Anywhere to look to find really good picture refs of Dwarven furniture and more civilian architecture. This is relevant to the quest for something I'm working on.
Shout out to stimmy bucks meaning I can get this done lmao

So I updated the multi-action plans to reflect the death of tongs, moving them to plans with a death sentence.

As for this vote, I have little preference.

Spiders Giant Enough To Eat Small Children should not mix with Small Children.

Of course, the We are far too sophisticated to actually do it...but it's a little morbidly amusing that between an Eff-Huge Dragon and Giant Spiders, we seem, on the surface, to be doing our best to traumatize Eike.
I have not met a single child who would be anything other than amazed and in rapture at the idea of a giant talking spider-friend.

As far as I'm aware, GW's never really covered the civilian side of things in great detail for non-humans. For furniture, the way I'd go about it is to research IRL Medieval German furniture and then have them made of stone or metal instead of wood. As for architecture, almost all Dwarven architecture is underground or inside mountains. I'd take inspiration from the various depictions of the Mines of Moria from Lord of the Rings, or from the Dwarven battle maps in the Warhammer: Total War games.

Alas the Tongs took quite the hit here. Looks like Mathilde got over focused on necromancy method which forces things along and creates dhar. It actually looks like her necromancy knowledge hurt more than it helped in the end.

We know that different magical winds can work together in high concentrations without creating dhar (like the ash storms) so I hoped Mathilde would take some inspiration from there. I suspect that would be the path to a proper success, starting by emulating natural multi-wind formations. Maybe someone in the future will give it a shot and be successful.

Went looking and found these. Just not a lot of art of dwarf places, and had to count thrones as furniture.

All of the options are pretty good. I just want to make sure that Belegar is a lock in.

Because of course Mathilde is going to show off her cute little future business partner to her girlfriend.

[X] Kazrik and the Dwarves of Karak Azul
[X] Edda and the Cult of Valaya

And these two seem like they'd give a good general representation of Dwarfs.

Oh my, I do believe this has become relevant again and merits reposting!

Lets make her meet all the weirdos. The big players will get everyone else's attention anyways, so Eike will have all the advice she needs for them.

As a thane, how much household guards in K8p does mathilda have?
10? 50?

Unlikr other stories of royalty who do somehing (for example Honor Harrington), Mathilda does not seem to have a bodyguard or a score of infantry to guard her tower and the super tower.

The important one.

[X] Edda and the Cult of Valaya
They're pretty cool dudes.

Thane by itself is an honorific title that basically means 'they lead Dwarves into battle and didn't fuck it up, and if need be can do so again'. This is distinct from being a Thane of Clan Whatever or Thane of Karak Wherever, which indicates someone that is currently actively a military leader.

Oh right, I should vote. Amazingly, I almost didn't vote for Kazrik. Then I remembered that voting Kazrik and the dwarves of Karak Azul means we might get more Kazador on screen. Which activated my ABVK principle: Always Be Voting Kazador.

Edit: oh, also, I hope this update cements that fucking around with the Tongs idea any further is an absolute non-starter. If we want to do more multi-Wind experiments, that's what Windherder is for.

You've never outright breached the Articles before, at least not by your understanding of them. But the only way to pursue this further would be to change that.
It seems to me that four other avenues worth looking into for inspiration are:
  • how exactly is the Wind bound in the seed inside Mathilde's hand affecting Mathile's flow of Ulgu?
    • Subthought: would Ulgu bound up tightly in an enchantment have a different result if Mathilde attempts to use it as tongs
  • The mindsets and control-methods alternate wind casters use
  • (windherder) The interplay of two winds when they're both under control by two wizards forcing them play nice
  • trapping the other Wind between Ulgu and a hard place. By which I mean using runic/runelord base repulsion on one side and Ulgu on the other instead of cocooning the other Wind in Ulgu. Maybe the reaction would be less violent that way.
Though the third and fourth aren't really directly useful unless they spark further inspiration and understanding. And the second seems to obvious for Mathilde to not have already thought of and tested it.

It isn't.

Subthought: would Ulgu bound up tightly in an enchantment have a different result if Mathilde attempts to use it as tongs

No.

The mindsets and control-methods alternate wind casters use

No difference.

(windherder) The interplay of two winds when they're both under control by two wizards forcing them play nice

Dhar.

It wouldn't.

Then what does Windherder do that's not dhar inducing?

Also, for the real "reach" option: non-binary Wind interactions. From a Doylist point of view I can't imagine it's really feasible because of how much of a can of worms that would be, but from a Watsonian point of view I can easily imagine a circumstance where two Winds are never stable but 3 or more can achieve a dynamic stability
