It's not just a matter of an identity and well formed soul. It's also a matter of desiring to return to life. Rhaenys lived a short life and died in a thoroughly unpleasant manner. She's now been dead for longer than she was alive. Expecting her to give up a comfortable afterlife to return to the Material Plane is naive.

If her mother's back, is it really a guarantee she'd say no? Elia will push for it regardless, she might give up Aegon as a lost cause, but Rhaenys? I doubt that.

Can't we give our mother a nice retirement plan in Elysium or somewhere like that? Away from LE lawyers which also have 12 or so cleric levels and thus have the potential to become a villain?

Who knows, maybe she'll hit it off with Malarys?

"Malarys, you may be the best Combat Litigator in the world, but hurt my mother and Asmodeus himself will shudder at the fate I inflict upon you."

Because it would be hilarious if Viserys had to give his mom's new boyfriend the Talk.

I think the larger problem here is that he's vassal sworn to Viserys. Relationships like that probably have a whole bunch of legal complications.

Malarys strikes me as the type to carefully steer around potential trouble, and he would know marrying his new liege's mother would be big trouble.

The fact that there would be legal complications aside (Malarys is a lawyer, so that would enter into his "marriage material" calculus), his status as a sworn lord freeholder to us would make him wary of doing... well, anything to make us look upon him like he just overstepped any boundaries.

Just realized something, with the abundance of magical healing Robert will have access to how will Cersei kill him?

Shouldn't be too hard. Robert has an "accident". The Grand Maester insists only his care of him will be sufficient for taking care of the King, no petty conjurer or charlatan can be trusted with his life.

Robert dies. But Pycelle did all he could! Why, he'd like to see one of those fools do better... oh wait, the King is dead, long live the King!

If Malarys is smart, he'll avoid the hell out of anything romantic with Rhaella. As is, I think he's more or less accepted the idea of Valaena as a potential wife.

And after Aerys I'm sure Rhaella wouldn't want anyone Evil anyway.

To be fair, even if Malarys is Evil, he's Pragmatic Lawful Evil (likely bordering on Selfish Lawful Neutral), as opposed to Aerys' Batshit Insane Chaotic Stupid Evil.

Pretty much. I'm not actually worried anything's going to come of this. Everything we've seen of Malarys indicates he's way too smart to put himself into a situation like that.

We do that on a regular basis. Just a couple weeks ago, we reduced an army of nearly 1000 sellswords to ashes for being stupid enough to be duped by Tiamat, and then going on to try to enslave our sentient monkey pals.

I meant outside of combat. But even still, I don't want our mom to ever see us doing it, it would probably bring up traumatic memories.
