Can we please not jump to asking Christianity when there is so much norse stuff unexplored? When the whole Seeress line hasn't been opened?

Our smith brother is respected without being a murderer, Seeresses are respected without being murderers.

We're looking for a way to make fundamental changes in our culture and cultivation. Part of doing that is getting insight from people who are of different cultures, or who cultivate differently... and the Christians are the ones who are most readily available.
I for one would rather lose than convert, I joined this quest to be a viking and stuff, im even a bit iffy on dropping raiding. I dont think its a good action but its was part of I felt the quest would include. Im all for reforming it away just not starting on it ight away, i mean we could have gone for Denmark on this, its got to go if we want a Norse unity and our reforms to spread. Cannot reform the Danish if they hate us for raiding their coast.
(underline by me)
STRONGLY implies problematic* context to me.
* problematic if you oppose conversion.
To be clear, I consider "convert to Christianity" as a Bad End.

That doesn't mean that I'm not interested in stealing some stuff from their cultivation techniques, if we can manage it without paying too high a price. It's even possible that we'll get something that might be useful for reforming the culture without too high a price there.

I'm a little skeptical we'll be more likely to run into them again just because we talk to them now. That's not generally how that kind of thing works, IMO. It'll improve their opinion...marginally, but I'd rather have close allies than a bunch of acquaintances.
A reasonable viewpoint, let us let the voters decide. No point in arguing over it any more. It will not matter too much in a few in game years what loot or plan wins I assume.

[X] A 'book' bound in soft leather, a red ribbon serving as a place-marker

I'm convinced by the "recording knowledge is important" argument.

Btw I've noticed a lot of double-posting in this thread; I'm pretty sure that's against the rules.

[X] A set of bejeweled, golden beads, about 150 in total.

[ ] A 'book' bound in soft leather, a red ribbon serving as a place-marker
-(Supposedly, this is something called a 'bible', whatever that means)

Knowledge is power.

[ ] A small wooden box, contained within is a single tooth resting upon a soft, red pillow
-(This is the tooth of somebody called 'Saint Julius the Veteran'.)

Christian lucky charm. Probably actually gives bonuses and stuff to Christians.

[ ] A set of bejeweled, golden beads, about 150 in total.
-(This is a rosary! Supposedly it helps with Christian cultivation?)

A nice gift to Gabriel. If he doesn't ask too many questions on where we got it from. (He will, at least in his own mind.)

[ ] A tiny suit of armor
-(This is apparently 'training armor'? For Pages?)

Might be useful if we want to decipher parts of Christian Cultivation. Man do they start warmaking young.

[ ] One of a dozen different swords
-(Eh, you'll just grab a random sword and get going)

We can probably make a sword. But they might have good quality swords. (Read: Steel/Equivalent)

[ ] A spiked hammer on a stick? What?
-(It's... some kind of polearm? A hammer as a weapon? What?)

A Warhammer! It's really good for killing other knights with. Or people who like armor.

[ ] One of several dozen sets of small wheels that look to be mounted on the back of a shoe
-(These are something called 'spurs'. These ones specifically are said to aid in movement?)

Roller skates! Zoom zoom zoom!

[ ] A long iron nail with odd letters covering it
-(This, apparently, significantly damages Christian Cultivation. Somehow.)

..Why do you even have this? Are you in need of fighting other Christians, Mr.Knight?

[ ] A vial of blessed blood
-(This is said to heal injuries or something)

Anyone, or just Christians? Would be good for Fabvir.

[ ] A small bundle of blessed bread
-(This is said to aid in cultivation)

Ah yes, one of the !!FUN!! options per the QM. Probably gives the Christian cultivation resource equivalent. Which might be, uh, problematic.

Knowledge, power, etc.

Interesting that getting loot this way *doesn't* incur negative Hamingja, though. Halla didn't get the bible and magic stuff from the priest she killed because it was negative Hamingja. What gives this time?

She thought Gerrit's bible was a weapon and a weapon gained from a dead enemy is a weapon that failed in its sole purpose, which is unlucky as hell.

Yeah, a tool gained as a trophy of war that wasn't actively in use though? Free game.

Incidentally, I think we might be able to (cleanly) handle a knight *now*, since the group have basically doubled in powerlevel/Orthsirr reserves from this excursion.

Hunting knights are probably also weaker than the knights who have a manor, more akin to knight-errants IMO.

What about Thievesbane, though?

Actually what do the Norse do with the weapons and armor of dead enemies in general?

We really didn't. We've doubled since we left home, not since the last fight, and orthstirr is the only thing to go up. Orthstirr is not power level...it's a component of power level, but not the whole thing by any means (combat pool is at least as important and Tricks matter a fair bit as well). We can take a knight a bit better than before, but I would say the odds of doing it 'cleanly' are still very low.

This, however, is pretty plausible. I'm not enthused even so. Four enemies on par with the squire we fought would not be a picnic, and the knight will definitely be more powerful than that (he was low third decade at most and knights have to be in the fourth decade), have a similarly powerful horse, and plausibly have his squire and the squire's horse with him as well.

What about Thievesbane, though?

There was actually some debate about Thievesbane and we decided it was okay because the guy we killed had stolen it, so it didn't like him, but we killed the thief, so it should like us.

Oh right, could we put our giant Iron Bell in our Fylgja?

For the emergency Iron Owldrop plan.

We can do that only by risking our Fylgja, and it's a 1d6 attack at most. I'm...a tad skeptical of setting that up. In the long run, the Fylgja Drop plan is solid, but I think it needs a throwing -weapon Trick put in the fylgja to support it as well as a defensive Trick.

All that said, sure, I'll add the bell to the fylgja, because why not? (EDIT: And added.)

So yeah, does anyone have any Bonus Dice they're willing to spare to rig against a Knight Fight on the way out?

If they call us a coward for this we could just kill some

Soooo, what are people's plans to do with The Loot (TM)?

I'm currently thinking,

3 oz Silver - Unveil Abjorn's Fylgja (if he had a Dog Fylgja he would have, doubled, intercept rolls, which is pretty good)
9 oz Silver - For our children's Fylgja (if Seeing Eyes doesn't automatically unlock them)
?? oz Silver - See if the Seeress can see the 'real' owner of Thievesbane, so we can actually return it to them? (+Relations to random person)
?? oz Silver - Forging supplies?
?? oz Silver - Hire trainers? Rainy days?
