You know just an observation but if we fail it again we should just stop poetry since well ic Halla would just hate it at that point. Like seriously all attempts at it have failed so she would just not have motivation for it. Plus we could just you know ask our thrall to help with that or hire a person for it.

Does he know the Honed Trick?
General Tricks
-Hone Trick (Cost 1): Coats your held items in orthstirr, adding an extra dice to every action as long as enough orthstirr is fed to it.
If not we should try to teach him.
Another die while crafting may not be the most, but it would probably be usefull.

Wow. Poetry gains seem to be cursed. We'll keep trying until we get there, though. On the bright side, we're now within 'adult warrior' range on both Hamr and Hugr, which is nice. And Halla is into Abjorn to the surprise of nobody...we'll definitely need to talk to him about that. Hope it goes well.
Next turn see if Randy (who is described as a good storyteller, maybe she also is a good poet?) and/or mom (she could like us picking up an interest that isn't explicitly about fighting) could help and put our training dice to it as a 'Halla is frustrated and tries to push through' thing?

Um how do we know dad and our older brother doesn't know about honed already?
Steinarr knows it, as does Eric, though he struggles with it. Eric's too cautious to utilize Hone to its fullest potential.

Hone is typically regarded as the 'dividing line' between a warrior-who-farms and a farmer-who-fights. It's also typically left to the individual to figure out, though not always.

He does not, just one of those things that get lost when things aren't codified.
Well, there's an idea!

Swift-swung, sinew-seeking, sharp striker
Narrowly knifes, not enough, never
Shaping steel, smashing stone, smith's-striker
Hardly hammers, hardly hits, hopeless

Rather wrap in regard, reave with respect
That the three-thain-thread throughout

Halla sighed. Reading back what she had written, she actually found herself confused about how the Honed Trick worked. This was not the place for clever wordplay. No room for misinterpretation, she needed to explain what was happening so that even a novice could do it.

Besides, this was awful. Even if she had the most powerful tricks known in it, no one would learn them if it meant enduring her poetry. Maybe prose, next time. When she got around to the next time.

The first draft of Halla's Manual joined the rest of the kindling.

Summer 2/Witch Visit 1.1
Thump, thump, thump goes the knocker.

Step, step, step are the Witch's answering movements.

The door opens and you are prepared this time, though it is a near thing.

"Welcome back, Halla Steinarsdottir." The Witch's sultry voice greets you at the door, soon followed by the Witch herself. "Have you thought of a ritual you wish done?"

"Yes," a bead of sweat appears on the Witch's brow, "I'd like to be able to see my fylgja."

The sweat droplet disappears and she smiles, her teeth like marble stones, "Ah, a noble pursuit. Come," her fingers, long and slender, curl as she gestures for you, "I have prepared a site."
Be brave, girl, for we enter a place of power in a Witch's presence.
You follow along, slight hesitance in your step. After all, you don't know this woman, no matter how... how you find her. She could very well be leading you to your demise!

Your hand finds your axe and resolute determination dashes the coiling fear aside. Should this be your end, it will find you with courage-filled heart and not a drop of doubt in your soul.

You follow her around her home, through a cavern's opening, and down a flight of stairs built from the ash's roots.

You find yourself in an underground chamber with a roof made from dirt and roots. The Witch has you stand in the center while she fetches her staff. Upon returning, she hands you a pair of leaves with a pale paste rubbed on one side.

"And what am I supposed to do with these?" You ask, heart sinking as you know what must be done.

"Put them in your eyes, and keep them open." She stresses, and you scowl. With a heavy sigh, you press them to your open eyes.

It stings, really bad.

Your teeth grind together as the paste seems to seep into your body. The Witch starts chanting something, but you're too distracted by the sensation in your eyes to make sense of the words.

After what feels like an eternity, the leaves fall away and you lay eyes on...

AN: And here we are.

The Raven's prophetic dreams are not guaranteed to happen, nor will they be very clear. They are more... possibilities rather than fate. After all, the only fate that binds a Norseman is the one bound at birth.

Hugr capacity refers to the number of muna, hugareidir, or seidr spells you can have readied at any given time.

25-minute moratorium.

Dad did emphasize ending fights faster.

Oops. Just saw the moratorium.

Hmm the owl is really good for Hugr gains which we do have a starting boon in.

Dog seems fine for if we were a hunter and tracked prey which I assume the intercept results mean.

Wolf is definitely great for damage tho which seems like a thing Halla would like.

(Actually like three of these animals feel like they fit our friends and Aki. Aki with the Raven and being able to see stuff, Stiggr with the dog and being the best archer feels thematic and Abjorn with the bear for his height and just tanking those hits for us)

I'm thinking one of these. The wolf damage buff is self evidently useful as a warrior, while the Owl bonus to number of possible spells known is really great if we want to lean into the witch thing. I'm honestly pretty down for either. Bear and Hound are also solid...I'm less than enthralled with Snake and Raven.

These both look fun

Scandinavian Nanoha! If giant magic lasers can't solve all your problems, you simply don't use enough of them.

EDIT: One of these is gonna win and I very slightly prefer Wolf.
