FATHER QUEST - A Cartoon Network: Villains Victorious CK2-Style Quest Cross Over

[X] DOUBLE DOWN

Sure the Government *might* drop their contract with us but I'll hazard a guess that they'll keep it. That they'll desperately try to spin things. To keep their beloved Patriarch because they need Father's power and support.
I dunno about this one. The American public just watched us start BAKING CHILDREN. And a good chunk of the country is no longer running on the cartoon logic that made it, if not ok, ignorable.

Eh. The American Public will have seen that no matter what option is picked anyway.

Besides the American Public loves evil Brits. Hollywood has taught America to expect British people to be evil at this point. It's fiiiiiiiiine.

Man, I'm thinking of changing my vote because I have no idea what the hell "Mild Bobby Sauce" even means. Probably nothing good or just something substantial.

I feel like the guy in that one meme who doesn't know which button to press.

Mild Bobby Sauce is basically "The Safe/Boring" answer. We don't lose a lot, but we also don't gain a lot, at least not without proving the point down the line.

I picked DOUBLE DOWN because it seemed most in character, and Father getting angry is always a treat. Plus all that stuff about honesty being the first step of change or something.

Plus Father wouldn't deny it, Father wouldn't believe it, Father is the type to erupt about it. This is an in depth look at the bottomless pit of rage that is Father, I expect him going on a real proper rant will melt the set.

I truly think this is the best option.

Also, I'm not saying that it's a bad choice, if a bit jokey-like, don't I don't think we'd get anything noteworthy out if I Don't Know. Outside of maybe getting ridiculed/talked down by Moltar a lot harder than the others, nor it doesn't answer the question Hank provided. Plus, it doesn't feel very..In Character for father to say, fighting children has been his livelihood for I'd say 20 or so years, he'd at least have something to say about it.

I'm worried that Double Down will make everyone assume we're a supremacist; he basically stated in the speech that he went against the Gems because they're other and DD would mean telling everyone that he considers the youth of his own species as other as well

It feels to me that the Double Down choice risks pissing away our chances of being able to ally with even somewhat negotiate with any non-adult-human, in addition to those who avoid or oppose us for moral or publicity reasons

Though, whatever happens, I'm sure that this whole roast is worth at least 9 rage points bringing us up to Blistering, though honestly I could see it being worth enough to make us reaching Burning too
51 - 60 = Blistering Anger: -5 Diplomacy, +5 Martial. Father is in a war state, and will try to bring his fight right to the enemy.
61 - 70 = Burning Rage: -10 to Diplomacy and Intrigue, +15 to Martial. Father is practically ready to explode. He's had it up to here with this cockamamy chicanery, and it better stop RIGHT NOW.

Though, we don't really have much to use it on; the only action worth note would be a bit much:

[ ] Challenge Jasper
DC 150
Your previous encounter with the hulking gem warrior known as Jasper may have opened up a way for you to make a more tangible contribution to the fight. If you can tie up half of their leadership brawling mano a mano, the coordination of the rank and file might falter long enough for human forces to make a push. Of course that relies on Jasper falling for it. And on your own victory. You may have beaten her last time, but this time she'll be ready for you.

Admittedly, from the wording, it's actually very likely that the DC would be lowered; she publicly called Father out so there wouldn't be any trickery involved

It wouldn't surprise me if Challenge Jasper only required the combat roll because they both want the fight

Though, if we did this I would want to wait at least one turn so we could take the Contain Gem POWs action sicne it might help us figure away to interfere with the escape mechanism

if we do get to that Rage point, it'll be helpful in the future if she does come and fight us. Just sucks we have to do it alone, without Izzy or anyone else's help. We could probably use our magical artifact to help, but outside of that..

Eh. I mean, maybe, but, honestly, tonight has clearly shaken him. To be honest, I don't know if he's ever devoted serious thought to why he fights children beyond...That it's the family business. Basically, at least in my case, the intended subtext is "I don't know ANYMORE", or, rather, "I thought I knew, but, now that I think about it...Why AM I doing this?" Introspection is not a concept the man is used to.

This is where we're at right now.

  • [X] "Rationalize" It (Briefly)
    [X] I DON'T KNOW
    [X] DOUBLE DOWN
    [X] kids are jerks
[X]I DON'T HATE ALL CHILDREN....JUST THE ONES WHO TRY TO DEFY ME....USUALLY WITH A GLOBAL ORGANIZATION
-[X] Explain how all your life, from your father being a tyrant and your brother having founded this generation of KND, you've always been in a position to fight in this battlefield.
--[X] Punishing naugthy children is what you do. It's not even why you consider yourself a villain. It just comes naturally to twart their ridiculous schemes. Because children are dumb and don't know better. And is there anything wrong with loving what you do?
---[X]AND YOU WON. They are gone and you are still here. You need not to punish any children who know their place. Who are happy to become teenagers and working adults and don't get in your yard.
----[X] To the listeners and Moltar. Explain how every goverment and every rulling organization in history has always been evil. Because that's just how the world has always been. Villains figthing each other for control. You are EVIL, there is no doubt about that. Because above all you look for CONTROL. TO MAKE ANY PLACE YOU CALL YOUR OWN BE EXACTLY AS YOU WANT IT TO BE. TO CRUSH ANYONE IN YOUR PATH. TO TAKE WHAT YOU PLEASE AS IT SHOULD BE YOURS.
-----[X]It doesnt matter how many alien invasions you stop or how often you work for the goverment. You will always do it for your own sake. And at the end of the day, isn't that desire for selfishness the most important thing for any tyranical monster existing in this forsaken world?

[X] I DON'T KNOW
-[X] Maybe I just hate the cowardly weakling who couldn't stand up to his father, and I'm taking it out on them!
--[X] Maybe I resent that most of them have parents who don't make them work in their factory at 10!
---[X] Maybe I'm upset that all it took to stop the old man the first time was a memory-eraser that already had blueprints ready, and my brother figured it out in less than a week, but they failed so badly nobody even remembered the KND existed until he revived it!
----[X] Maybe I've just turned old and mean like Pappy always wanted, the ungrateful wretch! I spend my whole life trying to follow in his footsteps, and he tossed me aside like old newspaper! So why am I still doing this?!
-----[X] I don't know, spite?!

If nothing else, spinning the Patriarch as coming from a long line of villains who became a Hero out of spite against Grandfather(even the hero name Patriarch implies writing his father out of his life in a way Father doesn't) shouldn't be too hard.

Honestly, I wavered between this and Double Down, so I went with a rantier version of the former.

I want honesty and change.
The Doubling Down option doesn't mean change.

Maybe it's just me being autistic, but I don't know how people came to the idea that 'Doubling Down' means a step forward for Father's character development. Also, it's not him being honest, this rant the option presents comes from wanting to cling to his childish self that refuses to grow up when the world around him is changing.

My brother in cartoon based questing, it is the only option where he is actually honest and you cannot change a problem that you don't admit is there, of course it is the one that leads to character change.

Blowing up in a rant is the only one that has him directly acknowledge that he does hate children, which is true, and that he hates them because they did not have the absolutely nightmarish 'childhood' he did under grandfather, which he did personally suffer through and never got to be a child because of.

Every single other vote tries to avoid spilling the beans that he hates kids and never had him acknowledge the reasons why.

I have to agree with Travler here. Thinking Double Down in any way makes Father a better person is inconcievable, I might as well be an alien from a different planet with how baffling I find the argument. I'll be fair, and say that both Rationalize and I Don't Know showcase the exact same aversion to growth.

He already knows why he hates children, this is just him coming mask off to the world. How, in any way, does voicing your commitment to evil, burning every bridge with good and moral people, constitute positive character development? The only ones who are going to go "hella based" are the scum of the Earth.

The idea that you have to admit your problem to grow past it is fortune cookie nonsense. There is one, and only one, step to solving a problem, solving the problem. If you're doing something evil, stop. If you're doing something inefficent, change your strategy. If you're reputation as a villain is getting shot in the back of the head, make an insane rant illustrating just why you're an irredeemable piece of human garbage.

Making your problems other peoples problems is the mark of a child who has no self control or self awareness. It's the mark of a baby who can't accept responsibility for their own actions, or recognize that wrongdoing occurred. It's the mark of a snivelling, moral, coward.

There is no right process. There is no ideal sequence of events. You do, or you don't. You try, or you don't. You improve, or you don't.

You suck it up. You repress. You do what you have to do. That is what being an adult means. That is what being a grown up means. To ignore your own feelings, for the sake of others. To suffer, because to make others suffers is a pain far worse.

It's no great sacrifice. It's just basic decency.

It's a lesson a little girl like 362 learned, and because of her capacity to grow, and evolve, she managed to save at least some of her friends. Keep them alive. Keep them safe.

It's a lesson a vile villain like Stickybeard learned. To see that he was unsatisified with his life, that he needed to break his own cycle of mediocrity, and come out as a new man, on a new adventure.

It's a lesson Monty learned, when he gave up the 2x4 tech and the Book of KnD, willingly becoming decommissioned even though he could have kept his memories, because raising Nigel right was an indescribably precious blessing to him he valued more then any gumball or soda pop.

It's a lesson I value.

Bro do you actually believe that? Like personally I mean. Because I have seen more than one person have nervous breakdowns because they tried to live like that. Every single one of them says that is a horrible mindset. You genuinely concern me.
