[X] Right now your priorities are already set in order. We will try to convince Ser Erren to remain in Sorcerer's Deep, at least for the short term, hinting that we have ideas about deepening ties. We won't do anything untoward or strange, just give the impression of someone who doesn't leap head first into possible alliances (even if, we do, in fact, do that nearly all the time).
-[X] We file an extensive report to the Inquisition of the possible dangers of Erren being constantly watched, and the possible culprits, from fiendish to fey in nature. We will make sure to feed a steady web of plausible information to Erren, and evaluate what other kinds of particular information to feed him over the course of the next month.
-[X] When we are either in the process of moving on the Devil Cabal in the Reach, or have finished, depending on what we discover and what seems most prudent, we will personally investigate his complicity or involvement with the powers-at-bay.

@Crake, I think you are over-complicating things here. We should have a short stroll through his brain-pan to figure out what he knows and then work from there.

It bears remembering that his handlers are likely looking in on this meeting right now and seeing Erren just fine, while Viserys is invisible through Mindblank. It's the same as when we Scryed the Imp talking with Varys.

This seems unnecessarily convoluted.

@DragonParadox, do Anya and Mia have enough free time from their duties in Kings Landing to attend the competitions?

I was thinking about sending a Inquisition team to the team-battles.
@Goldfish, we could send Mia as a solo-combatant to the mage duels.

Edit: Inquisition members would compete in full robes with the Inquisition symbol, gloves, masks and cowls, to their identity would be protected.

What do we gain by it? The Devils have been compartmentalizing rapidly and he's a puny mortal, he won't know anything like names, and locations will be a step removed at best. If it's fey, then it's just one more steady complication to something already guaranteed to be complicated.

Hence counter-complications.

[X] Abstain

Given it was Azel who wanted to misinform people next turn, and he doesn't want to do that with Erren, I don't see the point in arguing.

I still don't see how the Devils/Fey wouldn't discover we were watching, if they can see his half of the reactions to what we're doing?

@Azel - the objective of the meeting is to discover if Ser Erren's complicit in his family's diabolic pacts and to see if he'd be willing to the next lord of Brightwater Keep, correct? I'm completely certain the clasp is from the devils, so I don't see any reason to play games to try and establish that. Let's just dispell the thing and ask pointed questions to the knight as to how he got his hands on a magical piece of such potence.

Tells the listener we can look through this type of disguise.

They did, though I'm not sure if Anya would go for the mage duels. She strikes be as a bit hesitant to put herself out in public.

Or did I misread her?
No I was thinking about having her the Mage of the Inquisition team, not competing solo. And she isn't shy per se, just painfully aware that she is a up-jumped peasant / up-jumped gutter orphan. Beating people to a pulp for the amusement of the masses is peachy, but interacting with royalty has her a bit queasy since she has no idea how to act courtly or something.

On that note, is Argo taken by some team?

The thing is the others aren't wrong. Whatever we do here will send the Devils into panic mode.

On the other hand, the mere fact that Erren is alone in the same room with what is presumably Viserys Targaryen should send them into panic mode.

I think we will have to take care of the Florrents and Garth the Gross ahead of schedule. Namely, right now.

That basically erases all of my concerns then.

@Goldfish, have at it.

I'm not incredibly knowledgable about magical shit, so can you clarify what exactly this thing was supposed to do? That'd probably help me understand the situation better.
DP called it a focus for divinations and that implies very strongly that it's a Scrying focus. So people are listening in right now. It's purpose is probably to allow scrying through wards, much like we used the Greater Curse to pierce Varys Mindblank.

I give it also decent odds that it's a focus for combat spells, in case they need to kill Erren from afar.

Alright. So now the question is whether he's aware of it and an intentional agent, or it was just a ploy to possibly have him go somewhere important and let them get a look at our stuff. Perhaps they predicted we'd do exactly this, but didn't think we'd be able to see through the spell? Get an idea of our plans or lure us into a trap?

[X] Plan Moving Faster
-[X] Tell Varys to look for Dany and Lya. They need to assemble a strike-tream for Brightwater Keep while you and Richard will make a short trip to Highgarden.
-[X] Explain Varys disappearance as the little dragon having his own moods and leave it at that.
-[X] Talk with Erren while scanning his surface thoughts. Have small-talk about the Reach politics and his family. Perfectly innocuous topics under these circumstances, but we should be able to figure out his position in the family and in regards to devils from the thoughts.
-[X] If he is not complicit: Dispel the item and explain things to him, including that you had information that his family was likely involved with this and planned to take care of them soon, but his presence is moving up the schedule.
-[X] If he is complicit: Wrap up the talk and send him on his merry way. Tell Garin and Malarys to engineer a cause to take him into custody under other charges, then dispose of him.

That thing being disguised and requiring a DC50 spell check to get noticed implies that Erren was to be used for a high level target.

If he's complicit, he's a cultist. Means, tree fodder.
