Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Annoying as it would be, we can afford to fail the mission here. It would cost us 10 sect points, but that isn't going to break us - and it isn't like sticking around can't give us any rewards. I assume that if we can't make it in time for the moonfill we would spend our time hunting and/or looking around for locations, which honestly isn't a bad use of our time.

Meizhen will be so frustrated/bemused when she hears that this time we went on a ordinary sect mission and acquired a 2nd stage spirit by playing tag.

Huh. I would not have expected perception tests to be spiritual instead of physical, but thanks for answering.
Perception is Wits+ Composure, and Spiritual seems to govern mental and social attributes.

That does remind me to ask though, @yrsillar, in the case of a phsyical/spiritual art that is used in a clash, is it the lowest or highest cultivation level used? I am asking both for SCS and AM, as AM also seems to be physical/spiritual, though that's not confirmed.

Also, would we need to use a specific techniques in the case it's highest, or would just having an applicable passive apply? Say, if AM is spiritual/physical, and we get a Composure or a Resolve test, would it automatically be physical currently, while we would need to use Discerning Gaze for a perception test to be physical?

[X] Offer to show her something interesting if she lets you through. Take her to the glade.

While definitely riskier than the Tag choice, it's also the highest reward choice by far. Not only "The blood of the covenant is stronger than the water of the womb" and all that, but it also means we will be able to do significantly better at the glade with her help.

I'm just not seeing the tag choice getting us that much closer, though definitely a bit better than food choice.

[X] Accept, surely it couldn't be that hard to catch her a couple of times, and resolve this without trouble

Ah whatever, I wasn't particularly attached to my previous vote.

We can't bind her though, since we can only bind Grade 1 Spirit beasts at present (what is the requirement for binding Grade 2 beasts anyway? Meizhen's Yellow and she can bind Cui, who is a Grade 2 Beast). This means that while we could probably befriend and meet with her from time to time, Until we get stronger we're not getting her as a spirit.

Sure, that's the setup for the attributes... but this implies that silver physique doesn't improve your eyesight, hearing, and so forth in any meaningful way, which I find more than a bit strange. The ability to perceive things effectively is rooted in the performance of the body, as anyone who wears glasses can tell you. Sure, the mind is important for processing what you perceive and reacting appropriately, picking up on what details matter and so forth, but it's completely useless if you can't gather the information in the first place.

Considering that the written description involved catching glimpses and hearing laughter, well...

No matter. We just know moving forward that spiritual cultivation runs perception checks, not physical cultivation.

-[x] whenever you do, tickle her till she submits. And then just keep on it till she begs for MERCY.

Yeah, obviously system isn't perfect representation wise.

Which cultivation gets used depends on the actions being taken so dodging a physical attack with SCS will proc off physical . It's generally on a case by case basis though. Mirror is a spiritual art though.

The difference being cui has been with her the longest and is her cousin . There might be some requirement she meets that let's her bind cui or since she came to the sect yellow already.

Same thing with Han , might have an easier time binding spirits that are relatives even if they are high ranking.

She wouldn;t have any allies with her this time,
wouldn't

even if she couldn't quite bring herself to attack aht she could now clearly see
that

but Ling Qi wasn;t entirely sure if fighting was the best choice here
wasn't

she didn't think the spirit was lying about having a parent, or this being it's territory.

@yrsillar can we do something like this:

[X] Say that you have something you need to do right now, but that you'll play with her on your way back down if she lets you through.

She doesn't have any reason to trust us, it's most likely going to result in her getting mad that we're trying to trick her. She might think we're trying to get her off our back and take another path back.

Yeah though, this might be a delay, but we've generally made good time so far, and not rocking the boat among the local Big Spirits is probably a wise idea. We'd actually be pretty good at tag.

Nah. We seem to have a bonus to spirit interactions. That should be enough for a sheltered child to trust us.

If we truly have a bonus to spirit interaction then we need to milk it instead. That means going to the glade.

And If she is trying to entrap us into some kind of games, it's also safer to take her away as usually you do not want to let a spirit choose the rules of a game.

[X] Try to bribe the child spirit with food

I think this is the safest choice. We obviously can't ignore her or knock her out. Bringing her to the glade might have her conflict with other spirits and get hurt. And if we play a game of tag with her and win, she may get angry at us because she seems like the kind of child who would hate to lose. I mean, she's blaming us for hitting her when she's the one who started messing with us in the first place. This does not sound like a particularly reasonable or terribly good natured child to me.

The problem with the glade is that the nectar is supposed to be 'irresistible' to spirits.

While I'm hopeful that momma Hanyi is too big a name to be wandering around searching for the spiritual catnip, I don't think she'd be pleased if we a) got her daughter hooked or b) had to beat her daughter up to keep her from taking it.

She's already annoyed at us though for dinging her.
She's a little kid. They're pretty easy to distract. Heck, give them a comic book and they'll forget that they've broken something.

How does taking her to the glade help us? If this is delicate work, she's more likely to get in the way than anything.

Little kid, not some centuries old super-predator.

That's true. I guess it's better to get into a conflict with her right now than to get into a stronger conflict over the nectar, though given how close her house is to it I wouldn't be surprised if her mom already uses it every so often.

She isn't a kid. She's a spirit, and a yellow/silver one. She might be a young spirit, but millenia-old spirits taking kid faces is a staple for a reason. While 'Playing Tag' is probably not a awful choice, it is playing to a spirit's rules and assuming she is what she looks like, when we know she is a spirit that emphasises stealth and playing tricks.

Flooff! (I hope)
