@DragonParadox Results of Blight's Bane's repeated action this turn? Or are you going to cover that in an interlude, since it involves all those Triton tribes and it's a big character moment for him?

The Well of Eternity
The Well of Eternity
Major Artifact

Description
:
A spiral of thin threads of silver, gold and adamantine, an emerald string spun by Yss, the blood-red of leaves of a Heart Tree coiling in-between - and a spark of R'hlor's power crowning it like a gemstone set by a master jeweler.
This artifact hums with incredible power - so much so, that even a Fey-crafted box, once used to hold an Unravelling, is incapable of fully stopping it's power from seeping through.

Once, but a desperate hope of a Gold dragon to fight against the Void; with his own scale, and a hair of the one he treasured most, spun together with adamantine like their passing will - but now so, so much more.

The coil was reforged in power of the entity antithetical to Divine, an Oblivion born of the Void itself - and strengthened with the poison of Yss, becoming the barbs that won't let go - an honest deal to rip at the very nature of Tiamat and her Greed.
The weight of the sea itself was placed behind it with the dying breath of the stillborn Elder Brain - the Ferryman elating at a grave threat to his people being gone.
With the artifacts of fel powers being broken, Zathir ascended - and like those once binding the Minotaurs, all the chains Tiamat binds others with shall break too, the joy of Creation standing up against her Destruction.
The Goddess of the Silver Moon and her faithful have suffered at hands of Tiamat - and so in the light of a full moon, Peaceful tidings flowed to the talisman, unbowed before the Chaos.
With a heavy heart the Weeping Lady shared her power - for as much as she despises conflict, Protecting others in face of blind Hatred is what she is.
The Old Gods took a heavy price in blood of monsters - but so have they pledged to be the bulwark against her in this battle, bringing their Magic against hers - the very Bones of the Earth holding down the heads of Queen of Chromatics.
R'hlor the Red awakened in the age when mortals suffered under the yoke of Tiamat and her children - and though the spark has changed over the centuries, he still remained the one best poised to strike at what Tiamat is after all else is stripped down - her Pride and Hubris taken away by his Tyrranical, yet just hand - a Dragon, against the one to whom the countless slaves called out for salvation throughout the long years.

Effect:
If placed upon a champion or an avatar of Tiamat, the Well of Eternity will act as a grand siphon of her Divine power - dealing a blow critical even to a Greater Deity.
If no target is available, but Tiamat's power is otherwise present nearby - the deities empowering the Well of Souls can initiate the encounter anyway, but under a heavier strain, possibly leading to less power being drawn from her and/or more damage being sustained by the deities.

Empowered by:
The Old Gods (1858 HD of beings sacrificed (here), effective sacrifice - 1080 HD, the rest goes to ensure the safety of Old Gods due to heavy participation).
Yss (a CR 20 Oblivion sacrificed (here) - an "anti-deity" synergy applies due to Oblivion's nature).
Zathir (520 CL of items sacrificed (here).

R'hlor the Red (Shadow-weaving crit from Melisande on making his power coexist with that of other Deities (here).
The Goddess of the Silver Moon (here).
The Weeping Lady (here).

In an encounter with Tiamat, the Well of Eternity will counter her Domains as follows:
[] Magic - the Old Gods (contested Domain).
[] Dragon - R'hlor (as per the circumstances of his birth).
[] Chaos - R'hlor (Law), Weeping Lady (Community), The Goddess of the Silver Moon (Peace).
[] Evil - the Old Gods (Strenght), The Goddess of the Silver Moon (Freedom), the Old Gods, The Weeping Lady (Protection), Zathir (Liberation).
[] Greed - Yss (Trade).
[] Destruction - The Goddess of the Silver Moon (Peace), R'hlor, the Old Gods, The Weeping Lady (Protection), Zathir (Creation).
[] Hatred - The Merling King (Passion), Old Gods, The Weeping Lady (Protection), Zathir (Liberation).
[] Pride - R'hlor (Tyranny), the Old Gods (Time - a weak counter), Yss, The Merling King, The Weeping Lady (Death - a weak counter).
[] Hubris - R'hlor (Tyranny), the Old Gods (Time - a weak counter), Yss, The Merling King, The Weeping Lady (Death - a weak counter).

...Had to pull some major search-fu for finding all the deity-interactions for the above. :V
I still don't completely get the interactions it is supposed to have with Tiamat, but we'll be at the dice's mercy there anyway.

Also, it was called "the Well of Souls" when we recovered it from Varys, but then DP renamed it to "Well of Eternity" before we even applied the first upgrade.
I've been confused about why I was so sure it is "Well of Souls" for too damn long :V

The "Well of Eternity" sounds way better, tho.

Interlude DCLXXXV: Of Dragons, Sails and Wondrous Tales
Of Dragons, Sails and Wondrous Tales

Twenty Ninth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

Great Cabin of the Hunter's Moon, Jade Sea, Approaching Yin

Valaena Velaryon glanced around the cabin in anticipation and perhaps a hint of nervousness. Every seat around the ebony staff table table was taken with some of the participants sitting uncomfortably close to one another. Not every meeting of what was half-in-jest called the Fleet Advisory Council was this crowded, but as they neared their destination everyone felt they had to be here.

There was Diana, of course, speaking for the Queen Rhaella, by most measures the strongest ship in the fleet, and Asha not only as the captain of the ship they were all on but as the rightful ruler of a realm, that it was on the other side of the world, poor and exporting little more than iron blades and the raiders to bear them was of less import. To her left sat Rykano of Tyrosh, the head of the Inquisition complement, and beyond him Leto speaking with the hard-bought wisdom of her kindred, though most aboard the ship thought of her as warrior of the strange sisterhood of warriors the King had found in some forgotten corner of the world.

Harren Half-Hoare had no small amount of courage to be sitting next to her, though given how courteous he had been around her mayhap he had the wits to go with the daring too. Past him sat the traders and envoys, the people tasked with wisely spending the coin of various investors who had poured gold and goods into the fleet, Braavosi captains and Dornish besides.

Technically Valaena was among the latter category as well, empowered to spend the wealth her father had invested, but it was a small fraction compared to what the likes of Lord and Lady Drekelis had spent and on top of that Valaena's identity, unlike Asha's, was still veiled. No doubt the Lannisters had proof of who it was rode that Dawnfire by now, but it was bought by sorcery and not public knowledge. If upon the expedition's return crowned with accolades it was known that a daughter of House Velaryon had taken part, atop a dragon hatched in King Viserys' service, even the sluggard so-called-king on the Iron Throne would have to act lest he lose the confidence of the few lords who still looked to him.

"So," she cleared her throat, looking towards the looming figure of the Herald silent as a statue. The construct more than any of them here was the voice of the King, but it did not speak up in matters that were not immediately relevant to its skills outside of urgent need. "How much strangeness do you think the port authorities can take?"

A whirring sound from the back of the room served as a throat clearing for the mechanical scholar as Min Kai answered her. "In Yin that which comes from the sea is thought lucky, carrying the bounty of the waters, the waterfolk will be well received I think, and the kami of the sea also. I am less sure of others, to claim to hail from the heavens is a bold claim for such small spirits as the golden ones. The gates are barred against all but the greatest of souls, this the men of the Golden Empire knew in my day and this they remember even... under the age of Azure."

It took a fine ear for tone and being accustomed to hearing unusual voices, but Valaena suspected the pause was more than a hitch in the workings of whatever arcane gears round out the ancient scholar's words.

"The solution would seem to be obvious, tell the archons not to proclaim themselves to all and sundry," Leto replied, then with a smile as sharp as the sword upon her belt and just as bitter she added. "Or we can put out they sneaked out through Heaven's keyhole."

"Speak to the Emperor and his advisers first on the matter, don't go out of our way to talk about Mantarys in the meantime. Is everyone agreed?" Diana interjected deftly. She often found herself forging consensus, her position with regards to Wisdom Lya and thus the King giving her influence far beyond her official rank.

"I think we should be proactive in accounting for every mage on the ship with local authorities," the inquisitor said. "I realize as the law is written it only applies to humans, but being seen as scrupulously fair to the Emerald Magistrates could earn us favor more precious than mere gold."

"We are not planning anything underhanded," Valaena agreed. That was for others to do, she added silently to herself. It had not escaped her eye that many of the preliminary reports on Yin and the Azure Court that filtered in over the past month were in the Grand Inquisitor's own hand. While she was not as in awe of Lord Drekelis as most, seeing a thousand hidden motives to his every step, she knew the King would not have dispatched him to Yi Ti unless there was work to do in the shadows.

Now, however, it was time for them to shine in the light.

OOC: I had to cut this off here otherwise we would have had a two thousand word interlude and no third part today.

@DragonParadox, regarding the Heart Tree mistake, can we just stick it on one of the other castles in the Night's Watch given that we're funding them enough that everything is being refurbished and manned again?

Garin's legend grows... It's only a matter of time until he gets that Mythic Tier for being regarded as one of the best spymasters in the world since Bloodraven.

The fleet is almost to Yi-Ti! It's only been a few months IC, but IRL we've been planning this and following along since last January, and the fleet was launched in March, IIRC.

I'm super hyped for another Yi-Ti interlude arc, DP. This is going to be great.

Something for Lya. Trade any prepared transmutation spell for any other you know of equal or lower level, also once a day, cast disintegrate in place of a 6th or higher transmutation spell. Transmutation is the largest school of magic, so there's plenty of targets.
Oh, that's a nice set of glasses. Lya can't benefit from them, unfortunately, since she isn't a Transmuter, but Anu is. These will be a nice upgrade for him.

Adding them to my notes for him.

EDIT: That's actually good for any specialist Wizard. We can make a Necromancy version of them for Wyla.

Didn't see the transmuter requirement.

Sidenote, can you explain how you built the Mind Dragons? I keep trying to reverse engineer them to try and make other dragons, but Gigantean costs so much on dragons. I don't know how you reached the point you did.

Start with the 2 HD Pseudodragon (CR 1), which is multiplied by 6 using the Gigantean template, raising it to 12 HD. That's an increase of 10 HD, which for a Dragon increased CR from 1 to 6. Advanced adds +1 CR, Telepathic Creature adds another +1, and Sorcerer Creature with 8 to 13 HD adds +2, and Mighty adds +5, for a total of CR 15.

That's everything that went into the Mighty Mind Dragons, though there were various tweaks made to the final product to make them more than an upsized Pseudodragon, such as a different poison. Their Strength and Constitution attributes were actually reduced in order to bring them more in line with other similarly sized True Dragons, as the templates had all added up to make them a bit too beefy.

Ah, something I asked, didn't get an answer to, and forgot to re-ask, @DragonParadox:

Should we be worried about the "fire storm that will blow the Dragons out of the sky", that Orange Emperor is apparently preparing?

In regards to "the Worm" being interfered with while being:
1) Awakened
2) Transported (teleport?)
3) Controlled (I.e. guided to a given target)

I accidentally included the starting HD in the cost increase. Dragons pay so fucking much for more HD, though. Anything above 3 base HD is basically impossible.

Also, i'd like to point out something: several species of Drakes can do double move actions 3/day, making them ideal Quickling blitz assassins.

Drakes – d20PFSRD

Of particular note, Forest Drakes are CR 4, and can use their breath weapon underwater. Why forest drakes get that and not sea drakes, I can't tell you.

Part MMMCCLXVII: Feasting Shadows
Feasting Shadows

Twenty Ninth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

"Of course I do. One would have to be quite blind to miss their proclivities," you answer without hesitation, knowing the key to not offending is assuring the fey that this is nothing more than a moment's misunderstanding. "There are more kinds of light in this world then that which shines brightly. Would you turn away those who need succor and who are willing to give such in kind merely for their seeming or the tools they use?"

"Humph," Dian snorts, sending sparks flying from his beard flame. "And you could find no better place for his 'light' than my halls? The smell alone is enough to make half the sprites hide and the other half arm themselves to defend the Court."

You cannot help but wonder what sprites would even arm themselves with, the image of needle swords and button shields flashing through your mind. Still, you will not soon underestimate the wee folk as a whole. You have seen too many of their kindred rise to greatness as friend and foe alike. Instead, you note: "It would be most dishonest of me to hide the company I keep when I come to speak of friendship and alliance."

"Fair words, though I wonder what else you brought along if the corpse raiser is just one of the lot," he states as deep green eyes look over your company one by one, pausing in confusion upon Elaheh. That confusion, however, does not turn to disgust as with many mortal mages and other sharp-eyed folk who start to gleam something of her proclivities. "Night's kin, but not to darkness bound be welcome in my halls. May you find some of the answers you seek or if not more questions worth asking, and you in the shadows..." he motions to the Orphne Lord. "Come 'ere and share a proper drink with me!"

"While those of my lord's company have not yet been invited, I cannot join you," the lord of the dark fey answers in a whisper that somehow carries over the din of the Court.

Before Dian can reply you interject. "Oaths Wisdom Qyburn has sworn and his workings have proven great aid against that which hungers beyond hunger. His arts are not tainted by the madness that has gripped those who abuse them."

"So be it then," the fey lord's shoulders move in a shrug that sends ripples down his beard, a dozen flowers blooming in the motion. "Come yet forth in peace-holy, eat, drink and make merry, and let no harm come to you and no enemy find you in my halls." He gives Qyburn a dubious look. "You had best eat and not disrespect my feast, hear me?"

The former maester nods, wisely not trying his hand at fey diplomacy.

Assured that you would not suffer from it you eat and drink to satisfy, your host provides strange fruits you could not guess the name of, cheese from great wheels that never run out for every time they are sent spinning they grow from the inside out like the rings of a tree and wine in every color and for every taste accounting. The other fey take heart in their lord's command and approach you to trade bright jests and quick tales.

"So then, what's this about trade and and alliance?" the lord of the court asks once you had given a fair accounting of yourselves in eating and drinking both. "My wines can heal hunger and sickness both, but so can your tree, with pale branches and crimson blood, so what then would you wish of us and what trade in return?" he smacks his lips and takes another hearty swing of dawn mead. "I'll drearily admit this makes a good beginning."

What do you reply?

[] Ask only that he help keep this area of the Feywild clear of more dangerous beings to protect the Forge from any such beings who might pass the veil between worlds here

[] Ask for some of his wines, the rarer and more potent the better

[] See how he grows more of his Court, that is the sort of question you brought the flesh-smiths along to ask, or at least hear the answer to

[] Write in

OOC: You guys also need to decide what you are paying in, but I included the options above so you have a direction since I know pure write ins can be lacking in focus.

Of particular note, Forest Drakes are CR 4, and can use their breath weapon underwater. Why forest drakes get that and not sea drakes, I can't tell you.
Yeah, HD increases for Dragon increase CR really quick, but they get all the good stuff in return, d12 HD, good BAB, good saves, and lots of skill points.

Unfortunately, it doesn't give a lot of wiggle room when you start trying to include the Gigantean template, at least not when you're operating with a CR limit.

[] Ask for some of his wines, the rarer and more potent the better

[] See how he grows more of his court, that is the sort of question you brought the flesh-smiths along to ask, or at least hear the answer to

1. What goods does his court produce beyond the "rare and potent wines"?
2. Do we have a vague idea of the kinds of things he'd be interested in for trading?

There's a Template to gain Wyrm-scale size without piling on a ton of HD, allowing to mix and match other templates. More wiggle room up to CR 15 at any rate.
