It's not really Crater, is it?

It's a Well. A unshaped and raw one, but a well, I'm almost sure.

Fits in with myth, a little?

Man, I ain't questioning Alectai again. Nice to see that we're finally taking the first steps on the road to true cultivation, even if we have no idea what Odr really is, or how we can use it. Maybe we can invest it into a stat permanently? Which would free up orthstirr.

I wonder what's up with the Gate, though. Is it some sort of shared phenomenon, or is it a representation of Halla's soul? There's not enough information to say anything concrete, really, just that too much Odr seems to kill a person. Wonder what's up with the Odr behind the door.

Did anyone catch our new Twist? We have a 'don't notice me' field as long as we're wearing rags (and burn the orthstirr). We need to pick up Tracking and Stealth and do some serious stalking of Horra within a year or so after giving birth. I wonder if we can give our Fylgja a rag bandana around their neck and have it work on them? They're better at escaping if needed, after all.

The laughter would be because they look adorable.

Maybe what we're supposed to do is to cycle our Orthsirr into/with our Odr, in order to turn the Orthsirr into our own?

Huh. How'd Stigr's return manifest in a Twist that has us wear rags to hide ourselves? On top of that, is there an actual explanation for what Twists are? Like, I've got the general gist of hugareida, but what are Twists?

If orthstirr is external, and represents your narrative weight in the story... is odr the power of being a protagonist, whose wild, madness-inspired choices cause the narrative to revolve around them?

I'm not sure it was an attack, per se. It got us exactly what we wanted, even though we didn't know what we were doing. The main problem seems to be we were tapping into a source without any way of mediating the flow - a floodgate with no built-in off-switch.
You read my mind. I suspect regulating the flow of such power could be the purpose of the Rosary for Christian cultivators, or at least one of them. Perhaps we'd have a way to know for sure if we had taken the rosary instead of the Bible, but hindsight is always 20-20.

I suspect that Odr is also quite literal in the sense that it is someone's 'soul' on top of that. Like, orthstirr is external - it's not generated by the person, nor is it really theirs. Meanwhile I suspect Odr, on top of coming from someone soul, is something like this. Like, orthstirr is how important you are, but Odr actually gives you the power to make changes/decisions in the story?

Interesting, it looks like Zeal is the Christian equivilant of Odr then. It's similar ideas, but a more extreme variation of their base resource. They also share a certain link to Divinity with them too. Odr is 'Divine Inspiration' while Zeal is "Great Focus on achieving an Objective" while Fervor is just a generic state of Strong Feelings.

Hence why it's "Something Precious." Because presumably, drawing in your 'Qi' Equivilant is slow and methodical if you're doing it properly, Halla just held the gate open until she was about to choke on it because she didn't know better. I notice Problems didn't emerge until her Aspects were exhausted.

So, actually cultivating Odr 'Successfully' requires the ability to take only relatively small portions, while your Aspects last, and being able to shut it off afterwards. Which is a problem because Halla lost consciousness when she Opened the Gate.

It seems safely Opening the Gate requires some way of automating the process so it can carry on even without your direct focus, and shut off before you reach your limit. We were okay because Blackhand was playing overwatch for us, but even then, it was a tight fit.

But we can see from the shape of our Well that we are nowhere near capacity for it. Also, Imperial Fister just said "Congratulations, you're a true Cultivator now", which means that we were actually not even at 'Odr Condensation' yet.

Interestingly, we have 8 Odr, which is our current tens digit of our Aspects--rounded up. But we also started dying while drawing on that last mote.

It seems that the Absolute Limit of Odr Gathering in a single session is 7 motes for us in our current state. Further than that is flirting with death. We got a save on that because of Protagonist Power, but we should assume we won't be so lucky next time. Best I think to stick at half of that as an absolute maximum from a single session, and to develop a mechanism to automate the shutdown.

EDIT: To clarify, I think the limit of Odr Gathering is 10% of your Aspects rounded down, further than that is to court death, but we managed to squeak the eighth mote without dying or suffering because we could round up to it, and Blackhand was able to Close the Gate on our behalf. Still shouldn't be tested though, and we should leave some wiggle room in the future until we've fully developed a reliable shutdown method.

This sounds good to me once she gives birth, I don't think we should do any more Odr gathering until then, though. We can try and figure out how to use it and what to do with it in the meantime, maybe? It's only another turn or two, so not a huge delay in the grand scheme of things.

Agreed, it's unlikely that we'll spend all of that Odr in this stretch anyway, unless we get in a tough fight.

In an emergency, we can try to power a Trick using it though, Firebomb Strike fueled with Odr would probably be something wild
