Do we want to put runes on the clothing?

We can't. Not magical ones, anyway. Runes need to be inset in a surface and filled with liquid, remember. Doesn't work with clothes.

I agree that its not as urgent, but when we do take care of the underhouse what are we intending to do with it

Probably a backup base/storage location. Specifically, something to use as a panic room in case of something like people invading the Valley and we want to store the kids somewhere safe.

Last question, can we try feed Odr to Sagaseeker?

We could in theory. In practice I'm a little leery.

Or go ask our friendly ducklings about it?

I went this route since we need to talk with them about buying some additional magic iron anyway.

Do we want to put runes on the clothing?

I would be okay with that, maybe something that enhances Halla beauty or makes them more resistent to damage?

(Journal Entry Added: Underhouse Swaddle)
(3 pots of a strange substance added to your inventory)
(The Underhouse is now available for your use, should you so desire it)

We could turn the Underhouse in an emergency shelter for the War arc, were our non-combatants can hide during the invasion.

Sadly no. The clothing is one action all on its own (with the armor and training item sharing the other), we only get doubled crafting per action on smithing. Which, after the clothing, will be the only crafting we do for a while, but it doesn't work to get a new wardrobe.

The fact that they were formatted and numbered as separate actions threw me off.

Also how are the training item and the armour sharing an action when we're doing two bits of armour? Do the armour and helmet count as a single item or something?

Sorry about that, I think keeping each project as a separate listing is better organizationally, and it'll almost all be even numbers of smithing projects going forward.

They do! Sets of Paired Weapons designed to go together and Helmet + Armor combos were stated as one project each even before the Cindersoot bonus.

Eh... 3 crafting a turn?
I would rather just ask Asva to make the cloths for us and use the opportunity to talk with her about other stuff too

If we're talking to Asva (and I do want to do so, I have it penciled in for next turn), I'd rather not be asking her favors like that, I think (my current plan is to do a knowledge swap, her homemaking magical stuff for as much in the way of medical Tricks seidr as we can cram into her...if she and Jordan are headed for the Danelaw we want her to have the full medical kit). There's a self-sufficiency factor there in regards to our own stuff that I think is important? I could maybe be convinced if people would prefer to talk to her this turn and throw in asking for new clothes. We did give her the super-weaving tools, after all, but on the other hand making our own clothes is kind of A Thing culturally, I think.

I guess it depends...@Imperial Fister would that be a weird thing to ask Asva about, and what's the cultural expectation in regard to making one's own clothing for a woman?

Hm... Ask sten? Or do we have more pressing matters for his advice?

Already edited in just a few minutes before you posted actually. Shard brought it up in Discord.

On another topic entirely, Stigmar has a Clay Hugareida now. That's neat. Hopefully that will help him make the jump to Upper Middle in combat, which would be good for him.

Speaking of our retainers in general, @Imperial Fister are any of them actually gonna get married any time soon? Age-wise it seems like they'd be at least trending in that direction (okay, maybe not Tryggr)...do we know if any of them are interested in anyone?

If anything their successful mercenary work/trading journey should help their chances of getting married. We should probably go looking for more karls to work on our farm.

We should take 1 turn to spar with all our huskarls and then talk with them abaout marriage and setting down, so we get both their character sheets and their ideas on marriage in one go.

Who knows, maybe Stigmar will go back in Wessex searching for that potter girl he seemed so fond off and ask her hand in marriage?

Yup. Or paired weapons like Tryggr's or our own planned Sword + Sax combo. Very nice.

I'm actually wondering about that - we should hold off on the sword + sax thing until we've had a chance to poke around with the mysterious ice sword. If it turns out we can befriend the spirit inside, then we could reforge Ashen Kiss, and use it and the ice sword. Completely speculative right now, of course, but worth thinking about!

guess that makes sense, but is there any other way to enhance them? same for the makeup. having such a high craft and just getting nice clothes out of it seems a bit wasteful

probably, but the space seems rather large. we can do more than just storage and shelter there.

maybe we can ask the Ducklings for advice on that one too? what is a good thing to do with the underhouse? its location and former purpose might provide benefits perhaps

Doesn't actually save an action. Getting the sword is free, action-wise, as long as we're gonna reforge Ashen Kiss anyway (and, IMO, we are).

We'll see what IF says about the idea of having Asva do it. If that doesn't work we could include making a new Gambeson as part of it? That should be part of the same action, probably, and might be relevant at some point.

I mean...those are just where dwarves live. It's a house.

what about using bone ash for make up? perhaps it can grant it special properties? and can Seidr spells be cast on clothes perhaps?

true, but its a house for thirty dwarves and has facilities like storage room and maybe a workshop. so its pretty big
and while its a house, it can be used for cultivation so it has to have some significance. plus being underground, by itself could matter, and the dwarves might have certain techniques in construction too, like runes for buildings
Do we share the seeds we got from the trip with Steinarr?
he's a really good farmer and he travelled far so it might be worth it to show him the seeds and get his advice on them, see if he can identify them or tell us anything on their properties/what they need to grow best

I don't think any of that would be part of the same action.

It's big, but that doesn't change its function. All the rest of that is stuff the dwarves will charge for...so we can see as part of the planned trade deal.

Fair. I'll add asking his advice on them.

I was just making general suggestions. anything but runes is likely to be added later, but all of these are interesting things to look into when we can

its big so we can do more with it then just a panic room. we can have one room for shelter/living space, one for storage. but its big enough we can do more with it

I mean, we'd ideally want shelter for, like, 15-20 people (all the kids and noncombatants at our place and Steinarr's and maybe one or two others) and some livestock. And storage to feed all of those folks for some time. That's a lot of room needed.

If they stay underground for a long time should we teach someone Unending Time in the Sun? so they can avoid the side effects of staying underground?
