[X] "No, I speak no lies, I was examining the area and found a group of cattle here unattended, this seemed strange and uncanny given their quality, so I came to investigate with my kin and allies to determine if they had an owner who needed to be informed that they had gotten lost. We came with greeting gifts not intent to be thieves, though it would be a fool to travel in these troubled times unarmed."

Bit of a typo fix here, but "though it would be a fool to travel" should be something like "though it would be foolish to travel" or "though it would take a fool to travel"

Feels like a good opening. Hopefully the owner of the herd is just some weird wizard trying to start a fight and not another Jotunn or something.

it presents what Vidarr did as acceptable, thats my biggest issue. and bringing Farbjorn like this is likely to spark Abjorn inferiority complex about him
You've gotta remember that we're operating within the Norse cultural framework here. The problem clearly isn't that Abjorn might think what Vidarr did was right, it's that Abjorn needs to be able to somehow process the idea "I am not specifically a bad person for being glad Vidarr is gone" within the framework of the ideas available to him.
Ties of blood are not meaningless to the Norse, and things the Norse cultural framework tells them to value have actual significance in objective reality because of how things like orthstirr and nid work.
EDIT: Rolled one too many dice accidentally. Removing that last 5, that's 12 successes, plus bonuses for things like First Impression. Not ridiculous, but not bad.

Knowing that you've got a bare handful of seconds before violence erupts, you step forward boldly and proclaim your innocence before all who would hear it, "I speak no lies! I was examining the area and found a group of cattle left unattended! Given their obvious quality, this seemed strange to me so I came to investigate with my allies and kin to determine if they had an owner who could reward us for a deed well done! We even brought gifts!"
Waving a hand at Abjorn, you gesture at the bundle of gifts under his arm as the voice seems to take a moment to ponder this. Silver-Tongue: 12 Successes
"I'll accept your words for what they are, but don't think that clears your name!" The voice thunders again. "That still doesn't explain why you felt the need to bring a hagstone! After all, a vittra's herd is always invisible. To bring a hagstone is a sure sign you mean trouble!"
For some reason, you get the feeling that you're talking to someone younger than yourself. You're not sure why, exactly, you feel this way, it's just your intuition picking up on cues that you yourself fail to see.
What do you do?

No moratorium, but this'll be the last update for today.
I am new to this quest, and haven't read everything yet.
Is saying we always carry a hag stone in character? Cause always having a hag stone just sounds like common sense

We just got it, so no. We may well do so in the future, but it'd be a tad disingenuous right now, I think? Not technically a lie if we don't claim we've always done so, but just...not 100% accurate.
My thought on what to say:
[X] "I didn't bring the hag stone for the herd, I had no idea they belonged to a vittra or that they were invisible. I don't even know why I can see them when nobody else can. I brought the stone to try and find their owner since I saw only the cattle themselves. Maybe something weird is going on with either my magic or yours? I can't see you, but can see the herd."
This brings up the weirdness. Why can we see the herd but not their owner? What's going on here? Presenting a mystery for us to solve together might help, especially if it's a kid.
Let you see through illusions when you look through them. Weirdly, we do not need one to see the herd, though we can't see who we're talking to and other people do need it to see both them and the herd.
