if this were the case, then the Harlequin's could have just declared them a protectorate and shielded them from the possibility of harm. the Harlequin's are great, but we started helping them turn 1, and we only gained a chance to avoid having it out with Beil-Tan when we triggered the Aeldmoot. it takes more than just them to reign in the radical murder happy conservatives.
 
i am somewhat baffled people think them believing us matters. so long as they are not too stupid to live they are going to fact check us no matter what we do at which point they are going to find the same shit we did. I feel it is telling that nothing mechanis has written implies that any one is going to think we are lying and there have been no options that mention anything about us getting evidence or anything like that.

No chance of winning but I'd prefer not rub our political position in this time. We certainly can, we've got enough bargaining chips to afford that, so I don't think the winning plan is bad, but yeah.
It's a thanksgiving dinner with a racist uncle present, but the family is mafia, and you're in a turf war with a stronger mafia and uncle's got a quarter of family's guns under him.

There's a difference between a general policy frowning upon kinslaying and the protection they could offer us as "one of the factions willing to play ball" and the stance that we're in the top five favorite list of the last free god of the Eldar and the protection they could offer the guys just brought the biggest informational advantage in the history of our species since the War in Heaven.
