Mmm. Shuri wouldn't be a terribly good choice to pair as a commentator with Anna. For commentary you want someone capable of a lot of insightful analysis, but the really important thing is to have a color commentator there to ask the questions the average viewer would have, let the technical commentator know when to move on to keep the audience engaged, and keep the energy of the commentary up so that it's exciting. Without the technical commentator the commentary is just kinda pointless fluff and without the color commentary no one is going to be watching because they'll be bored stiff.

Well, the question of who to act as commentator... think about it like an anime. It should be a visually or aurally interesting person, but also a narratively important person if at all possible. Anna works, but so would the most visible Instructors or someone with a strong connection to the competition to serve a role in the narrative.

"Wow Yukari. For such a poignant moment, you two sure can add on the unnecessary romantic undertones," Setsuna says frankly from behind you.
She's so genre-savvy, how can she not notice she's a tsundere?
"... until then, I need to find and break some skulls," Sandra smiles tightly, then leaves the call.
Anna: "Okay, Sandra. Bye."
Your range expands until you are encompassing the entire town.
Rejoice! The diety of the Crafting Class has come. All hail.
You extend additional tendrils from Durga's underlayers, concentrating your Impeller with far more strength onto the surrounding hillside and reshape the hills.
Yep, nothing very exciting for the children to see here, Anna. Just remodeling the landscape, doo doo doo~

I understand that you were talking about the possibility of Anna killing someone - but she was under extremely severe mental stress in the moment of her discovery. I don't think that's going to be the case here.
No, you evidently do not understand. The dude claimed that even in a worst case scenario, Anna would not kill a single person.

There's literally a town's worth of evidence that says to the contrary.
That was already in the plans, yeah.
Heh, while reading, I just knew you were going to be happy. The plumbing issues, house building, resources, etc. were finally answered. Yorokobe, zasshu!

The fact that Anna killed people during literally the lowest point in her life isn't relevant, because even the worst case scenario presented isn't even close to the same level as that event.

Commentary seems like a horrible idea considering Anna hates the thought of Valk on Valk combat and is in general awful at explaining shit considering how intuitive everything's become for her.

Why do I get the feeling it'll sound like someone's mom dealing with kids in the back seat?

You know? I think we are approaching the reveal of Anna being No.1 when talking to Sandra the wrong way.

Maybe in some later episode, Sandra will be the one to reveal that information in a flashback scene when Anna takes a suicidal move for anyone else.

Actually, I wonder if the episode featured the Wave-Force No-Colour bang. Like, Koujirou is doing something, then everything suddenly washes out and a big bang is heard. Then he gets told Classified Information. It also adds foreshadowing, for when Anna is inevitably forced to use it, and it is reveals that this is the Super Move she was talking about.

That would be an interesting reveal actually. Show that scene out of context and then do the flashback. "She's ranked number one.." Etc etc

Like I really liked the whole building montages. It shows just how useful Valks can be when they don't have to bughunt all day long.

Also Anna would make the best mom-cology ever. arcologies have Valks at their core after all.

I want to hear Anna's commentary on what's happening, it should be amusing and encourage socialization.

Onium Batteries Repaired: Allows for additional storing of energy. Can serve as projectiles when charged. Serving as projectiles results in destruction of component. Can serve as reactive armour. Serving as reactive armour results in destruction of component.
- Alpha Strike: Allows for an incredibly powerful attack from an energy weapon at the start of a battle against an appropriate target. Currently, only your Heavy Particle Projectors can channel an Alpha Strike without taking component damage.
Energy Dynamos Repaired: Absorb kinetic energy for storage. Can be used to mitigate moderate amounts of damage from projectile weaponry.

Our commentary is going to fail if we accept. We are perfectly capable of dissecting what people should do in a fight, and contrasting it with what they are doing because that's a "simple" calculation. But commentary on a running fight for an audience? We simply aren't the character to do that. It would feel incredibly awkward to us, to say nothing of the human-on-human aspect (which isn't likely to be that big a problem, actually.)

Beyond that I care not about that vote. Maybe skip entirely, the whole thing is... Unpleasant,

Favorite food... Pancakes are frankly stereotypical, though the maple syrup obviously must be included in our diet somehow.

Suggested stunt, possibly for future use:

[] The trouble with Static wave, obviously, is that if it doesn't kill the target, the caster is zero-range, has taken serious frame damage (if you're not in a Durga), and is basically deadman walking. The final stage, currently, is just basic spatial manipulation. We want longer range than that: let's see if we can replace the final stage with a gate-like technique.

Much like the vote for turning off organs, I fear this will backfire as well.

That didn't "backfire."

You have no fucking idea the amount of stuff I see here. Senpai put up 22k words and I too one look at it and found like thirty scenes of material to work. It all fits together, piece by piece, bit by bit. At this point my main worry is that I won't do the work justice as an author ().()

Is it like that every chapter?

Yes. It really is.

... I seem to remember a practice sim where Anna nearly killed a classmate for not watching her lines of fire and hitting friendly forces.

As for those who want Anna to commentate: We can get all that by sitting in the stands with Yukari and Shuri. And it wouldn't be as contrived.

We adapt fast. We'd be fine watching as long as nothing, ah, special happens.

We will have to agree to disagree then.

Because Anna basically loathes the super competitive, Valk-on-Valk atmosphere the UN tries to create. In addition, Commentating requires far more active observation than just watching the fights. As a commentator you need to ensure you have as much awareness of the fight as possible to commentate on. That means Anna going full sensor and best scenarios of 'well had this been actual combat Valk Jane would have just been murdered by Valk Janette because such and such'

This is like telling someone who's violently opposed to the death penalty to make live, on the scene commentary as someone gets the electric chair. It's a fucking terrible idea, liable to provoke a worse action than if they were just doing this.

All it took was a microsecond lapse in focus for Anna to nearly hurl a ball of corrosive space time that would have instagibbed a 300 ace. Hell, even her panicking and doing an active high energy scan is liable to be dangerous to any people with unexpressed valks around her.

This just seems to be the same line of thinking as us thinking the Alaska simulation was remotely a good idea- and Anna absolutely suffered from that.

I think I will vote now.

-[X]Just in case something happens. After all....you don't want to be late again.

"I'm not here to-" your word stick in your throat, -run away, Anna. Do other, normal things. Live a childhood that I never could give you. Live on and be happy, please. You understand me right? You've always protected her. Will you remind her?-

"I- I would rather lose some freedoms than have other people dying on my watch," you say hesitantly. Where… where was that memory from, it's so vivid, but you don't… whispers from the grave.
Oh... my... GOD. It's NOT Anna's voice. It's her MOTHER'S voice. Durga has turned Anna into an adult-ish thing by using her mother to fill in the gaps on what she should be like, probably including the voice, and Anna can't tell the difference becase she's forgotten what her mother sounds like...

And her mother was begging Durga to keep Anna safe...

FUCKING LORD MAN, THE FEELS.

Are you seriously suggesting that using her ocular organs whilst cheering her teammates on is the same as in depth analysis of other people's combat capabilities?
Since when has Anna ever looked with just her eyes?

I don't know if you missed it, but people aren't aiming to land Kojirou with Anna, the Amazonian Waifu. They're trying to land her her own anime, which they intend to get via supreme dakka.
I'm aware, which is why my entire plan is laid out to help get us that spin off. Until we actually are on our own, we need to stay relevant to the MC's plot line. Being a romantic interest is useful to that goal (note how all updates on our current relevance relate to shipping and waifu status) but not critical. We don't have to love him or end up with him, but we do need to stay in his inner circle to be important enough for a spin off.

Au contraire; she has already done so.
How inattentive can you be?
I'm afraid you missed the rest of my point. Yes Anna has killed humans before, and true she could probably annihilate half the Academy if it came to a fight. If properly provoked she might even try to do so. But could she break into a sealed simulator environment and kill Valkyrie opponents who are actively resisting before someone either stops her or she comes to her senses? That seems unlikely to me. Perhaps it does not to you. I shall let the group decide.

As a final note, @Bludflag, have I offended you in some way?

Alright, here's the distribution map of BAHHSCQ participants who volunteered their general area.

There are fifty three you you on this map, with the highest concentration being heavily in the USA, at twenty nine. If the states are instead considered each their own territory, the the highest concentration is in the Philippines, at five, followed by a tie between The United Kingdom, Washington State, and Australia, all at four. None of you are from Antarctica, sadly.

@ApocalypticFish can you do me a favor and offload this bit and everything I quoted in my giant post earlier to the quest doc. Er, not armorfiend's post, but the content he quoted.

Jesus christ I went into this update with pretty much just a prologue and now we've got content for everything. It's going to take me a while to consolidate everything, I'll need to reread the post and then a few sessions on the treadmill... But senpai just took all the worries I had about main quest content and axemurdered them. With a scorpion.

No, I don't know how he did that. Blame the AGs.
