Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

On another note, I think people have been getting perhaps a little over-excited by a mere +5 dice bonus from tortoise.

It's nice, yes, but it's not going to make a huge difference to our cultivation speed. Over ~10-12 turns (roughly what it should take to get an Art to 5), we can expect to save ~1 action. Nice, but hardly game-changing.

We've got those bonuses immediately after birth, I imagine as he gets older, it'll develop into bigger bonuses.

Well we also get plus 10 qi.
And the lil guy is gonna grow up nice and strong.
*cough cough* We get -10 Qi, not +10 Qi.

People get excited by bonus, but one action won over 10 actions is still one action won :p More seriously, yeah, it's not that big.... but probably will get significantly better when our Xuanwu is Stage 2+.

You guys do realise that a tortoise and a turtle are not the same right?

Why name a tortoise-snake "Precious Turtle"? Imagine if we called their father a turtle. He probably would have crushed us for our insolence.

It's like calling a wolf a dog.

It's the same character in both. 乌龟 or wu gui is tortoise. 海龟 or hai gui is turtle (more accurately, sea turtle).

The name cannot be translated to precious turtle. 珍贵 or zhen gui (note the diff. character for gui) refers to precious in its entirety - that is, both characters together mean precious.

Edit: That said, @Grigori's joke is hilarious. Can you imagine the look on Meizhen's face if we trolled her and told her that we named our new spirit beast REAL TURTLE? At least before clarifying what we really named him. :')

I see. I admit I have no knowledge of any of the chinese languages, so I stand corrected.

To be honest my understanding of the language doesn' include much more than what I learnt today, I just spent far too much time reading around about names/characters. I'm possibly too invested in little Zhengui and I've always loved when authors manage to fit in word play or interesting associations when naming characters.

I suspect that having fire and wood aligned Meridians on us will help his development, that those bonus dice will STACK with site bonus dice, and that they'll get bigger as he levels up. Basically there are cascading reasons to invest, and they help each other.

[X] [Name] Reliance

I would find it simply hilarious if this name wins and we receive various characters' reactions to such a non-sequitur of a decision.

I want a reliable spirit beast, not Patriarch Reliance, thankyouverymuch!

You asking for our turtle to bestow some good fortune upon us, huh? Patriarch Reliance is the expert on reliability! Everyone in his sect learns they need to have someone they can rely upon, after all. The theme is stated outright several times!

As a matter of fact, if our spirit beast acts like Patriarch Reliance (towards our enemies, hopefully, though I'd be fine with him acting as such to everyone) it'd be even more hilarious!
