Also, why mushrooms for the paper? It's more efficient if we solved the Chamon and Shyish problem first, then just wrote a book on it. Two writing actions as opposed to six or eight.

Honestly, I want to actually get started on putting all the Waystone knowledge together. Especially if we can wheedle out an Ice Witch or two as reward for helping here. Maybe a Hag Witch. The Brettonians can wait, and we've got a lot of knowledge otherwise.

I'm sure getting a Damsel would be helpful.

But recruiting a Damsel would probably take at least two turns (one for the initial meeting, one for the action to pay them) and I think it's about time we get the whole shebang rolling.

-[] Attempt to bring a non-Order magical tradition into the Waystone Project (To be deterined)

Reasoning:

If we get Ice witches automatically we might be able to pivot to Hags, if not we should make use of the witches since we have a lot of ins with them

Thoughts and sugestins are of course welcome, though I likely will not get around to making any replies before morning
I will once again point out that we don't know enough about any more non-Order magical traditions (except maybe Ice Granny's coven, not the ice witches in general, but this coven.) to make just going up to them a good idea.

Let's instead do the 'get to know' action with one of the magical Elf clans.

please?

Before I go to bed a quick mock up of the plan for the next turn, just to get the ball rolling

[] Plan Ignition
-[]Lay the foundations
-[] Coin: Gambler: Lay the Foundation
-[] Attempt to bring a non-Order magical tradition into the Waystone Project (To be deterined)
-[] WEB-MAT: Hire someone as a full-time Gyrocopter pilot (Adela)
-[] EGRIMM: Shrine of Manslieb
-[] MAX: Learn Enchanting.
-[] Attempt to capture an Apparition (optional: specify which)rning: Enchanting
-[] Branulhune's ability to disappear and reappear at a thought allows entirely new forms of combat. Continue to work on them.
-[] Write a paper: Start on the Wind Shrooms (1/2)
-[] EIC: Investigate what trade goods the Eonir might be willing to import from the Empire. (NEW)
-[] Seek an agreement with a Cult to have access to their libraries (Verenans)

Reasoning:
  1. We need to get that going and I think the action is important enough that we do want divine luck on our side, a bad roll here could set us back years and we are dealing with people who have not for the most part interacted with others of divergent magical traditions at all, even with all te goodwill in the world there will be challanges. Recall when our Patriarch and Ktragg had it out over the tower and there was just the two of them there
  2. If we get Ice witches automatically we might be able to pivot to Hags, if not we should make use of the witches since we have a lot of ins with them
  3. We have seen now the limits of gyro flying without a pilot can be to our detriment in cases were time is of the utmost importance
  4. Studies into the gods seem to be right up his alley and we might get some insight into him at the same time
  5. This way we can windherd with Gold magic in the future, there are all sorts of useful spells on that list and on top of that it is complementary to his own skills
  6. I am leaving out Johann for this one because Action Points are such that I cannot think of two more such Web-Mat options such that we could get the full benefit of the institution. I think he would be fine left to his own devices in the city for one turn, more so than any of the others because he integrated well
  7. Nazgul? Nazgul. :V More seriously we have seen time and again how we end up in duels where having some reliable back up that it also expendable would be really good and who knows in time we might even expand that with things like Hag lore.
  8. Overwork, because we can do it for free this turn: I think that given the fact that we have been in two duels to the death in the span of six months we shouls spend at least a little time on self-improvement
  9. Since it does not looks like we will see the riders right we should take some care of the backlog, this stuff could save the lives of journeymen of all colleges, not a good as the towers of calamity, but still in the same vein
  10. Sounds like a gun actions and we could always use more of a boost to income
  11. This almost won last turn and by now we will have a decent collection of books to show off, I think we should bite the bullet

Thoughts and sugestins are of course welcome, though I likely will not get around to making any replies before morning
I feel like we should take one more turn to approach some of the more diverse magical groups in the old world. That's not to say I don't think we should make no progress on this project, but as of right now we'd still mostly be relying on the elder races to bring most of the knowledge.

I think we need to approach the damsels, maybe alongside Egrimm, and offer to help them deal with their orc problem.
We should get the Ice Witches onboard I agree, and I also agree about the Hag Witches. But the other magical tradition we need to approach is the Hedgewise.
They're one of the oldest magical traditions around and one that is distinctly human, and they also share our God which might help smooth the approach.
If we get the Fang of Taalroth from Drycha, we can almost certainly swing bringing on the Cult of Taal, who likely have some knowledge as well.
We should probably have Johann start mapping out the leylines within the empire, he's uniquely suited to it because of his directional magesight, and he could cover a lot of ground very quickly.

And also, hell yeah let's make some Nazgul!

now that we know something is up with Pragg and we have been given the hint that Karak Varg might have stuff from the fire spire in the vault. it might be better to ask them instead.

"Bind" sounds like an absolutely hilarious way to commit suicide. So let's go with "ain't no kill like overkill" instead.

Truly the only option here that isn't super fun is counter/attack.
We can either blow them up, attempt to use a form of magic we have no experience with, or attempt to pursue them into another plane of existance

Oh, right, should we go get College books on Apparitions if we want to run around binding them? The Dwarves don't strike me as the sorts to know much about them, and I'm not sure if the Eonir group those with forest spirits in the mundane section rather than in their magical section.

I wouldn't call them civilians. You don't need to be professional military to be military. A mustered militia is still a military force, as are all the traditions of citizen-soldiers.

The local woodsmen that aren't a part of their rotas aren't a part of Kislev's military in any way. They're here because the Tzar personally and directly ordered them to be, not because they're a part of a militia. You could argue that technically that makes them conscripts and therefore they are military, but at that point a distinction is being made that has nothing to do with the question I was answering.

Honest question: if people think that countering the TP would be very difficult to do (especially in time), why would trying to lay a binding be any easier?
E: This is coming from someone who hasn't read all the pages of discussion, so apologies if it was answered earlier.

its not. people just think it'd be cool, without really caring about practicality.

You know, looking back on this whole Kislev arc, I can't help but feel really bad for Drycha in a meta sense. Don't get me wrong, I am fully on board with Dragonflasking her to oblivion and then rendering any remaining large chunks left to sawdust with our sword. Yet, I see as far back as when we scried on her with the hag, she has just been getting utterly shafted by the dice, and not just her, but the myriad of forces working with her as well.

Its like watching a lion about to pounce on a baby gazelle, and right as it leaps towards its prey, the gazelle trips and fumbles to the floor and the lion soars right over it, off the edge of a cliff, and into a valley filled with cacti, poison ivy, and snakes.

I'm happy that the target got to live, but I can't help but feel sympathy for something experiencing such horrendous luck.
