Corbray is a devil cultist, so I don't see why devils wouldn't be involved if he was.

Anyway, @DragonParadox, can we buy Elysian Bronze in the Opaline Vault or Armun Kelisk? I've been wanting to make Waymar another set of armor. The fact that it gets extra bonuses against all magical beasts is probably going to make it great deal useful in the future.

As DP said they would be relics at most. However we can certainly use it along with rune craft if they are relics with their own history and legends.

What is the exact goal of waymar's alchemist project? Is it just improving the alchemy skills of our graduates or making Pathfinder Alchemists?

It is to introduce a Alchemist course and alchemists into our magic kingdom I believe

His class treats bronce as a different, better, Material. Eventually as Starmetal.
I don't think material properties stack, so that's better than Elysian Bronce.

I don't see why they wouldn't. When I asked earlier, DP confirmed that Elysian Bronze will count as Bronze for the purposes of Waymar's PrC. I don't think the properties of Elysian Bronze would just be overridden.

@DragonParadox, could we get a ruling over this?

I like the fact that Waymar (not the most academically minded hero) is the one having issues with his project.
And the "he spars to work out tension" is a nice character beat. Great writing there DP!

Honestly I am semi-tempted to push to just put more people in that project to give us more rolls in that area. Maybe one of the Erynies or one of the witches or anyone with an alchemy skill. Literally whatever it takes to speed that up. I will give it another month before pushing for it.

The properties do indeed stack except for hardness where he takes the most advantageous option between the metal's properties and what his PrC allows.

So both Pathfinder Alchemists and skilled Experts skilled in alchemy?

The difference between Alchemy and alchemy in this case I think is that one is going into the more esoteric, reality altering aspects of the pursuit, whereas the latter is more of a science.

I guess the only thing I can think of to accurately describe it is one takes it to the heights of art, and the other refines a set of rote steps that can be replicated consistently. The former can't bestow eternal youth and ludicrous physical and mental enhancements upon everyone, but he can give it to himself since he has likely experimented on his own body and in risking it like that through trial and error has come up with a formula that won't just turn them inside out. Replicating it for another individual would basically necessitate not only understanding that person's mind and body as well as they do their own, but the person basically carefully regulating their intake of alchemical substances over a similarly long period of time that they would basically have to be an Alchemist to do so.

@DragonParadox?

@DragonParadox?

A very good summation. An alchemist is a craftsman with magical materials, while an Alchemist pours himself body and soul into his craft and in exchange can craft wonders undreampt by his or her lesser peers.

So people, long-term builds:
  • I want Waymar in Abjurant Champion, and adding Dispel Magic and Deflect to his spells known. A way to get Shield would be excellent too.
  • Tyene really should just take more levels of Mystic.
  • Rina isn't quite there yet, but when she finishes her PrC I'd like to see her take some Contemplative (2 or 3 levels will do), and then 2 or 3 levels of Sacred Exorcist (she already qualifies for both).
  • Maelor is a harder choice. Maybe another Theurge class (but qualifying would require hoops and Feats) to keep progressing Invocations and Sorcerer spellcasting? Something like Uncanny Trickster or Legacy Champion would maybe do the trick too, depending on whether or not Theurge spellcasting advancement are class features or not. I do like the idea of Hellfire Warlock for him though...
  • Vee is a fun one! I like the idea of her getting into Holt Warden. It's not bad and it has a lot of cool factor going for it. Ideally she'd be able to retrain her early levels or go into Epic levels or something, in the hope of getting the glorious glorious level 9 agelessness ability. Unlikely, but would be nice! The level 5 ability is just so cool anyway. I also like Earth Dreamer (feat prerequisite, but thematic abilities). And of course there is the Thaumaturgist, an awesome PrC for summoners if we want to go even further into the "Vee calls spirits to fight" thing. It lets you cast Contingent summon spells, grants bonus feats and eventually brings a Lesser Planar Ally Cohort, among other things.
  • Lya is finishing her PrC soon! Finally! She should then just take another few levels in Mystic Theurge.
  • Richard and Daenerys already have a second custom PrC. Good for them.

*suggests taking lackluster classes with okay-to-pathetic class features*

Oh @TalonofAnathrax. You amuse me so.

Edit: Contemplative and Sacred Exorcist are aight, though. whenthesunhitstheridgejustright.jpg

Your old friend the Lady of Lyceos might be able to do it too but she would need to not be suicidal or busy.
Don't get me wrong, @DragonParadox, I'm not actually bummed out by this. I am 100% okay with never getting them. We have plenty of fantastic crafters who are doing everything we need and more. Artificers at this point would have just been a curiosity at best. But yeah, if it's going to need Lya time, then RIP Artificers. You'll never see the light of day.

EDIT: Honestly Artificers aren't interesting enough for me to attempt to get suicidal Saenena to agree to teaching "mongrel barbarian mages".

Abjurant Champion is absolutely amazing, you heathen! How does a +10 to AC that stacks with almost anything else sound? And quickened dispels?

Holt Warden and Earth Dreamer are both good (full spellcasting and some powerful but niche abilities).
Thaumaturgist brings a bonus feat (from retraining the current Augment Summoning), Extends her Summons (and she uses them a lot!), and I'm pretty sure it allows for Contingent Summon Elemental Swarm, which is amazing and gets around casting time quite well. And of course it has full spellcasting too.
