No, it's (almost) all the books. The magical books are just the primary thing that we don't currently have access to that we would be getting as a result of the vote, since so much of it is military-relevant, which is why the focus is on them (especially since they're also the most narratively interesting -- it's unlikely that the Eonir's Cooking +5 is going to matter any time in the quest, but people have already posted extensively about how their stuff about Sevir or the Old Ones or Elementalism might be the sort of thing that Mathilde reads onscreen, so from a quester perspective they're the most relevant books when deciding if this is something we want or not).

Yeah I feel like there's quite a few people that were misled by the leading Book vote's write-in specifying "magic books" because at first glance that just makes it sound like we're only getting magic books, instead of basically the ENTIRE CORPUS of a millennia old library.

It would've been more appealing to vote if it just said "Library of Mournings book collection" or something

I'd been hoping Boney would do the thing where he adds some write-ins to the main post before the vote open for that reason, yeah. The book write-ins really undersell what we're getting, and I strongly suspect that it's suffered for it.

Talking about that would it also include their Divine Books? Cause if we get them I can see Mathilde reading about them on-screen.

Absolutely. Those aren't under any restriction, because the way that human cults manage texts on divinity is very different from the way that elves do things. We've already bought tons of them all the way up to Extensive/Esoteric with zero issue.

In fairness to the OP of the current leading book vote, the book lobby had an entire thirty hours to put together a write-in text to represent its selling points and didn't, so whoever was first to write it in needed to fly solo on that. Personally, I don't think the wording has had a big impact, but it's hard to argue a counterfactual.

It's not too late to start a new version of the write-in climbing via the magic of approval voting, if you really think it will make a difference. It might make tallying slightly more annoying, but combining three things isn't much of a bigger deal than combining two things.

I think the text should be simple, and make clear that we don't have to send our own scribes and that it does include restricted texts. Making it seem more than a tall tale would be difficult for someone who drops in and out of the thread, but fortunately many formatting features will be carried over from the first instance of a vote in the tallier even if future votes do not contain that formatting, so I can just do this:

[X] [ITHILMAR] A copy of the Library of Mournings, including most restricted texts.

And keeping my approvals, of course.

EDIT: Surprisingly, my wording of the write-in isn't actually that far off from being the most used version now. May as well give it an extra kick.

That makes sense, and it's probably fine overall, honestly - you've spoken before on how Apprentices are expected to mess up in minor ways, and to gain experience from their mistakes. Eike may have less life experience overall than Mathilde but she should be able to do a handful of those things about as good or better.

Mathilde is making enough dosh from this ithilmar deal to reimburse the EIC for all expenses and opportunity costs while still having plenty leftover to pick whatever reward we decide on. There isn't any concern of needing to pay anything out of pocket, it's all expenses cleared + vote on extra profit.

Though, uh, @AsuraAtlas - the tallier uses the formatting from the earliest post with a copy of the vote, which is now yours since you edited an early post to add it in. If you could edit the link back into your post so the tallier has the link again, that'd be appreciated.

EDIT: Thanks! I've also arranged to have the formatting set near the start of the voting period, so there shouldn't be any future problems with people editing their votes.

I'm sorry for the wording of my write-in being misleading. I didn't see anyone else make one, so I fired it off at the hip right before the vote opened. This is a much better write-in, and I've edited it into my earlier vote-post.

Wasn't full library access mentioned as a possible reward from the full waystone project.

I remember something like that, although this isn't even just full access. It seems to outright getting a copy (aka, not having to copy it ourselves) of their library, which seems to be quite a few steps up from just Mathilde getting full access.
