Are tattoos a thing in ASOIAF? Beyond Lya's Advanced Tattoo Guardian Construct, I mean.

Just sitting here watching Ink Master on TV and I'm wondering if our Legion soldiers are sporting dragon tattoos. I can see that becoming a common practice.

..... That might actually make for a good omake.

An omake about the tattoo and body art developing around the empire and maybe touch a bit on some parts that arent part of the empire like yi ti and Westeros

That could be really neat.

I wonder how difficult it would be to make simple animated tattoos? Like a dragon breathing fire or flapping its wings, or an Erinyes firing her bow.

I'll have to dig through the spells to see if there is anything that allows that.

EDIT: Not quite what I was looking for, but still kinda neat.

Pestidigitation might make for some cool color changing tattoos.

Say the command phrase and the tattoo changes color!

Maybe we should add some positive stuff to balance out the monster manual? "Good" spirits that just happen to be prominently associated with the empire, like phoenixes. Another good section would be something like "common Magics, fair and foul"; things to help identify common kinds of enthrallment and/or curses, along with a section advertising specific bits of low magic/rituals peasants would want.

Not enough detail to use to cast anything, but enough to make people feel like they know more about what is dangerous and actually give them a non-zero chance of noticing stuff like marks of justice.

If we lace it with calls to check with (scholarium trained) professionals and metaphors grounded in other crafts we could help solidify the idea that it's just another craft in their minds.

It'd be especially great if the directions were good enough to get people to notice what Tywin has been up to without directly accusing him; it'd stick so much better if it didn't look like direct mud

This is a really good idea. I don't think we can do it justice this time, though. There is only so much room for writing on each broadsheet and we've already got this one really full.

We should use your proposal on the next issue.

The knight does not speak his next question, but it is writ clear upon his face. What then is my nature? To that you have no answer, but you are certain he will keep looking until he finds it.
It's not the point for him, but if this works... Well.

This is a story. A kick ass one. Drama! love! heartbreak! family! friendship! heroes! villains! duty! tragedy! justice! and maybe some romance! will get heaped on in the feywild.

Raising up what will very likely soon be a very powerful fey like this is... It's not only the duty, but the privilege of the rulers of fey courts.

And of course our part in his story will resonate and rebound... As will the Orphenes. I can just see them playing up the "mysterious and wise mystics who aid the hero on his journey" already.
We need a Viserys/Planetos version of this for the top of the broadsheet.

So cool!!!

The torch bearer's probably wear a pair of crossed torches over a shield. Symbolizing their job to light the way and defend those who cannot defend themselves.

Also i kind of want to hear about some drunkard try and pick a fight with a legionnaire and getting fed his teeth with one hand while legionnaire just keeps drinking his ale and doesnt even look the drunks way. Just "I said, don fackin' ignur m-" *Crunch!* bar goes silent and legionnaire takes a long drink and everyone just goes back to their business writing off the drunk as an idiot.

We could combine Hardened parchment, Truespeech Script and Runecrafting to make slotless buff items.

They would contain inspirational phrases such as "OTHERS-B-GONE", "MY OTHER WEAPON IS A SACRIFICE SPEAR", "TURTLE POWER", "SHOP SMART, SHOP DRAGON-MART" or "I HAVE PREPARED EXPLOSIVE RUNE".

but for real, @Crake, @Goldfish, @TalonofAnathrax, Azel had a good point with this:
Indeed. Beside spreading the narrative we want, I want to include a few... fables? Basically our alternative to the comic section. They would tell about Fey, the kind we deem acceptable, about how to spot Devil cultists, about the spheres and so on and so forth.

Let's see how their knights and castles fare against state controlled mass media.
Very important point to focus on, imo.
We can have interactions of Orphne court with Braavos as "based on a true story" for some, too.

Because fuck em' CoS.

Also, @Crake, don't forget to include having all sheets Hardened (in case I wasn't blind having just woken up, which may or may not be the case).

As per old comments, this will be hilarious, and fascinating in all the wrong ways - from people making compact build-in-an-hour houses with them, and knights stuffing their armor for added protection, to hilarity of people having trouble to destroy Hardness 12 paper :V

It would also make getting rid of it very difficult thus the propaganda would stick around longer.

It would be easier to bury them at sea or in the ground than to destroy them.

I just wonder if it won't come back to bite us in the ass to distribute so much hardened paper to potential enemies.

At the very least, it will devalue the price of hardened paper for a while.

To bad they are so useful and thus unlikely for that to happen.

I cant wait till some peasant has the smart idea to make armor out of it.

It would be incredibly light after all and it is fairly tough so it is certianly viable.

Eh, at worst they try and make armor out of it or use it to plate it.

To bad that paper is still paper even if hardened so it still burns very very easily.

100,000 years in the future, archaeologists uncover thousands of our broadsheets, perfectly preserved and legible by anyone who looks at them despite being written in an unknown language...

Six months later, they are featured in an episode of Ancient Aliens.

Well, they're all going to be Arcane Marked, so locating them should be simplicity itself with a ritual and foci.

Also, we are producing so many hardened goods that devaluation of material things seems like a natural course--except that right now we're not feeling the effects as we've millions of slaves who have coin burning a hole in their pockets and a need for basic manufactured goods that can survive wear and tear.

When we've serviced all of those needs, the hardened process can still be turned toward other ends, and we direct enough coin into the economy that the manufacturing sector can easily just re-tool with government subsidies and produce other materials. A multi-front war means business is booming.

Just had another thought on making this sting more. What if we included an open letter to Robert detailing why we are fighting the war, what we think of him, and detailing rules of engagement for the conflict.

We can talk shit to him to in a more detailed way while keeping people interested through the power of gossip. Then we can claim any attempts at censoring the broadsheet implicitly admit that he can't argue our points and/or doesn't care about the damage the war could cause as long as he can kill some Targs.

I hope they use it for something; there are plenty of spells that ignore hardness. Imagine spamming create water, then pulling out Water to acid and erasing most of the AC of anyone trying to "use our power against us".

Oh that is evil.... I love it.

We're already serializing our "exaggerated" adventures. :V
I was more hoping for social criticism. As an example, remember that village that nearly got wiped out because their Lord blamed them for a beesting? How about writing something from one of their perspectives about how unjust their Lord was, their desperate attempts to appease their wrath, the rescue at Viserys' hands, the debate about whether or not to abandon all that they have known, and at last the ending in the Deep, where they finally find prosperity and a just Lord.

Our adventures are cool and all, but we can do so much more than that, and the Lords of Westeros are such a sorry lot that we won't even have to lie that much.

That sounds nice in essence but I wouldn't want to put a target on their backs. I wouldn't use names or anything that could link them to their current whereabouts or doings, which "being a beekeeper, a niche profession, on Sorcerer's Deep" would probably be.

Not a bad idea though. And yes, I know, you'd be given out Darwin Award's to anyone stupid enough to target retribution on an Imperial Citizen in the heart of our power, much less find anyone willing to do it, but I guess I just mean more in principle than anything else.

@Crake, this fine?
Can't quite have long discussions today, first day at Uni this year >_<

We could always ask permission from such individuals beforehand.

Seems like a simple solution. If they want their names concealed then we conceal them, if they are allright with their names being revealed then we use them.

Simple solution right there.
