A Reforged World (NO SV, You are King of Italy, in a Greatly Changed World)

So Isabella, how are we doing things for the opening crawl and story of the chapter:

D100 => 69 vs D100 => 1

Luciano my boy... when a girl wants you to sleep with her... don't go insulting her physical appearance and how weak she would be in your workshop!

Isabella's response:
D100 => 90+D100 => 85

Unless she's into that shit. :V

Book 3 Chapter 8: Changing in the Wind
Book 3 Chapter 8: Changing in the Wind
Our Hero wants to do something about the strangeness that is soon. Also, he is reminded that he is a young man. And married to a woman with needs.

Isabella was taking a simple moment to herself as you walked into her room, and discovered that she was changing… in your room, not her own quarters, which was surprising.

She gasped and screamed. "My apologies, I did not know you were-" The clothes covered your face as you turned around. "Isabella I am so sorry-"

"Shut up and get out!" She shrieked and you quickly threw the dress down and exited the room.

A few moments passed before you knocked on the door. "Why are you in my room?"

A moment passed as she answered. "Your room was empty and quiet."

That did not give you much confidence. "And is that a problem with your own quarters? I can ask that your section of the palace-"

The door then opened, and Isabella was decent, and she pulled you in.

She then walked away from you and walked over to the window. "Do you have any inkling of what I may want?"

You raised your eyebrow. "Not really. I never really had any friends my age, save Ezio… but why are you asking?"

She then raised an eyebrow. "You aren't interested in seeing my body and doing your duty?"

You frowned. "If this is a manipulation tactic, I really don't think that it's working."

Isabella then exhaled and facepalmed. "You don't want to have sex with me?"

"I mean, if you're asking me, right now doesn't seem appropriate." You stated.

"Do you even know what sex is?" She asked.

You raised an eyebrow. "I know what the act of sex is. I'm not an idiot."

She then took a breath. "Do you find me attractive?"

You raised an eyebrow. "Um… physically?" You asked. "Because If you are asking if I find you attractive, you will be disappointed."

"What?" She asked. "I'm the daughter of one of the royal families of Europe! The Great Hapsburg line."

"Yes I know that, and I don't see how you could be attractive," you stated. "You are skinny and pale, and honestly don't look like you've ever done anything physically demanding that would make me see you as attractive."

"You like physically strong women?" Isabella stated.

"I mean, I'm a craftsman, who likes working all day… I want someone who can help me if I need it. You look like you would drop tools if I handed them to you. And then shriek and cry about it."

Even though you would admit she was pretty to look at.

"Then maybe we can work on that together."

She started undoing her dress and letting it fall to the floor. "Take off your pants."

Oh… She then kissed you, and it felt very nice, and you felt very warm.

And you would both remain in your bed chamber for a very long time. Hopefully, First Minister Randio would understand.

[]To Design a Better Gun (Cannons, Ammunition): You want to see if you can make a better cannon shot. Reward: You make the explosive better.

AN: Enjoy. and vote in plan format please.

"Yes I know that, and I don't see how you could be attractive," you stated. "You are skinny and pale, and honestly don't look like you've ever done anything physically demanding that would make me see you as attractive."

George Lucas just invaded the quest for a bit to write that dialogue for Magoose.

For the State-related actions, I'd say to finish off the tours of meeting our Political Subjects: The Republicans and The Royalists.

For Personal Actions, I'd say Isabella, Machiavelli, and The Steam Engine..

A plan to establish an alliance of mutual protection of coasts and mediterranean trade lanes is an easier sell then an outright naval alliance or mutual defense treaty.

It's a lot of linetails, but it's no crazier than what they did to the north african coastline a few years past.

Wife matters and a lot of innovation.

It's only been three years since the last one? I think maybe check a little later. Other than Holy Rome, we haven't done anything which would change there opinions of us much.

Machiavelli has asked to relax last time, to be left to his retirement. Maybe give him at least a year break?

How will you make an excuse to the Spanish that conquered the land since 1462? Do what the British did in the Falklands?

Maybe give him at least a year break?

The way I saw that, I just started thinking: "Are we planning to give him a misunderstood cold shoulder?" Wouldn't he want us to visit at least once to check on him and just have a casual talk?

Finish the Prime Minister's project so we can move onto more ambitious stuff. Try rebuilding Rome again so we can have a healthy city and Isabella can be healthy. Meet with the polar opposites in the royalists and the republicans so we can handle both political extremes of the spectrum and be better equipped to rule in the future.

Continue bonding with Isabella and maybe start to form love. Check into our diplomacy because with the Ottomans victory against Hungary, we may need to be involved in a coalition to contain them or watch out for any major dynastic plays. See if we can make any progress on the Steam Engine and truly start the Industrial Revolution two centuries early. Make better canons to level the playing field for our Army.

Reasoning:

City of Light: Let's see if we can speed up and/or reduce the costs of the other Rome actions.

Grazinis and Republicans: Let's also check in with the other political factions in our country before they do something unexpected.

Simple Matters: I doubt I need to explain this one.

The Prince: Let's please learn from Machiavelli's book this Turn.

Ezio: We have a Trait that gives us +5 to all of our rolls for every relationship we have that's over 5/10… which requires us to have relationships over 5/10 to actually be useful.

Steam Engine: Better tech is one of our big advantages, so I'd like to leverage it. And if we can kick off the Industrial Revolution a few hundred years early, well… so much the better for us, so much the worse for our enemies.

Now, it's been a while since the last thread so I might be forgetting something, but do we have the authority to do this without 1) a formal declaration of war, and 2) running said declaration by the Senate first?

Isabella decided she wanted to consummate because Luciano honestly was the best person for her and Luciano basically decided that he took all the wrong lessons to heart.

Good thing that his insults only made Isabella more horny.

This is an absolutely terrible course of action. Why are we declaring war on both the Portuguese and the Spanish for their practice of slavery? They aren't making our subjects into slaves and they aren't taking slaves from our sphere of influence. It's entirely out of our sphere as immoral as the practice and there is no guarantee that slavery will even last long depending upon the rolls. We have no business playing policeman when most Italians don't even give a damn about slavery and having their sons die so Africans won't be in bondage will piss the common Italian and make Luciano very unpopular.

Nevermind that we are going to war against both Spain and Portugal, and that declaring war on Spain unprovoked over the matter of protecting non-Christian Africans is going to make us seem like a lunatic to Europe and turn Italy into a complete pariah. We may take those islands, but Austria and the HRE will be called into the war since the Emperor is the grandfather of the Spanish King, and our army is still mid while we share a massive land border with Austria and the HRE. France may join the dogpile, a revived Hungary may do so, and we ruin our booming economy and undo all the greatness achieved in the last decade for a moral stance, not to mention ruining the whole point of marying Isabella for legitimacy and peace and trade with Iberia and the HRE. Not to mention that we would be fighting half of Europe while Suleiman and the Ottomans are on the march, therefore risking our Greek territories and Italy herself.

We are not at the level to play 21st century America regardless of how strong our Navy is and how good our guns are. Save the moral interventions for when we are as strong as Ancient Rome.

The way I saw that, I just started thinking: "Are we planning to give him a misunderstood cold shoulder?" Wouldn't he want us to visit at least once to check on him and just have a casual talk?
That's not how the action has ever worked. We've never once gone to him without it turning into a "Luciano needs diplomatic advice" session. It's even in the description that we go seeking his wisdom. He wants a break some politics, and at least this year, he should be left alone, just based on what he said last year.
How will you make an excuse to the Spanish that conquered the land since 1462? Do what the British did in the Falklands?
Not make an excuse? "I required this island to coninue my war on slavery, and you are a nation bereft a ruler. Do not test me on this."

Now, it's been a while since the last thread so I might be forgetting something, but do we have the authority to do this without 1) a for declaration of war, and 2) running said declaration by the Senate first?
I believe so? It isn't something @Magoose has covered? That might be the failed roll out come? Though, between the Prime minister being a vetran of the navies north african campaign and strong anti-slavery sentiment in the parliament and senate, I don't imagine it will fail?
Hmm, would it be possible to recommend sending new officers and units to Northern Italy to deal with the raiders as battlefield experience and testing ground of new ideas to experiment with as an extension to that plan?
I can add a "fund border defense drills" linetail. Raiders aren't much of a problem with our navy being what it is.
strong as Ancient Rome
Be as immoral and shitty as ancient rome? NEVER!!

Be as immoral and shitty as ancient rome? NEVER!!

There are countless other ways to be a moral Italy without declaring an unjust war against our dynastic in-laws that will have our wife hate us and make us despised by most Italians while seen by the continent as a lunatic. How about...oh I don't know, confronting the Ottomans and stopping their conquest of Europe. You know, the Empire that brutally oppresses all non-Muslims and has a literal corps of soldiers composed of child slaves?

And then there is the fact the currently main influential faction really does not like war. So yeah, not only would going on the offence now be problematic.
Not make an excuse? "I required this island to coninue my war on slavery, and you are a nation bereft a ruler. Do not test me on this."
...There WILL be pushback, ESPECIALLY if we also steal land from yet another nation. Because simply put, it would be seen as unprovoked aggression and would serve to make enemies of many people. Cause stealing land for the sake of supporting a political agenda isn't exactly an excuse, and we wouldn't just be bullying random natives that no-one cares about either.

[X] Plan Networking and Invention
-[X]The Prime Ministers' Pet Project: The Prime minister is wishing to use the surplus of Gold in the budget to fund schools… Grammar School he calls them, to teach latin, Italian, and Greek, along with mathematics and literacy. He just needs your support for the Senate to Approve them. DC: ??? Reward: You begin the process of founding new schools for the Major cities. (Will complete This turn)
-[X] The Men who would make you an Autocrat: The Grazini's. The so-called Royalists, and His Majesty's most Loyal Friends in the Senate. That is to say, they want to destroy the Senate, and the farcical Republican institutions that had been instilled into the Nation. While you do not agree with their… final goal, you also see that they can be good allies in a pinch, to secure a majority in government. DC: 20 Reward: You meet with the Royalists, and find out more about their objectives and political makeup.
-[X]The Last Republicans: There are not many that would consider themselves Ardent Republicans… That much was certain when they dwindled in the last few years. But they are men who were of the same Cloth as Machevelis coat before Macheveli chose the State, then his republican ideals, men who saw the bright future of a Republic smothered away by compromise, instead of dealing with it. DC: 20 Reward: You meet with the Republicans. The men who would have given everything for a Republic.
Your Plan is missing an Action.

Reminder:
Do we have 3 Government actions or 4 because the Prime Ministers action is in use already?
4,but the prime ministers action uses 1

I believe so? It isn't something @Magoose has covered? That might be the failed roll out come? Though, between the Prime minister being a vetran of the navies north african campaign and strong anti-slavery sentiment in the parliament and senate, I don't imagine it will fail?
We do have the authority to declare war without the senates approval but they will not be happy about it when we do.

What power does the senate have? Collecting taxes and customs?
They are the only one who's can make binding laws, set the budget for the year and much more that Luciano does not have the capacity or the training to deal with.

A lot more.

Luciano only has three very important powers.

He can declare war, conduct diplomacy and lead armies and strategy without the senates approval.

They've wizened up and are keeping themselves out of the sea, have an actual peace treaty with us, unlike every other nation in the world because there all keeping the option to invade us on standby, especially Spain which has only failed to make a move against Italy because Charles fucked off to Europe.

Well, clearly as the sole person interested in actually allowing the navy to continue there war on slavery, it looks like I'm going to have to give up on naval might and turn to diplomacy instead. I'll be swapping in a different action in place of give the navy orders and switching my diplomacy to annexing Gibralter financially. I imagine lack of a king will make the process cheaper and bribes easier.
