Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Which is why I am saying some, not all, and possibly only scouts or recon-type familiars at that.

I'd assume not all of them are willing to scour the mountains, especially with a storm clearly brewing on the top, so they might be waiting near the entrance of the tunnel now, ready to move if one of the scouts or familiars scouring the foot of the mountain notices Ling Qi, knowing that the Moonfill scheduled harvest time might have passed and if somehow she did go up, she still have to come down.

But, I am rather paranoid.
Honestly, using scouts against us is a bad idea. We have much better odds of spotting them than they do spotting us, and then we can easily trap them and beat them up. Maybe Kang doesn't know it, but it would be just free money for us.

So, what's Meizhen going to say when we tell her about this trip?

-Went up the mountain the hard way to avoid an ambush.
-Got a bunch of scrub cores
-Ran into a yukimusume
-Played tag with the yukimusume
-Got a nice talisman for babysitting and the nice tier 4 ice spirit cleared the route for her.

[x] Find a new path down
-[X] Switch the Armguards for the Blizzard Pin

I'm going to go with this option for now. I have been convinced that it is not an impossibility that possible ambushers are attempting to follow us by extrapolating our route by knowing the starting position and the end goal. This means, in an effort to avoid them we should take a new path.

Also, a new path is undiscovered treasures, mysterious locations, rewarding tests, and in general basic exploration. As we descend the mountain, the beasts will get easier to deal with, and we will have a bigger opportunity to find a location or another test or a good location. Either way, I'm always up for more exploration, especially since we have a decent qi reserve, don't have to use trackless escape, and have a nice shiny new pin to help us take down enemies!

So, what's Meizhen going to say when we tell her about this trip?
Only you Ling Qi, only you.
(With that same exasperated tone she had when she discovered we got an egg from a level 5 spirit)

Ling Qi blinked throwing up her hands to shield her eyes as the snow storm intensified. When she lowered it, they were gone, and the snowfall had begun to slow. Also, as she looked down, she saw at her feet something bright and glittering. Picking it up she found a fine silver hairpin, the attached ornament in the shape of a snowflake. If she squinted, she could make out the tiny characters etched into the metal.
I think this is another reason to research formations again, given the previous instances. I honestly wouldn't mind a formations binge where we study under Suyin, go to the archive, if it's possible use a minor social action on Xuan Shi, and use 10 points from the sect to go to a formations lesson. The latter in particular is liable to be helpful given I believe it'll be taught by Jiao, and us going there should gauge his interest once more.

Hanyi was little more than a blue blur between snowflakes at times, and it didn't help that she clearly knew this area like the back of her hand, leading Ling Qi on a merry chase through the often vertical terrain. Ling Qi's irritation grew when it became clear the girl could run straight up a cliff as easily as she could a flat path.

Dexterity(due to passive)
Oh yeah, spotted Hanyi using a level 2 movement art I think?

Yuki-Onna are Japanese. Not sure what the name would be in Chinese, and I suspect this is a spirit not a ghost anyways.

Blizzard Pin: A silver pin with a snowflake ornament. Icy cold to the touch. Adds two dice to offensive clashes in which the user casts a wind or water art. Reduces the cost of wind and water arts by one to a minimum of one.
We are totally going to pick up a Water/Wind (Ice) Arms/Spine martial arts next week, aren't we...

Eh, that one isn't such huge luck. It's probably normal luck for a dedicated disciple.
I would think that receiving interest from a level 4 spirit on our way to do a totally unrelated task because we indulged their child and receiving a good talisman from it is a bit above normal for dedicated disciples. I mean, I could understand if it was a test that we passed or location discovered, but we only got this opportunity because of a series of events aligning for us. So I'm going to stick with the idea that this is a pretty lucky encounter.

I mean, I would love to. Don't know about others, but a water/wind art next turn would allow us to use the pin to maximum effectiveness, even when the art might seem pretty weak, and it plays to our wind strength and allows us to spam it a bit.

Reminder that many disciples would have either seriously hurt Hanyi or be seriously hurt by her sending them off a cliff, and that the former is likely to bring a curse from her mother if not outright getting slaughtered. Not so much getting talismans for being a good sport.

I'm not saying they will succeed in having their good luck, but that's pretty much a decent random good luck encounter, not an incredible one. I suspect Bai Meizhen to have had 7+ of those already in the sect, as well as all of the other monsters (and Ji Rong).

Chinese mythology has similar spooks, but the difference is negligible(Yukionna are just as often depicted as elemental spirits as ghosts, it's just the super awkward translation, but they aren't usually categorized as yurei)

With the news that our new icy acquaintance wants to see more of us and Forgotten Vale Melody, I'm thinking we should get going on Spiritual Cultivation next turn. Unfortunately there aren't any good medicines for it, especially compared to the OP Juice that is Bear Marrow Elixir. Anyone else want to see if Su Ling would be willing to make something out of some of the beast cores we've got laying around?

We probably will need the beast cores for the turtle.
This said we do need a medicine to improve our spiritual cultivation.

Darkmoon Pills is a spiritual version of Starlight elixir, since it triggers a spiritual cultivation roll with 3 extra die if we attempt to expand our Qi, which synergises well with Sable Light Pill.

Hanyi thought her mother had shown up when we played forgotten vale melody and the mother mentioned it too, so I think she knows and can use the art. Maybe she's even the one that created it. Hopefully she knows the evolved form after we finish mastering FVM?

Because I didn't add the subvote.

I think less 'created it' and more 'one of the spirits described in it.'

Not quite. It triggers a spiritual cultivation roll with 3 extra die as well as gives +5 to Qi. The roll is not dependant on us cultivating our Qi.
