Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

It was at that point that she noticed dozens of eyes peering at her from the darkness of the cranny ridden walls of the glade. She didn't know how she had missed them coming in, but she was certainly aware now of the many, many white furred, red eyed rabbits watching her from their rocky burrows, noses twitching and eyes glowing. Thankfully they seemed to be content to do just that as she backed out of the glade, sweating under their regard, she was pretty sure at least one of those rabbits had been grade three.

Drum Island Lapahns?! Is dat you?

We must have a bonus to Spirit Diplomacy. Or maybe it's the fact we aren't an asshole.
What some cultivators haven't seemed to get yet, is that it costs literally nothing to be polite to people and spirits we meet. So it could be that because we are polite we aren't slapped down as some upstart angry cultivator that is on a one-man crusade against the institution.

(Looking at you Ji Rong!)

Well again, thing would have gone a lot differently if Ling Qi had rolled less well and been more frustrated with Hanyi by the end, but yeah I suppose it is shaping up that way isn't it.

Hanyi said we had nice eyes..so that's honestly most likely what our character has as a special ability

If so?

So Broooooooken.

So very broke.

But it does mean that Ling Ko will be easy to care for since we seem to have a nack for Spirits.

I'm glad people caught that. Of course it'd be lunar rabbits. Also sheesh, a grade 3 lunar rabbit? How exactly do people survive this mission normally (as an OD mission, the highest taker will probably still only be 2nd realm)? Or is this more like a horror mission - run away under a moonless night while being chased by a pack of thirsty rabbits? That's hilarious.
Well, we have been talking about moon spirits before, and possible forms that they might take. The rabbits were one such example.

I might point out that they're probably trying to hint something if they're filling the pass in again after we left.
Which they? The yukionna and the yukimusume?

Thats...honestly a good point... then again they could just be filling it up to ward off lesser spirits from the area. Kind of like "this is my territory " type of thing
Well, the mother did state that it is not actually her territory.

However, you do make a good point about how the ambushing disciples might be trying to track us down and are in the pass and the snow spirits are interfering with them in that regard.
Huh, this is plausible.

If there are ambush, some might be concerned that she is not taking the pass, and might have ordered some of their members or familiars to scout the mountain paths...

Well, might.

Changing vote, I am consumed by greed.

Also want to see if we roll well again what author senpai will bestow upon us mortals.

Another friendly spirit? A location, loots , stones?! The posibilities are endless

Hmmm. I like Momma.

Maybe Spirits have an Asshole-dar?

I mean, most people have an asshole-dar, and these are young teenagers. Hormones out of control... they're not really known for self-control. Even Ling Qi was a bit frustrated with Hanyi by the end and we've seen her lose her temper before (such as with Fan Yu after the Zhou test). The assholish Cultivators in our year aren't really subtle yet (see: Fan Yu, Young Master in Zhou's 2nd test).

Yep. Will settle for wind or darkness site too (or find the entrance to another trial?).

Actually:
Ling Qi released the younger spirit as if burned and hastily stood up to offer a respectful bow, scrabbling for memory of talks with Bai Meizhen. "Of course, honored guardian of the peak," she nearly tripped over the words. "I apologize for the trespass, and meant no offense."
It was not impossible to screw this up diplomatically. Fortunately experience with Meizhen and Cui helped?

Regardless of which way you vote for next, we should all sub-vote to switch out our Hawk Talon Armguards for the new Blizzard Pin.

@veekie Every day, I thank the thread for choosing Meizhen as our housemate and Meizhen for teaching us politics and occult lessons out of the blue (I'm pretty sure we didn't even spend an action on it; she just decided to do it on her own).

I'm hoping they didn't do that because their only advantage is in the numbers that they can bring. My thought is that they found out where we started climbing the mountain, figured that we will come back that way, and are moving up that side of the mountain in order to get to a good ambush point. It is a lot easier to follow someone when you know their starting and ending locations.

If they did decide to comb the whole mountain, then they are in serious need of their leader doing remedial tactical lessons. Since we are operating under the assumption that they want to ambush us, the best way would be to do it as a group and not one on one. They know we are at least early yellow/silver, and so really only Kang has a chance at dealing with us one on one. However, he would probably be waiting back until the actual fight begins in order to allow his underlings the chance to wear us down. That's not possible if they are all split up trying to comb the entire mountain.

We still have a good Qi reserve so I don't feel too bad about taking another path. I am tempted by the tunnel, but I'm worried about people specced directly against our build.

Well, yes that is true. But if we were in Ji Rong's position we either wouldn't have had the ability to get the advice or would not have listened to the instructions if we had received them. We have learned how to be polite and we are actively attempting to use those lessons rather than disregard them.

- [X] Switch the Armguards for the Blizzard Pin.

I was going to go with Retrace Steps due to the fact that we already know a path there and it'd be safer to use known terrain when going down an icy mountain in a snowstorm, however finding a new path properly satisfies all the other goals I wanted anyway.
Those being

- Get Beast Cores by defeating beasts so we can feed Lil' Turtle
- Find cool new stuff on the mountain we can monopolize (partially satisfied by meeting with spirits anyway)
- Avoid ambushers (roll of the dice anyway, but potentially safer this way)

Closing the path behind us is probably a hint that we won't be protected on the way down, rather than one that we aren't welcome to take the same path, but no reason to push our luck, especially when we didn't see anything interesting on the way up other than beasts.

tl;dr Free extra exploration action? heck yea. Beast Cores? heck yea.

Edit: right right, equipment changes

Which is why I am saying some, not all, and possibly only scouts or recon-type familiars at that.

I'd assume not all of them are willing to scour the mountains, especially with a storm clearly brewing on the top, so they might be waiting near the entrance of the tunnel now, ready to move if one of the scouts or familiars scouring the foot of the mountain notices Ling Qi, knowing that the Moonfill scheduled harvest time might have passed and if somehow she did go up, she still have to come down.

But, I am rather paranoid.
