Also, it might have come up before, but can we use the Hone trick out of combat for more Management Dice/Housecraft, etc?

I'd think it would've been mentioned if so...my impression is that Hone is momentary, so while it would help a roll to, like, fell a tree, using it on anything taking more than a minute or two gets prodigiously expensive to the point of being unusable very quickly. But I've certainly been wrong before.

@Imperial Fister can we in fact use Hone on crafting checks or similar things?

Those raiders at halfdan's farm were trying to make him go berserk, do you think that strong enough emotions while your Aspects are Stoked can open the Gate on accident?

Hmm, I wonder why that plant showed up then and there right now? It's a bit suspect that as soon as we got some odr, the heartplant showed up in our father's field.

....Oh my god we're cultivators.

Yes.

I said that when the discovery was made.

I don't think so, we've stoked our Aspects in tandem before and found ourselves with no ill effects. It's only Stoking your Aspects while in a state of rest that seems to trigger the internal resonance.

In a state of rest.. with full Orthsirr.

I wonder if it might be beneficial to try and weaken our Frami prior to melding with Virthing and Saemd. If our Frami 'rubs out' before Virthing and Saemd, it might be possible to regain consciousness before Virthing and Saemd unravel.

We can put that on the table of "Things to try", but that's a guaranteed chance of getting another Potential Death Outcome if we're wrong about that. Probably beneath things like "Figure out how to wake yourself up before your Aspects wear out" or "Try to hypnotize yourself into doing a specific thing and then waking up afterwards"

Dividing your mind is a classic xianxia trope. Wonder if we could do that with enough huge, letting one part of our mind open/close the Gate and another part harvest odr? Basically what Hallr did, but not relying on plot armor.

[X] Gather your kin and kith and go hunt down the source of this evil
-[X] Bring Abjorn, Gabriel, and the Brothers Stig with you and Sten. Offer an invitation to Aki to come along--you got a good example of how helpful a strong Fylgja can be during the Raid, and you've never seen someone with better ability given his age--even if all it can contribute is its eyes in the sky and Aki's own cleverness and sensitivity to more esoteric things, it'll be a boon for tracking the source of the Curse quickly. As for yourself... You know your condition well, you'll come along and do your best to provide ranged and defensive support with your Hugareida rather than immediately charge in, but you won't rule out taking attacks of opportunity if you think you can tilt the scales safely.
-[X] Send a runner to Halfdan's Farm, ask him to protect your home while you're busy investigating this Curse issue, you don't want to leave anything to chance with this kind of sorcery in play.
-[X] Lay out our backup swords, let Gabriel borrow whichever one he thinks is best.

To the Norse, their world was a magical one. Go out and see more of it.
Yes please!
Yeah, unlocking the deeper secrets of our very soul is cool and all, but have you considered becoming the go to people for high quality livestock, therefore giving all our family members a nice headstart?
Yeah, breeding is good, but doesn't really involve our active participation.

Unless Halla gets to Hamr 7 and Halla&Abjorn shapeshift into Cow&Bull...

(while a joke, I do wonder now what quality level the offspring of 2 shapeshifted cultivators would have)
"Halla and Abjorn have an entire Raid Party of children, and all of them are terrors to face."

Especially if we've cracked enough of Realm 1 by then that we can safely induct everyone into it and have at least the basic stuff sorted out. I don't think Odr Condensation will be ridiculously difficult now that we've survived the initial trap though, not while we've got Hallr doing overwatch for us while we try to find a method that'll work to close the Gate on purpose.

Hah, I halfway expect that Odr Condensation Methods are going to be graded like equipment is, as how many dice you get to roll, with successes generating Odr, up to a limit of your Aspects Ten Digits, and then they become Upgradable like any Attribute or Skill is, with the caveat of being able to teach others your methodology to an extent.
One thingt to consider about who to pass it on when is self control influencing traits.

Wrathfull or upgraded Bloodlust (etc) making the kid do something impulsive could turn to playing hopscotch in a minefield when the actions they can take involve the minefield of norse cultivation.

I mean, chances are good we'll get at least some people who just aren't that stoked about fightan, nothing wrong with our kittens deciding to be fluffy housecats, as long as that's their decision.
Well, bloodlust rolls on 4d6 due to Halla + Abjorn both having it, so odds of a kitten not having Bloodlust is pretty low. Plus wrathful also gets to roll 1d6.

(Though the mechanics pages says '3 chances to be passed on'.)

According to anydice, odds of getting 0 or lower on 4d{-1,1,2} is 18.5%.

Wrathful has lower odds than it looks like there due to it being random whether it gets rolled at all. It probably has about a 1/3 chance of being passed on, total, if we don't lock it out (which we could if we wind up spending more Hamingja on future kids...personally, I don't think it's worth it, but we could).

But yeah, most of them will likely have Bloodlust, though we already have one kid rolled without it (Son #2), so it can certainly happen.

Personally I favor spending a bajillion Hamingja on our 9th child, because:

1. We'll probably have more Boons by then. Stuff like Knightslayer, Jarlsoul..
2. 9 is a lucky number, so our 9th Child may get a special Boon of some sort simply from being our 9th child.
3. We'll, for sure 100%, not have any big Hamingja spending opportunities after the 9th child, since after them we'll probably be planning out how to die in an epic way. And not using Hamingja to avoid that fate.
4. Hamingja = Training Dice!

We could basically fully customize them to the point of rolls not being needed if we go that route.

Even if spending a lot of Hamingja, I favor spending it to lock things in rather than locking them out. And if I was locking things out, Wrathful would not be my first choice.

And also, I want Halla to survive at least 16 years after the birth of any child we intend to make a PC so that we can make sure we train them appropriately and we don't have to go through playing a kid again. That was fun with Halla, but I'm not itching for a repeat of it.

I wonder what improved bloodlust will do, and the fact that she also has the bloody basics it'll be interesting to see what will come about from that. Hmm, I wonder if there is another basics trait we can get by being good at household stuff or magic stuff.
