I know you are the expert here and most certainly compared to me, but I read the passage you quoted as implying that the beastmen don't realize that the gave come from the village.
That is a possible interpretation, but the phrasing says that "they always get adopted". I find it hard to believe that every single situation in which a Gave pops up, none of the Beastmen ever witnessed the act of the mother laying the child on the forest floor. Even if a human were to give them the child, they would still see it as a gift from the Dark Gods considering the mutation was the work of the Gods. I think Beastmen just enjoy raising mutants or something.

[X] Plan Searching in the Shadows

I haven't read the full discussion, but this seems closest to what I want. The underworld turbulence would be useful for future reference, and doing that action now is cheaper than doing it later.

In what way? I am not oposed to the idea, it could be useful, but your comment seems to me like it will be helpfull after the current mission is done.
Because we only have 2 actions left before the next killing, so if the action is not useful here and now, i don't see how it becomes cheaper to do now rather than later.

I know this is kind of offtopic, but I was exploring Age of Sigmar lore recently and I was kind of happy to realise that Ranald survived as the Prince of Cats.

I always believed in him. He's pretty hard to kill.

Anyways, my vote:
[X] Plan Ambush

[X] Plan Searching in the Shadows
-[X] Scour the city: The Longshanks
-[X] Research: Underworld Turbulence

- There will be a final vote for what to do at the scheduled time of the murder. You don't need a readying action for Regimand or any other Wizards you might have recruited to be able to act on that night.
Uh, I'm way behind in the discussion, but going by this if we don't bring in someone, Mathilde is going to be facing Alberich with only Regimand as backup. And Alberich might be up to "Everchosen candidate" combat levels. We should not be so overconfident of victory here. Mathilde is anything but certain to be able to survive a combat encounter at that level.

Could we please, please, please bring in someone to help us fight a possibly greater-demon (or whatever it's called) level opponent? A bunch of witch hunters, Kasmir, heck, we could even bring in Egrimm. He doesn't have to deal with Alric in the town over, we just need him to show up and blast some chaos with light magic. Just someone so Mathilde doesn't go barreling into a stronger opponent with her sword raised high... again... Basically, I would very much like Mathilde to not die and encounters like this upcomming fight are exactly the circumstances where that's almost happened multiple times in the past.

[X] Plan Longshank support
-[X] Scour the city: The Longshanks
-[X] Ready forces: Longshanks

[X] Plan Erimm on Blasting Duty
-[X] Scour the city: The Longshanks
-[X] Bring in someone else: Egrimm van Horstmann

Again, I haven't caught up on the discussion, so I apologize if there's some unseen/obvioux flaw in my post or the plans I hastily threw together here.

[X] Plan Hammer and Anvil

There's nothing wrong with being careful and worrying about Alberich's power level, but I would like to state that Alberich being an everchosen candidate is only speculation and definitely not a certainty. Also, even if he was, chances are he would need to finish his ritual to be fully blessed and granted the powers necessary to reach the vaunted level of Higher Daemon. He still hasn't finished his Dedication yet.

This is not saying that it's not wise to bring in backup or anything, or that he won't be dangerous or capable of some ridiculous stuff, but I am saying that you're probably overestimating his current power level. We're also not going in alone, the Longshanks are Witch Hunters and we have Regimand to back us up. Worst comes to worst we work with Alric.

If we run into him while scouring the city our backup will be the longshanks. Don't underestimate these guys, witchunters have done the job that greys and lights do nowadays for millenia. If we don't find him then our backup will be Alric, the light patriarch who has had 8 months to fortify a spa full of holy water.

If Bagrian is any indication, some Taalite priests are also as powerful as a Patriarch. Of course, I doubt we'd get a big shot like that on such short notice.

The two of you stare at each other for a while, each waiting for the other to vanish first. Then you both realize at about the same time that you'd both tried the same double bluff, actually coming to the table in person but wrapped in an Illusion to make it seem like you were an Illusion. Without speaking or making eye contact the two of you stand from the table and walk away.
This is hilarious. The apple truly doesn't fall far from the tree.

Alrich's plan may not be compatible with killing Alberich. It's possible Alrich is capable of locating Alberich but would rather disrupt the ritual on his own, without backup, and in full view of his patrons. That's completely different from riding out to the nearby city with Mathilde, where he won't have any of his preparations ready and will have to share credit. He simply might not help us and attempt to claim the glory on his own.

I have a feeling Mathilde is less likely to do these tricks on Eike if (let's be real here, when) she takes her up as apprentice. Well, she already did something kind of similar by crushing her hopes and dreams telling her of how many hiding spots she missed in the library, but I think she's less likely to do illusion shenanigans.

I've actually very curious on what Mathilde brand teaching would look like. We saw glimpses with the Ducklings, but they weren't her fulltime students. These last few updates have made me excited to see what kind of dynamic Boney comes up with for Mathilde and Eike.

@Boney If we scour the city with the Longshanks will that also count as mobilising them when the time to plan for the murder comes around?

I'm not sure what you mean here, I said Alric would be our backup if we don't find Alberich in time. Because Alberich will come to him, no riding out needed. I also don't really care about Alric claiming the glory enough to be willing to sabotage him in the middle of stopping a chaos ritual. If we don't find Alberich we should just hide outside the spa and prepare to help Alric if he gets in trouble or it looks like Alberich will escape.

I have a feeling that her teaching will borrow something from the dwarf way of doing things, after all she did assimilate pretty hard, so expect grumbling at the plaitling. :V

I find it hard to believe that defeating Alberich would catapult Alric back to power. The first is that sure it's neat that he protected a family of nobles I guess, but they're the most hated noble family by the Colleges. The second is that 5 of them already died, and we have it on record that at least one of them died while Alric was on watch, which is a degree of failure that Mira can spin. The third point is that while Alric was off galivanating across the country desperately looking for something to do, Mira has been consolidatiing her influence for more than a year and has been the effective leader and upper management of the Order while Alric was busy protecting a family consisting of like... 18 people or something.

No matter how I look at this, I cannot see how Alric can jump back into his former position without conflict just because he finished this job. Whoop de doo, you killed a single Daemon. How about you look at all that Mira has done over the past year or two you've been struggling to find a job? Alric being able to blackmail the Empress would have definitely catapulted him to power, but we now know that that isn't an option because it isn't a Ritual of Vengeance.
