But even with only one physical cultivation action action this turn, we should still finish it off next turn as long as we run a pill turn/closed door.
 
On another note, I'm so glad we fell in with Han Jian and Co. and that we're committed to maintaining the relationship. That hunt action is going to be so good for us in terms of training the skills we'll need for a bunch of the Sect jobs.
 
So with the armour penetration (which is kinda what we need) and the possibility of it benefitting from the ranged bonus, is anyone interested in trying spears next?

No it won't, we don't need a second Spine Meridian until we actually master SCS, and I don't see that happening with one roll.

Arrows can be rigged for armor penetration instead, what they can't do is help you clear chaff.

ZB, which seems compatible with bows, has specific techniques for clearing the area around us. Clearing chaff will always be a function of the art, not the weapon, and we've seen effects that do this on arts specifically for ranged weapons.

Am I correct in saying that the only differences between my plan and Plan Haitei are:
  1. the last minor action (talking to Li Suyin vs Have a girls day out)
  2. Using a Channel Cleansing pill
Or were there more differences I missed?

There will also be some arts that provide armor penetration, but finding a none qi intensive way to deal with multiple combatants may be more difficult. Also, enchanting something with armor piercing should be possible, but the Guandao's natural abilities seem a little weird to find an enchantment for.

Yeah, they're very similar—I was considering putting yours but I'm not up to date on the meridian math. Is the Channel Cleansing needed for a margin of error on the meridian?

In that case, a couple of questions.
First, do people think that a channel-clearing pill is worth using with one meridian action? If not, I can remove it. That said, it feels like we can generally "trade" an action for 8 sect points (plus experience and possibly cores but also plus risk, so I'll just stick to the 8 points), which IIRC is 40 red stones. Conversely, an action cultivating typically gets us anywhere from 20-40 dice, depending on what we are training and what drugs we are using at the time. So I think that a red stone is somewhat less valuable than a die, which means 2 stones for 3 dice is a decent trade.


Second, why are people voting against taking the Li Suyin action? I'd have thought that it would be a priority.
 
I think we need 14 successes to open it up. We have a talent of 6, AS 5 = 7, 10 from stones. That equals about 23 dice for an average of 12 success. We then have +2 auto successes from our permanent bonuses, and so that should be 14 success.

We should have enough to safely open it, because I'm also discounting the rerolls on ones.

Our next meridian is 13, not 14, so it's safer than you think. We also get +2 from Suyin.

Edit: 'Suyin can wait' is basically how we always end up with her in trouble :(

I like being Suyin's big sis :(
 
Can I just say how glad I am so many people are taking the massive agitation for Arm arts seriously :V

I mean, it's not like there wasn't a massive populist movement that was only narrowly defeated or anything. Or that a fair amount of it's opposition promised arm arts this week.

It's just a microcosm of why people so vehemently fought for the arm art regardless of its efficiency.

I'm not even particularly angry, it's just disappointing that it looks like only a few plans even bother grabbing the needed meridians. I get that needs must, and I can see the need to get some funds and do Moonfill but it's just frustrating.

I would note the wind sabers from... Zhu Fong? Yes, the boy Zhu. His sabers already has a ranged slash kind of enchantment, so I purport that spatial enhancement are not that impossible to find.

Ideas for spatial enhancement:
- Impact weapon, causes an AoE effect when hitting a target
- Wind pressure weapon, either extending range or widening affected area
- Clone weapons, creates short lived clones with a lower momentum when used

Funny about Arm Arts....

Ling Qi: "Finally! Time to look for some blasting Art! Come to momma~"
Random Red Messenger: "Um, Miss Ling Qi? Gan Guangli is offering an invitation for a spar..."
Ling Qi: +explodes in stuttering and stammering+

Anyway, Su Ling might know about contacting the Pavilion about kilns... Also, again, she experiments with her own elixirs, and considering the costs at the shop.
 
So... I know new SLs are scary, but are there any plans that talk to Su Ling about beast cores AND hunting? Not to be mercenary, but political lessons from Han Jian or shoe shopping and etiquette lessons from Mei and Gu do not keep us in pills to cultivate with. We need sect jobs, and she's been doing them unofficially for months now.

She might be a bit standoffish and coarse, but she's really our best bet for getting good at these hunting missions. I don't mean to disparage Han Jian and his group, but I foresee four nobles from the desert with touchy tempers traipsing through a mountain forest as a disaster in the making. Even in an ideal situation, any non-location based reward will have to be split five ways.

It has EPC cultivation, and reasonable selection of various other actions. Although given how out of it Ling Qi can be while cultivating I'm uncertain whether, or not cultivating physical while she is supposed to be hunting hunting is a wise decision.

Big Sis not babysitter plus spending time bonding over killing a man-eating monster kills too birds with one stone, bonding time and netting us sweeeeeet loot and Sect Points to keep us stocked in stones, pills and cores.

I don't think my plan is making Suyin wait. It's taking her out and giving her experience in an environment where she'll have the help of both us and Su Ling. Let's her fight with training wheels and gives her a taste of what she wants to do.
