Half an ounce cheaper

Sweet, that's be 4 and 1/2 oz. silver per 8 oz. Forged Iron. We definitely want to buy at least Forged Iron for ourselves here...I dunno about trade. There probably isn't enough room in our hull to make a meaningful profit, and we'd be stealing business from the blacksmith at home unless we sold it to them which would make the profit margins even narrower (as we'd have to sell it for only a little more than we bought it for).

We could bring back more than the 'personal use' amount, but only by a bit, and the profit of 2400 oz. (which costs 1350 oz. silver to acquire, so we can but three times that at most) is only 75 oz. silver if we sell it to the blacksmith for 4 and 3/4 oz. And they might be annoyed. So we'd make 150 oz. of silver if the blacksmith paid us and have to risk being broke if nobody wants it. Yeah, personal use it is:

Alright, so, that's my plan, I guess:

[X] Yes
-[X] Buy 2400 oz. Forged Iron (Cost 1350 oz. silver)
-[X] Sell 110 Water wolf Pelts (Gain 385 oz. silver)

That's about as much as we need any time soon, I think. even with Plate Armor experiments in the offing. Over half of that is needed for armor for our retainers, but that leaves a substantial amount of iron left over, and we have a constant drip coming in every year (144 oz.) from the Dwarves.

EDIT: Added selling most of the Water Wolf Pelts.

Trying to re-contextualize Ignition
You frown as you try once again to 'lengthen' your Ignition. Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, you grow now closer to understanding how you'd do that.

However, it seems as though something is happening when you try to do it. Perhaps you're missing something or doing it incorrectly?
Hey Halla, did you try using the Ignition you were trying to recontextualize in a freeform way or with your existing tricks to see in what ways it was different?

I think we can go with less Forged Iron here honestly, and count on the Dwarfdrip to make up the difference.

Can we sell the wolf pelts here, @DeadmanwalkingXI , @Alectai ?

Oh! Excellent question!

@Imperial Fister how much would the wolf pelts go for here?

We're gonna be using 1100 or so just on Tryggr and Trausti. If we want to have an actual stockpile we need to go high-ish. I could be convinced to tone it down a bit to 2000, though. I'll go do that, actually. EDIT: And done.

I'll say, oh, 9oz silver each

Goddamn. Well. We definitely sell most of those then. That's over 1000 oz. silver if we sell them all. Do we want to keep any for our own crafting? I think we probably do, honestly. I'm gonna suggest we keep 6 and sell the other 110 for 990 oz. silver and add that to my vote. Maybe go back up to 2400 oz. Forged Iron given that if we recruit additional people they may need mail.

EDIT: Changed my vote to that.

Ope, that's too much per pelt money. Dip that down to 3 1/2. That's fair, right?

Basically, Halla learned how to overdrive her Stoker State engine on command. It came out even better than my Galaxy Brain thought
Well, it damn near gave her a heart attack (possibly it did, with Norsewomen it's hard to tell), so I think we need to be pretty frickin' careful how we use that thing. Seems dangerously overspecialized for "this will absolutely end this fight" situations. Am I missing something here?

Halla used the Vague version of it and, in the following days, refined it to what it's at now

Hey Halla/Blackhand,

1) Could I have a more indepth explanation on what happens and what you do when you Alloy Martial Styles or Hugareidas together?
2) Do you have any insight whatsoever on what exactly was happening when you tried to recontextualize your Ignition?
3) In your own words, why don't you lose access to the component Hugareida of an Alloy when you alloy them?
4) Should you be able to fill your Alloys slots with 'copies' of a Hugareida you already have? Or copies with different bonuses?
5) What exactly are you doing when you 'reassign' your Hugareida bonuses from dice to damage to instances? Are you actually expressing it differently?
6) Is there a commonality to all your Hugareidas when you try and 'access' them?

We need presents for people at home. Look around for suitable gifts.

Edit: We now have a Face (Halla), a Hitter (Abjorn) and a Wheelman (Vagn). Who else will be joining us in our inevitable heist movie?

When things are Alloyed, they follow the natural logical connection that Halla makes between them mentally. Water is Boiled by Fire and so on and so forth. In order to Alloy, Halla takes her understandings of two things and finds the commonalities and connections between them and, after mentally 'aligning', they fit together like puzzle pieces.
2) Do you have any insight whatsoever on what exactly was happening when you tried to recontextualize your Ignition?
You were looking for things to connect with and commonalities in something that wasn't there.
3) In your own words, why don't you lose access to the component Hugareida of an Alloy when you alloy them?
You don't lose fire when you take a torch from it. You don't lose water when you pour some into a pot. Memory is forever, why would this change that?
4) Should you be able to fill your Alloys slots with 'copies' of a Hugareida you already have? Or copies with different bonuses?
Halla does not understand and dismisses the intrusive thought
5) What exactly are you doing when you 'reassign' your Hugareida bonuses from dice to damage to instances? Are you actually expressing it differently?
Dice increases the precision with which Halla can control it, Damage increases the power Halla can wield, Instances increases the amount of raw hugareida substance (that is, orthstirr that has been used to fuel hugareida) that Halla can wield at once, which allows her to do multiple things at once.
6) Is there a commonality to all your Hugareidas when you try and 'access' them?
Each hugareida is different, but all come from your memories and experiences

This number is now wrong for how much we get for the Water Wolf pelts with IF's correction. Should be 385. I've adjusted my vote accordingly.

Fixed.

Interesting, we should try to create more Alloys when we can.

You were looking for things to connect with and commonalities in something that wasn't there.

Sounds like we need to combine it with something. Next up on the list to try (in no particular order):

1. Ignition + Unending Time In The Sun and/or Banish the Night to try and get Sunfire (Hugareida + Spell/Muna)
2. Ignition and/or Standstill with Stoker State to see if we get come reciprocal bonuses. (Hugareida + Martial Style)
3. Punching Up + Puncture to see what that does (Twist + Twist)
4. Banish the Night + Fight Of Your Life (Muna + Muna)
5. Banish the Night + Puncture (Muna + Twist)

Twist + Martial Style, Twist + Hugareida, and Muna + Martial Style are also on the list, but I have fewer immediately interesting ideas.

So, this saves us an action I think Deadman? Buying the Forged Iron here?

We probably could've picked it up in Asvir on our way back. On the other hand it saves us 150 oz. of silver and let us unload the Water wolf pelts, so definitely a net gain.

Other Alloy ideas brought up by KreenWarrior on discord: Hugareida + Hamr for maybe elemental shapeshifts, Hugareida + Frenzy for...something?

Great!

This won't last us forever, but it should get us through our immediate obligations at least, which is the important part!

Given our constant iron drip from the ongoing deal it actually might last us quite a while barring the need to make mail for too many people. We'll need to buy a bunch more when we start armoring up the kids, assuming we reach that point.
