The problem with the Inline is that it takes internal space, and that was the whole benefit of taking Full Saucer.
The internal space is to stuff full of SCIENCE. And this may be Trek heresy but. . . the deflector doesn't make us any better at science.Or to use a different analogy, you buy a bigger bag so you get more space. But you dont want to put more stuff in because... you dont want to lose that extra space. What?
To continue the metaphor, I at least would like to put something else in that space (more science) which requires that the extra space not be used up and lost until the point where we can put that in, if that phrasing makes sense?Or to use a different analogy, you buy a bigger bag so you get more space. But you dont want to put more stuff in because... you dont want to lose that extra space. What?

Quoting that post is disingenuous, I later go onto to say that I want to use the extra space for more science and not a deflector.Well, yes? The point of getting more internal space is so we can use that internal space.
And getting inline is USING THAT INTERNAL SPACE.
One could argue that this is exactly why we took ful saucer to begin with. To take an option that actually takes advantage of the internal space.

As mentioned, the general argument is that the stuff we want to use the extra room for is things like science labs and, I will definitely argue for, at least a basic engineering boost (science and engineering being in a fairly committed relationship); that said I will change to inline in a heartbeat if it's a requirement to do something unusual with the nacelles, because I really want to do that.Well, yes? The point of getting more internal space is so we can use that internal space.

It was in the next post I made.
Yeah, I originally chose those words when I thought it had been clarified in the same post, when I went back to check and realized I hadn't I just didn't change the wording and probably should have. It's all good, no hurt feelings here lol.Clarifying it in your next comment is fair. Quoting it, however, is not disingenious. It's your quote. It's up to you to clarify your point, and while you did so as you mentioned, it was, as you also said, in another comment. One I havent read. Which takes us to another point, nobody's really expected to keep track of all your comments, not even me. So while it's not exactly your fault, it's not mine either.
Edit: On the off chance I sound snarky or something, im not. Would def have been more proper to see all the comments and exchanges to fully understand the convo, it's also not really a requirement for readers. Hence why i said nobody's really at fault.
