In a world where someone who follows a different religion is seen as inherently evil, the Spanish were just about to practice mass slavery and color-based racism is spreading like vogue, we have nowhere near the social foundations of tolerance to make a political forum for the purpose of engaging in diplomacy across the world. Best we can achieve is maybe a Congress of Vienna style informal forum where the Great Powers of Europe have a common understanding of what the balance of power is. Though even then you have to drill into everyone's thick skulls that they're not the divinely ordained ruler of everything and have to play nice with others.

Um… I am going to say this:
The abolition of the global slave trade that took centuries of political will and horror in our timeline, is… a product of the collective Italian people's trauma from the Islamic pirates and Islamic slave trade that took hundreds of thousands if not millions of people in the 500 years it was active in quest timeline and more irl.
Luciano is… for a lack of a better word, a beneficiary of a people who have had family and friends taken from their homes to parts unknown.
Now Luciano did make it state policy to end the slave trade. But Italy would never allow itself to profit from slavery
None of the prime ministers will match Machiavelli in terms of skill and influence in terms of politics and creating more economic and political stuff.

To explain something, the fate of Hungery is currently in flux, as I have not decided what would happen to it.
At this current time, its currently independent, with Louis on the throne.
That may change in the future.
Severin Overthrows the Hungarian Monarch to place Luciano on the throne, obviously.

Italian Reunification had some interesting effects.
one of those, is some of the southern cantons joined Italy...
mostly for the money that it will be great.
The swiss territories that we own were historically part of the Duchy of Savoy which joined us in unification.
Purchasing other nation's territories with money would be considered anathema at this time with land only being exchanged through war or inheritance. We'd have to give Spain something very valuable for them to diplomatically concede the island to us, and Charles is doing just fine on his own.

I assume you mean in the Quest TL. Because the big trading cities (e.g. Venice, Genoa...) sure did profit from it OTL and there was slavery in italian cities
