As someone going through Ramadan right now, believe me when I say it's not interefering with everyday life. I'm just constantly cranky and hangry because I'm fasting every day for a month.
Does stuff not get scheduled for different hours over there during Ramadan? I know my partner, who is a professor, made available an alternate exam slot this Monday so that observant students could take the test after sundown and a meal, as opposed to making them take it in mid-afternoon when they'd been without food for eight hours. I figured that in a Muslim-majority society there'd be more stuff like that.

If you're curious, you can check out this article for my country. Gist of it is that working hours are reduced by two hours and several establishments change their working hours. You're still expected to tough it out, because the pain and suffering is part of the process. You're supposed to understand what it's like to live hungry. There are ways to mitigate the hardships though, like Suhoor, where you eat/drink right before sun up to make sure you have enough for the day.

I'm curious what the Empire's name would become if it stopped being and Empire but didn't lose most of its provinces in the process. It can't be called Sigmarland or anything like that either because Sigmar as a deity and Sigmarism as a religion is so intrinsically bound to the concept of Empire that he would have to fall in prominence at least during the actual republic-establishing revolution.

Maybe there's an Classical name for the region north of the mountains from Tileas perspective? That could then be adapted.
It would probably just keep the name. Not that it's likely to ever stop being an Empire without collapsing, but names aren't required to be accurate, and people don't like change (also change like that is expensive) so it doesn't happen. If the UK were to suddenly stop being a monarchy, I'd be surprised if we bothered to stop being the UK.

It's Easter*, Passover, and Ramadan all at once. Just a giant religious observance pileup.

*For Western Christians -- Eastern Christian Easter is a week afterwards this year.
It's fairly common for multiple religious observances to occur at around the same time. Especially around the equinoxes and the solstices. It's because they're easily observable phenomena.

I mean, Passover and Easter occurring at around the same time would rather make sense. Easter is intrinsically linked to Passover.

I don't like "Plan Disregard WEBMAT, Acquire AP (Fatherless)" and keep hoping something else will catch on, but I hate the winning plan more. I may have to vote for "Fatherless" if there's not a change in the next day or so.

EDIT: Uggg. I guess I'll edit an approval vote for it into my vote post since my dreams of a Shadow HQ in the Fief now seem completely out of each and it's not otherwise complete unreasonable.

Perhaps this is not very on topic, but I have to thank the ones who recommended the Witcher to me in this thread. Witcher 3 is captivating me for the moment, To absolutely no one's surprise, Ciri's my favorite character. Now if only I can get over how much I don't like Geralt's voice acting.

Is it too rough/growly? Also, Witcher 3 is definitely an amazing game. Very immersive. Though some of its story/character beats are a bit weaker compared to Witcher 2.
Warmest recommendations for the Witcher's 3 expasions, too. They are both amazing.

He sounds emotionally constipated even when he's endearing. It completely ruins the vibes. It feels like he has one setting regardless of what lines the VA is reading, which makes the whole scene weaker even when the writing is exquisite. It doesn't matter if he's talking about a miscarriage or talking to a goat, he sounds the same. I like him, but it reduces the points I would give him as a character.

I kinda bounced off of the Witcher, but I'm not sure why. Just didn't grab me.

There's certainly no Easter here, but now that we're halfway through Ramadan, Garangao is on the horizon. I'd be surprised if anyone's even participating in that here. It's a holiday for kids to dress up and ask for sweets.

It sounds like, on the surface, Garangao is similar to Halloween in the US?

Similar, but the difference is we don't dress up in costumes or anything, and it's not about scary stuff. Garangao is all about looking pretty and fancy. Lots of people dress in black and gold to emulate the Kaaba for example, but the goal is to look good. The sweets are also different, but that is to be expected.

Eh, its hard to communicate how fitting it feels for him to me. Mostly cause I grew up with the books I guess. The moments when you see him visibly breaking under strain tend to be rather impactful.

Fair. If the holiday ever gets secularized, I know a TON of people over here who would love to have a costuming holiday in the summer.

Yeah, i can understand how that can be jarring when you are mostly unfamiliar with the premise. And even if you are, people that find it nearly impossible to emote are perhaps not the most captivating protagonists.

[X] Plan: No Recruitment

May approval vote disregard if fatherless starts catching up as if we are going to recruit I'd like to finally put the father to use.

Hm. I've been considering different hobbies to present in an omake about Eike in the College, and I came across the perfect game to transplant into Warhammer. Does anyone know of a really good beginner's guide to Magic the Gathering? I have an idea.

I could go over the basics with you if you like.

I went back over the last few updates and I find this to be an amusing contrast:
You nod. "Hopefully any survivors have learned a lesson on sticking their noses where they aren't welcome. By the way, I took the lower half of the leader Dryad, thinking that it would make a good material for enchanting - she was an Ulgu wielder, after all. Would that be correct?"

"It would have only existed since the Dryad manifested so it wouldn't have the centuries or millennia of being steeped in a Wind that makes things like dragon bones so useful, but it would have been created with the conscious intent of creating wood that would be extremely amenable to the flow of their Wind. It would be better suited to fine control than raw power."
"Broadly correct. It was a Dryad warweald aligned with Coeddil."

He coughs into his flagon and only just manages to keep from propelling some of it across the crowd. "Drycha?"

"Who?"

He blinks at you as he wipes his mouth. "Was it led by an Ulgu Branchwraith?"

"Yes, but I didn't get her name before I cut her in half."

He stares at you for a while, and sighs when he realizes you're serious. "I think we need more kestrels. Can you tell me the full report?"
Cadaeth didn't know that it was Drycha we split in half, but I find it amusing that Cadaeth didn't even blink at Mathilde's feats while Paranoth did an actual spit take. So much for his sagely old man image. He should be better acquainted with Mathilde's deeds!
