you take off, "Did I pass?"

"I aborted the test," you respond.

Little white lies…

As the above relates, Anna is genuinely baffled that anyone would just use their eyes to keep track of things. Considering the fact that she's a sensor type, as of Post 4 hadn't turned her Impeller Fields off in literally years, and doesn't even know how to turn off her mental assist, it seems unlikely that she'd disable her sensors when watching a combat match. If anything, she'd probably boost them to get a better look at the action.

I highly doubt there is any circumstance where watching some form of combat would be considered relaxing for her, and the idea of 'cheering someone on' is probably a very alien concept as well. If anyone could post some strong evidence to the contrary I will gladly concede the point, but until then it seems to me that Anna is one of those people who has to measure the marigolds (so to speak). And as long as she's analyzing, she might as well share with the rest of the crowd.
