I like your plan, but it doesn't have the vent which is basically a deal-breaker for me.

Since you're not doing Golden Fields actions using the attached slot, maybe you should swap training with Han and co for training at the Vent?

Lung/Lung/Heart.
It builds off of the idea of plants that require an occasional flashfire to grow and reproduce properly and uses the three elements in a self-supporting process that escalates in power each time it cycles through rapid plant growth/blazing fire(/drifting ash?) -(each cycle would take more than two/three turns due to intermediate steps, maybe ).

Only Alectai and me have a Guangli in our plans, and both of us currently have 1 vote.

While I saw the Meizhen action going poorly coming from a mile away, I can't even be properly smug because it was clearly the awful roll that made it happen.

I still think that it was probably hasty, but if we were going to roll that badly it wouldn't even have mattered what we did, so there's probably no point even worrying about it.

Really need to get another reroll ability, though. Argent was so much better than EPC in terms of benefits other than throwing more dice at cultivation that I'm just constantly hoping that the next level will be the one that actually justifies using it.

One day, that baby tortoise will be massive and fearsome, and while there's amusement value in calling something like that 'precious' - like calling a hellhound 'Fluffy' - I imagine the joke would wear thin eventually.

Finally there's the problem of adopting him from the filial piety angle of society. In that we aren't the head of our family (I think our mother would be at present) and shouldn't adopt family members without permission. Whilst this is not something Ling Qi would care about it's somehting her friends might actually take issue with (see Xiulan re our mother) and gives our enemies another stick to beat us with.

TLDR: At the very least I'd like to put off a decision until he can actually talk.

Good points. My reasoning was that we are essentially his parent, we've taken on the role of care giver since the day the egg was created, I think that would be reason enough to be able to consider him family and quiet depraved whispers. Also, by the time our political status would truly matter we'd be made head of our own clan and able to adopt. Fair enough with considering this a big step though. Just thinking we'll be raising the little guy like a child rather than a pet and hopefully we can make that clear regardless of whether or not he has our name.

We don't need to meet with Suyin to use the vent - we'll automatically use appropriate sites. And Meizhen is familiar with the vent. We'll still get the vent bonus. We just won't coordinate it with Suyin or get the Suyin bonus.

I mean, I think that making 'equivalencies' between elements is a bit much. They might be similar but they're ultimately different elements. There's no reason that two similar elements would preclude one another in an art's formulation.

I seem to recall that not being the case for the vent when we got it.

It might have changed, I suppose, now that we're one of the bigger fish in the Outer Sect pool.

Pretty sure, yeah. We needed to go as a group for safety, but that's not really needed anymore, and Meizhen has access to the vent anyways. We used a couple sites automatically this last update without actively choosing them - we used the Caverns for water, and the impression I got was that those were even further away.

Zhen gui = Precious 珍贵
Wu gui = Tortoise 乌龟
Xuan Wu, the god, is also known as Zhen Wu (真武) and Zhen Wu Dadi (真武大帝)

Playing off the gui and zhen sound, and there's not a lot of Z names IIRC, so it'd be a distinct name. Plus, it just sounds cool.

So I was pretty vocal in my support of the name Ling Ko, I thought it was a great idea to honour both the turtle(snake)'s mother and ours. It'd be a shortened version of the turtle(snake)'s mother's name following a trend set by our own but Zhengui has kind of grown on me. Now I'm not sure about pronounciation but as well as connections to Xuan Wu and translations of precious and tortoise, zhen (真) also means true/real/genuine and gui (龟) means turtle. Even while being so adorable as to name her baby precious, Ling Qi can continue with her unwitting irreverance in calling awesome spirit tortoises turtles!

Spirit rearing action is Ling Qi upholding her end of the deal, and simply because he is adorable. Visit the archives to research the moon element, and find out what the choice Ling Qi has to make, which is probably related to the duality of the Moon element.

Train FVM because it is a core art, and Han Jian social to see what he is planning to do. Cultivate spiritual to reach late before waiting until the next level of EPC to push one of them to peak. SCS over FSA because it is one of our core arts, and we kinda need to start improving it now so it is ready for whenever the Sun strikes back.

For the remaining social actions I went for Xiulan so she can show off, Cai for obvious reasons, and Gan Guangli because I've been wanting to pick this action for awhile, but something always kept coming up.

OK, I'll switch to that one because it has Gan Guangli and I want to at least give a try to MUSCLE for once. It also has most of what I want otherwise. If I need to I'll go back to back to the basic for tactical voting (SCS, not Xuan Shi), but here we go:

I'm not sure there's a difference in Chinese. I mean tortoise is Wu Gui and turtle is Gui, but also Hai Gui meaning sea turtle.

Either way, the Gui character is the same, so it could work fine as a contraction.

Well technically gui (龟) can be translated as tortoise as well though turtle is more common and turtle is often synonymous with the order that turtles and tortoises belong to in American English so while you wouldn't call all turtles tortoises calling tortoises turtles isn't completely wrong...
Also zhengui as a whole means precious it's just that the characters have different meanings individually as well as that characters that sound the same but with different meanings also exist. The characters that make up precious are zhengui but different characters for zhen and gui can mean true and turtle respectively.

*edit* so pretty much we aren't calling them a turtle unless you look far too into it (like I did! )
珍贵 = precious = Zhengui we'll be using
真 = zhen = true/real/genuine
龟 = gui = turtle

On another note, I think people have been getting perhaps a little over-excited by a mere +5 dice bonus from tortoise.

It's nice, yes, but it's not going to make a huge difference to our cultivation speed. Over ~10-12 turns (roughly what it should take to get an Art to 5), we can expect to save ~1 action. Nice, but hardly game-changing.

Well we also get plus 10 qi.
And the lil guy is gonna grow up nice and strong.
