Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Since the leading plan includes talking to Not!Kabuto, can we add a free action of "Ask him if he knows anything about 4th Argent Art"? If he does, we can make an official minor next week to haggle for it.
That'd be adding favors owed rather than clearing
Favors owed to Fu Xiang are likely to turn into missions that result in stealth rolls, damage to our mutual enemies, and an improved relationship with Fu Xiang. I'd almost call them net positives for us.

It's also possible that he would part with some useful information for cash money. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable commission if he could hook us up with a source of Sable Light Pills, Abyssal Earth Pills, or Starlight Elixirs. Hell, I'd pay an unreasonable commission.

Thing is, I'd be willing to accept the winning plan.

Except it forces the "Give our new site to Su Ling". Write-in.

And I'm quite sure that's a bad idea. Zeqing was willing to tolerate one person knowing where one of the sites was, but two might be pushing it.

I'm not even sure if anybody else even notices that it tries to muscle that through either. But I strongly, strongly believe it's a bad idea. The Black Pool was on the edge of Zeqing's territory, this is well into it--and it's another stranger.
Let's not be dishonest. The black pool OR the peak are not in Zeqing's territory. Zeqing comes here once every two weeks, and only to meet with us. She has explicitely told us "one or TWO" people. She has never seen Meizhen, and Su Ling won't ever see her.
If you want meridians, then PrimalShadow's plan is the best option there.

The simple fact of the matter is that we need 6 meridians before brekthrough for our current arts. We have two highsun and an eightfold, making the logical combination of a 2 meridian week and a 3 meridian week.
We want 5 meridians: 2 for AS, 1 for AC, 1 for FSA, 1 for FZ. What's the sixth one?

When it comes down to it, the AS one will be gotten with eightfold, the second AS one will be gotten with skyblood the week after (manually) and maybe the AC one too, but it won't be needed till week 35. FSA/FZ won't be needed till week 36 or so.

Who knows, Cai might just reward him and that's that. Obviously it'd be better to make him more inclined to help us personally, and get some interesting missions from him, but we both serve the same person who has a habit of paying for services rendered to her group.

Whoops, you're right. I misremembered AM3 as needing 50 rather than 60.

Better change back to eightfold then.

Meh, let's try to argument as to why we should share the moutain site with Su Ling.

I think the dangers are very exaggerated: while there are some parallels one could draw between Zeqing and Su Ling's mom, there is no reason for Su Ling to see those parallels... and no reason for her to even see her. Meizhen has never seen Zeqing, after all. The peak is, like the Black Pool, not in Zeqing's domain, too. Likewise, Zeqing told us getting a second person to the site is OK.

The benefits are fairly big for Ling Qi if she does share it. @yrsillar works on narrative as well as mechanical rules for secondary characters, and Su Ling having access to a very powerful mountain site just when she is having difficulties with the moutain sword art she is learning has strong narrative potential. Considering we have been told that Su Ling and Li Suyin are 'experimenting' with Argent Liquid, Su Ling, if given the site, will put an extra effort into experimenting with her considering how she is a gal who likes to get even.

So, it's a very big potential benefit there when it comes to Argent Liquid being gotten earlier/better.

Then, there is the fact that we want Su Ling to get strong. The reason we didn't try to share the vent with the GF group was so that we wouldn't put both group in conflict as well as increasing the odds of them being able to get in the inner sect. Su Ling obviously is not going for the combat track, but she needs the moutain site for a defensive sword art. Her being able to defend herself better means that she can put more time safely into getting better at production. Even if Su Ling still isn't planning to get in the inner sect (unsure), she wants to beat her Cyan mom in the future. Cyans are... very, very strong. Even a early Cyan has 16 autos on a early green, and that's not taking into account other stuff.

Su Ling being strong means being able to keep our social link longer more easily, making her safer in the army, and maybe her being a more solid ally.

Question! Is Windblown Field the place with Zeqing? Cause if that's the case, I'm not sure about sharing it with Su Ling, given her issues with Spirits eating their husbands. If it's for the Mountain bonus, why not the Growing Caverns? Hell, that's arguably better because I'm willing to bet Earth is pretty far from Fire/Lake as well, so there's a chance of Su Ling has some earth arts.
I'm opposed to sharing extra sites when they aren't places we discovered ourselves.

For this very reason, you will find that my plan does NOT share the site with Su Ling.

[] Plan Open Meridians Instead
So Growing Caverns doesn't have the +12 boost to Mountain but it does give +5, as well as +5 to Earth arts which Su Ling has an actual affinity for. Offering that with the caveat that Meizhen's cool with it should be fine.

[x] Plan eightfold week redux

You know, twelve dice IS a lot. Especially for people who aren't Ling Qi.

And Zeqing is pretty much forbidden from hurting the students. The heck with it.

I think I'm most frustrated as to why the Meizhen unspoken minor is not picked is because the reasons given make no sense.

The common reason that pops up is that Meizhen asked us to not ask about it. ... But this refers to the "Why did you not ask me?" rather than "What did you think of as a plausible option?"

Ling Qi nodded, but her frown remained. "...Why have you never asked me to join you like that?" The words slipped out before she could really think about it.

Meizhen stiffened beside her, a trace of an unhappy expression marring her ethereal features. "Please do not ask me such things, Ling Qi."

Ling Qi duly heard this... and then promptly ignored it and asked again. This question was then answered by Meizhen. i.e. It was already asked (twice) and already answered.

Ling Qi looked down, feeling unhappy herself for bringing the atmosphere down. "I don't think I would mind so much if it was you," she said anyway. "I just… I don't really know her. How am I supposed to trust someone who never stops playing to the crowd? Who I know is trying to manipulate me into liking her now?"

Meizhen lowered her head. "I…" her friend trailed off, not looking at her. "I would enjoy showing you the Thousand Lakes, but you would not enjoy being under my family," she continued quietly. "And while I am a member of the main family, I do not have the authority to make such offers on a personal level," Ling Qi caught a flicker of something in her faintly glowing eyes. There was a 'but' there, left unspoken. "Cai Renxiang is a straightforward person, service under her would suit you well… and I think her good as well, for what that is worth."

The unspoken Meizhen minor specifically points out that Meizhen may have thought of a way for the two of them to stay together, which the Bai clan vassal option would not do. That is, it's a distinct and separate option from that. And funny enough, Meizhen did not say, "Don't ask me about my idea."

Another commonly given reason is we should trust Meizhen if she didn't bring something up, that she had considered it and then not said or done anything about it. First, this is not a matter of trust - both Ling Qi and the thread frequently ask due to Meizhen's personality. If you can't ask about something if Meizhen didn't bring something up on her own, you can never ask anything because Meizhen is a yin as fuck cultivator who constantly holds back - words (and heh, action). Second, if this was truly a belief that some people held, the other Meizhen minor could not be chosen because Meizhen spars with us weekly and has considered and disregarded going harder in said spars. If it is a matter of trust, there's no point in pushing and asking her about the spars: we should trust she has a good reason and she hasn't brought it up. If anything, this is even more of a matter of "trust" because she has made this choice every week for months now.

This is of course ridiculous - on both options - because these minors has never been a matter of trust. There's no question we trust her ... but we do ask about things we're curious about because that's the only way we'll know with Meizhen.

Yes, that would certainly be less of a problem, given that Meizhen actually knows Su Ling, and we are asking her for explicit permission.

But honestly, it may very well be unnecessary. Remember that Su Ling has done a bunch of her own exploration; what makes you think she hasn't found anything fitting?

No real reason not to offer, we our known for our insane luck so might be ours is better than whatever she's hypothetically using.

Hurting the students have nothing to do with it.
We ask before sharing sites used by other friends.

Just because she's a spirit doesn't mean the same courtesy need not apply

Absolutely ZERO to do with it:
-We're asking Meizhen about a sensitive topic this turn regarding Sun's real power level.
-We have no urgent need to find out the alternative solution since we aren't breaking through yet.
--Or for the matter the need for an alternative solution since everything we've seen and heard says that Cai is a good choice by basically every standard, but I reckon acting with information is always better than willfully acting blind.
-Ergo its simply common sense to address the urgent matter while it's fresh before Sun tears us a new asshole, and to space it out so we don't risk a double whammy on Meizhen if it goes poorly.

The other minor isn't pushing and asking her about the spars.
[] You now know that Meizhen has obviously been holding back in your spars, talk with her about your encounter Sun Liling
It is about discussing what happened with Sun Liling. So I expect us to talk about:
  • Our feelings from the experience
    • How we feel weak
    • How we are frightened
  • How Sun Liling was stronger then us, and what we can do to gradually fix that
    • Possibly note that FVM doesn't have enough dice
  • How strong Sun Liling is compare to other cultivators at that rank
