Anyone else see Samwell as a Specialist Wizard, specifically an Abjurer?

Maybe even take it one step further and have him practice the Thassilonian version of Specialization which came to be known as Sin Magic. He could give up Evocation and Necromancy spells, but gain two bonus Abjuration spell slots per spell level.

Elemental darts is a conjuration spell ;).

Looking back to read in detail now that I am not scrambling for name ideas I have to say that's a very nice humanizing omake for Ceria @Crake. It's very easy to just write schemrs as cold but you balanced her perfectly IMO.

Here is what I have, most of the list is unchanged with only the Valyrian stuff tweaked. If anyone has suggestions feel free to share.

Highest Division Level
Westeros: Lord Paramount - Lands (Stormlands, Riverlands, Westerlands... general enough to work)
Valyrian: Hegemon - Hegemony (I am actually leaving this as Hegemon in english to demote a word that was borrowed wholesale by Westerosi common, the English of the seting)
General: King - Kingdom
Imperial: Governor-General - High-Governorship

Ducal Level - this person rules over multiple Count-Level titles and thus multiple provinces on the map
Westeros: Duke - Duchy (Example: Hightowers, who have multiple powerful vassals who hold noteworthy amounts of lands themselves)
Valyrian: Archon - Archontia (I left this one since it is actually used a lot in the quest and it would not make sense to change it)
Imperial: Governor - Governorship

Count Level - this person rules one province on the map
Westeros: Count - County (Example: Manderly, who has some minor vassals)
Valyrian: Thaemos - Theame (Valyrianized titles for a Greek Theme which was used by our friends the Byzantines)
Imperial: Magistrate - Province (basically a judge for the whole area, as his job is more settling local disputes then actual ruling)

Lowest Level
Westeros: Baron - Barony / Landed Knight - Barony (Example: the Cleganes)
Valyrian: Vaeroseía - Vaeros (I literally stole the transliteration of barony and then altered it so that it had more of the common 's' sounds over 'r's.It looks Valyrian enough to me)
Imperial: Commissar - Commissariat (helper of the Magistrate and basically a low-level government clerk at this point)

General Titles:
Ser - Knight in Westeros
Lord - any member of landed nobility in Westeros
Magister - any member counted towards the economic aristocracy in Essos
Wisdom - catch-all term for mages in Essos
Could you please threadmark this?

Have to say real impressed with Sam's learning ability, if he can make level 2 wizard on his own with actual help I'm sure he will become a great wizard in the future.

He likely has some trait that like natural genius or something since in canon noted he is very smart which is important for a wizard.

What other magic classes that make use of lots of intelligence?

Some comments:
  1. Ser Bonifer Hasty (Hedge knight)
  2. Ser Benjicot Brown (Hedge knight)
  3. Ser Criston Storm (Hedge knight)
  4. Ser Dermot of the Rainwood (Hedge knight)
  5. Ser Horas Redwyne (Mystery knight)
  6. Ser Hyle Buckwell (Mystery knight)
  7. Ser Gerold Dayne, known as Darkstar, the Knight of High Hermitage (Mystery knight)
  8. Ivezhqoy 'The Dothraki'
  9. Ser Jon Redford (Mystery knight)
  10. Jaedor Taraellis (Volantine Old Blood/Tiger/Distant cousin of Hermetia)
  11. Ser Karl Terrick
  12. Ser Raymun Darry (Mystery knight)
  13. Tytos Brune (Not a Mystery Knight)
  14. Vaevar called 'the Valiant' (Sellsword, formerly in the service of Lys, met Valaena on the battlefield and surrendered to her)
  15. Ser Walder Frey called the Black (Mystery knight)
  16. Ser Wendel Manderly (Mystery knight)
1. Betting 100 IM here that if Bonnifer wins, he will be crowning Rhealla the Queen of Love and Beauty without even knowing. Another 50 IM on Rhealla giving him her favor for some reason.
2. I'm thinking Benjicot will have a lot of fun during this. He now got our full support and more support in the Riverlands, so he can just joust a bit for the fun of it.
3. Christon will probably take a month long hot bath after getting beaten up non stop for the whole duration of the festival.
4. Huh. He followed Stannis in canon and is noted as famed, so probably another Stormlander knight and a noteworthy one at that.
5. I'm not giving him much chance to be honest. Too many very skilled enemies.
6. Minor Crownlander. My guess is that he arrived with Tytos Brune. If not, the two of them should meet a bit and talk a bit about the weather, the festival and a nice spot of high treason against the Ursuper.
7. Wow. That is going to be memorable, one way or another.
8. Go get 'em girl.
9. I'm still wondering if he came on his own or if he had some chats with the Royces.
10. Of all the things I would have expected to see, Zherys sending someone to the joust of all things, and apparently even someone competent, was not among them.
11. Hrm... minor riverlander... One of Benjicots?
12. Roughly as unexpected as the tide.
13. And here we see Tytos Brune, continuing the proud family tradition of eschewing the giving of fucks.
14. Shame Valaena isn't riding here. :V
15. If his performance in the melee was any indication, he should go decently far here.
16. That one is a pleasant surprise. Maybe we should visit Wyman one of these days.

3. Christon will probably take a month long hot bath after getting beaten up non stop for the whole duration of the festival.
So far Criston has been:

1) Stabbed.
2) Bashed to breaking.
3) Stomped on.
4) Half trampled.
5) Bound in chains.
6) Burnt.
7) Electrocuted.

All in one Tournament.

For fun.

And neither does he see anything unusual about any of this, he's a contender for third place in one bracket and made it to the quarter finals in a Joust which can only be made more ridiculous by the presence of Jaime Lannister or Barristan Selmy.

And he's lined up for more!

Proposed Valaena level up. Nothing spectacular to choose form this level, though she does get a bonus attribute point and a new 3rd level spell. I'm in favor of selecting Dexterity over Charisma, though she relies on both. Valaena is never going to have high spell DCs, so the benefits of increasing her Charisma are largely incidental, but Dexterity is tied to her ability to hit with her chain.

She's actually in a pretty good place for spells right now, considering how limited her selection is. I'm torn between Slow and Displacement. Slow is a crippling debuff that can affect multiple opponents, but it's Short-ranged and allows a Will save. Displacement makes Valaena even more difficult to hit. Combine it with her other defensive spells and she's pretty damned hard to hit.

Thoughts?

There is still one round before the quarter-finals, but yeah. He will fit right in with our merry brand of masochists.

I wonder how many people in the tournament are wistfully remembering the time where the worst that could happen to them was getting stabbed with a sword or bashed with a hammer.

Also, slightly surprised that Sandor didn't join in with the joust. While he is obviously more melee focused, he did defeat Jaime Lannister in the semi-finale of the Hand's Tourney and won the whole shebang with Loras Tyrell yielding in the finale, so he definitely is a great jouster too.

Aedil is the title you used for a City Head? Mayor? for Saenaena's husband/brother.

I want to reward this man purely for the balls he's showing.

You may need to check the list again because I managed to convince DP that Ronnet Connington is on blatant rebellion against Storm's end, and

4. Huh. He followed Stannis in canon and is noted as famed, so probably another Stormlander knight and a noteworthy one at that.

Replaced this guy Azel's commenting to.

@LonelyWolf999 apparently wants to post a list of another 16 people to add to this, extending the joust by one round, so we might see both.
Yeah, I got at least half a dozen canon characters like Ser Richard Horpe, quest characters like Ser Gerold, and a bunch of OCs to give a bit of flavor to the various areas of Westeros. For example, I'm genuinely shocked there isn't a single bastard currently on the list.

Well, Ser Criston Storm from Crake's omakes is a bastard. Did you just mean canon bastard?

Yeah, I definitely want more of them. Men who have nothing to inherit and thus everything to give in pursuit of their ambition.

That's exactly my point. Westerosi prejudice aside, bastards have a lot of reason to resent their trueborn contemporaries and a foot in the door to nobility, while almost permanently being locked from any real power, agency, or respect. I'm willing to bet there are dozens of baseborn knights joining the tourney hoping to either make it big on their own or supplant their relatives.

That's a overly long way to say "recruit".

By the way, found this picture of a 2.13m and 6.6 kg / 14.6 lb Zweihänder:

@Snowfire, do you still think we shouldn't dial down the Praetorian Blade to 15 pounds? Because look at that thing.

If we aren't focusing on spell DCs, Displacement beats Slow.
