Is it frenzy related, I wonder? What with it being a bonus for beating a berserker who is pretty high, power wise, even without Odr, and berserkergang is being a last resort of the "fuck it, WE are going down together" variety....

On that note, a reminder that he will always have shapeshifts that best fits the situation, not just DR....
So, expect more speed and strength as well, that can slide from turn to turn.

Hm.... Stupid idea, but is it possible to knock him out of the trance with a calm charge? Berserkergang puts a lot of strain on the body, after all after it's no longer active.

Edit: forgot to vote...

Moonless Night was also a child of Fenrir, who is a child of Loki, who is one of the Aesir by adoption, so it's possible that his cultivation tradition is part of the same lineage as norse cultivation.

Ok went back and checked and he does use orth, though we were shocked he had it so maybe there's something there. Either way I was wrong.

This is not necessarily true. It might be, but it also might not. The ability to tactically position your shapeshifts requires, well, tactics, which seem to not be people in Berserkergang's strong suit. I expect him to have something around 20 shapeshifts, and they might move around or not (well, the shapecrafted ones won't), but even if they do it might not necessarily be in a very tactical way.

This was incredibly epic. And i am eager for more.

The Dark Souls player in me can't refuse to fight the Phase 2 of a Boss, is a matter of principle.

Why the hell would he need tactics when he needs to hit harder or faster?
Seems easy enough, no need for tactics.

Right, but if they don't have tactics, it'll always be based on what they just needed this last turn...meaning we can get them to do bad setups with a little effort. Like, if we can get them to move all their shapeshifts out of damage reduction by turtling for a moment, that's an advantage for us, not a disadvantage.

Like Deadman said, unless you know what your opponent is planning you'll likely only move the slots to what you needed last turn.

Yeah, the ability to move shapeshifts to enable specific plans is amazing. We could put all our shapeshifts into DR before a round where we are charging FTB, for instance, or invest in hitting through someone's absurd DR by putting everything into damage.

But without the ability to plan those things out, it's real easy to get suckered into a distribution that is much better for your opponent than it is for you.

Whatever happens next, we will absolutely gain a lot of Orthstirr and our reputation in the Valley will increase even more.

Assuming we survive, yes.

With both hands, you take hold of your heart's burning strength. Every drop of blood-pumping power writhes between your fingers as you pour it all out into a single attack. All the firepower in your body converges to a single point against your palm as you draw your arm back like a taut bowstring.

As the overhead sun reaches its zenith and your struggling heart finally gives out, your strength finds sure footing on solid ground. Arm snapping forward like a loosed arrow, unbidden words spring from your lips as you lay a fresh name upon this newborn Finale.

Thermic Reckoning!

Twin trails of warmth trickles down the sides of your neck as a constant spray of vision-protecting sparks fall from your eyes. From your enemy-facing palm erupts a house-tall jet of raw, unrefined and completely unregulated heat. There is no sound, for your ears no longer work—such is the sheer level of noise produced by the wall of flash-boiling air.

The beam of super-heated orthstirr streaks across the space in a span of a handful of heartbeats, leaving rippling rings of boiling shock waves in its wake. It isn't so much something you follow visually as it's something you feel, something you experience in the moment and only after its passing do you realize what happened.

Still, to his credit, despite the raw magnitude of the attack, Hooknails tries his best to defend himself. With less then a heartbeat before the beam reaches him, he crosses his arms before his slack-jawed face as he prepares to meet his forefathers.

We really did straight-up hit him with a Kamehameha. Incredible.

The blast swallows him whole as it carries on into the now-darkened sky—the light of the beam dwarfing even that of the sun, if only for a scant few seconds. Punching a hole through a dozen stacked clouds, it streaks off into that black eternity, where it will travel on till infinity.

You both forgot he will have frenzy.
Even if he hadn't, it's not like he is blind or passive to just respond to what we did last turn.
And even animals can plan ahead even if not as complexly as humans.
