To the King of Italy, Luciano Grazini, from General Bonaparte:
I write you in confidence, that the Ottoman forces in Greece have been utterly destroyed, and that, despite earlier opposition from Turkish settlers, we have taken many key cities and fortifications, though there is something that can be said to the enemy.
They are focused on Africa, and Persia, and securing their frontier, rather than our expedition. To their detriment.
Greece, save for Thrace, and Constantinople, is entirely under our control.
I hope you don't mind, but the people are trying to crown you King of the Greeks, and protector of the Seas.
I'll leave it to you to accept that, because I am not in the mood to accept a crown.
General Bonaparte, acting commander of the Army of Rhodes.

There is something that you do not understand. And that was love. How truly you could love something that you didn't have control over every aspect of? That you were leaving things entirely to chance.
It was so unlike your mind to just, accept you couldn't control everything, or anything in that.
And you then looked to Niccolo and realized that was precisely what had to happen. You were not going to try and force, to mold him into you, because he was a child, and he was not like you.
He could, and you would encourage it… yet, it was not what he wanted.
Isabella watched him crawl around, and coo with some of the small children playing with him. "You know, I was wondering why you would not give him a more regimented education. You are allowing him too much freedom."
"Why would I not? I turned out to be a good man with such freedom. Maybe he can understand that it's not the freedom that he desires, but the responsibility of it. And he is a child. Let him be a child."
She frowned. "Is it strange that I don't understand you and your methods? He needs to learn to be a king?"
'Perhaps." You smirked. "But I will want him to learn how to be a person first. How to be our son."
She smiled. "Thats-" She paused and just watched him play. "Yes."
"Yes?"
"Your right. Let him learn to be Niccolo."
