Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

[X] Toward the moonlit peak and its unseenplayers, calling her to join the serenade

The Sky is the most interesting to me, as it mentions not only freedom, but also visiting the other locations.
You really shouldn't expect any choice to be essential "All other choices, combined, no drawbacks".

Like, okay, wind as a synergetic glue-element is possible and probable aaaand might allow to get us something like Argent Techniques or some jack-of-all-trades stuff, but it is still going to be its own thing, not some sort of an uber-option which allows getting everything.

[X] Into the sky, unfettered and free, to visit where ever she wished, at the time she wished

I will settle on this for now, but my votes are highly vulnerable to good arguments.

@yrsillar, this is a bit off:
+100 Yellow Spirit Stones

The amount of spirit stones Liling paid in reparations was enough to make her atrophied sense of greed flinch, and even her part of it was more wealth than she had ever had in her possession at once, even including the influx of funds from Yan Renshu's base. She… might have to start looking into what could be ordered from crafters outside the Sect. Especially once she broke through.
current money said:
894 Red Stones
30 Yellow Stones
We had 120YSS before this.

Hmm, maybe heaven/wind/thunder because they all fall under heaven. Note though she wants to be "unfettered", in her previous breakthrough she noted that her friends and obligations where roots and chains binding her down. If you want to be not bound by anything then you have to discard everything also.

Fuck no it isn't, and do not go trying to lie about it to get votes.

But the Sky option isn't trying to discard anything. It's trying to stretch itself out to encompass all the other options, rather than casting them all out in order to enjoy them all equally.

While I will not argue that Sky will result in Ling Qi acquiring the other domains, I will also argue that the Sky option will likely result in the most flexible bonus.

Plus, I like the idea of Ling Qi finally achieving the freedom she wanted. She left home and endured life on the streets all for the sake of freedom, and while she did not enjoy it, she does not regret it. I think it's a fitting development for Ling Qi to finally experience the freedom she wants.

Not freedom from, but freedom to.

Bronze might be a bit tougher because we don't have the pills, but I guess we can take our time with that.

[] The little village, full of little people and shadows that would keep her safe.
Darkness, safety, thievery, binding herself to points of light in whose shadows Ling Qi is safe -- Meizhan's actions against Yan Renshu's attempts at retaliation, Su Ling's divination during Growing Pains, etc?

[] Toward the moonlit peak and its unseen players, calling her to join the serenade.
Moon, mountain, music, connection to Zeqing? Possibly also her mother, Qingqe.

[] Into the forest, full of life and joy. She did not want to leave her friends waiting.
Wood, fire, friendship, her happiness at having friends that'll support her and who she can support -- Suyin, in this update, Su Ling, back during Growing Pains, Gu Xiulan, etc. A repudiation of her street life? Zhengui, possibly: Wood and Fire are his elements.

[] Into the sky, unfettered and free, to visit where ever she wished, at the time she wished.
Wind, sky, freedom. Weak connections, but connections still exist? The loneliest option.

There isn't an abundance of information from which conclusions can be extrapolated. I expect, though, what we choose is what part of Ling Qi's personality gets a bit of emphasis from her breakthrough.

I like Ling Qi's attachment to her friends, so.

Sky is Freedom, but Freedom doesn't mean ' a bit of everything'. It's definitely not the everything bonus, it's probably about Wind.

@yrsillar so there is no attribute cap increase or ??? bonus? very interesting. I was so sure we'd get cap increase.

I don't know about anyone else, but instead of trying to guess and choose based on mechanics, I'm going to pick the narrative that I like the sound of most.

[X] Into the forest, full of life and joy. She did not want to leave her friends waiting.

And that's friends and little turtlebro for me. Mystical moon child is a second though.

So being unfettered is not discarding anything? Even we have heard, from Ling Qi herself, that connections are chains and roots? It is about visiting, moving as she likes. But never being close to anything, never really committing to anything. You cant have full unfettered freedom and chain/roots at the same time, Ling Qi wanted strength to carry those connections but the sky discards them for fleeting meetings (unfettered remember?). It is the worst type of mindset for how Ling Qi has developed and a path I rather not have Ling Qi take.

And yes the sky option was never the "all the things" option. There will never be "all the things" option. Well maybe if we had the argent path choice in this because that is about balance and using all the elements/mindset and enhancing who the person is.

yrsillar did say that no option was a single element, and while the options is linked with the wind, it doesn't seem purely aligned to the wind. It sounds more like the lesson that we got from the Wood/Wind tutor, where we learned that the wind is capable of "touching" all other elements, capable of uniting otherwise dissonant elements in it's vastness.

I have no idea what that mechanically translates into, but I trust yrsillar to ensure that all the options are mechanically beneficial in their own way.

Just because you aren't obligated to do something doesn't mean you are detached from something. The Sky option is not all about simply being "free" from everything that Ling Qi does. It emphasizes what Ling Qi would do with that freedom, what she would do if she were truly unfettered.

And what would Ling Qi do? Visit her friends. Explore music. Connect with the Moon. Deepen her bonds. Keep her loved ones safe.

The Sky is not just about becoming unbound and unfettered. It is also about using that freedom to continue your bonds. Of not allowing your bonds to weaken with distance or time.

Of being able to go anywhere, and choosing to stay where you want.

That, to me, does not seem fleeting or flighty. It is, perhaps, the most profound proof of Ling Qi's development. That even when she has no obligation to be anywhere, she chooses to stay with her friends.

When you are able to go anywhere, where you choose to stay matters that much more.
