I know Tongs are dead, but I like it when the wizard lady does wizard things, so what if we used the magic of friendship instead? My immediate thought was that Ulgu folks use illusions and mind stuff, and with Windherding we can sort of do multi-wind casting, so what if we made a spell that lets us share the sensory experience of our Wind sense among collaborators? Or if that's too soul-deep to grab, something like a shared mental diagram of what each caster is doing that everybody can update as they cast something in the same physical space. If the mental map is accurate enough, and each collaborator is precise with the positioning of their Wind so that they don't intersect their strands of Wind, then we could be the progenitor to a multi-Wind magical tradition that's actually teachable to others without absurd Windherding powers. Maybe I don't have my lore pinned down, but Ulgu has plenty of illusion spells that can replicate sensory experiences, so it seems plausible that one could develop a mindlink-esque spell of this ilk by modifying an existing Illusion spell that fits the bill, and there's probably not many other human wizards that are better positioned to actually pull it off than we are.

That isn't super relevant right now though. A branch college project maybe? Just a thought.

It's why I suggested one of them paired with Gotri as a representative of the Radicals. Knowing about radical subculture within dwarf culture is a valuable perspective.
That's what I'm thinking. Honestly, while he isn't my first choice, Kazrik is a fine enough representative of Dwarven culture in general. So I could see him as either the only Dwarf we select, or coupled with a really unique Dwarven choice like Gotri or one of the Runesmiths.

I think it's closer to 'Eye-keh' in pronunciation, personally.
That seems correct. Though I won't be sure until we pull out the IPA symbols again and have a three page conversation about it. :V

I thought that taking care of the child if something were to happen to the parents is responsibility of godparent.
I know that non-religious folk often use it that way, but I think that a promise of literal fostering in case of tragedy is not required or even expected among people that take the original religiously oriented job of a godparent seriously. And in the mafia version it is a promise to "take care of" someone, but again I don't think literal child rearing is implied.

So what I'm hearing is that we pull a Regimand and take her under our wing when she hits senior apprentice? :V
How long does that take again? Because I would totally take Eike if we can. Sure, as people pointed out she's free to choose the others, but I can hope. Especially since her main wizardly example is... well, Mathilde. Heck, Wilhelmina might even order her to go to the Greys specifically so Mathilde can pick her up and still be influenced at least a little during her apprenticeship. She, after all, also has Mathilde as an example of Greys slipping the Vow of Poverty.
The EIC minder had tried to convince her to accept being carried or to wait while someone fetched the Wizard, but she insisted she's eleven, she's not a kid any more so she won't be carried and she's the guest so it's her responsibility to go meet Mathilde Weber in her home. Being carried on the back of an actual wolf is a completely different matter, of course.
Okay, that's more understandable. It probably helps that she was halfway up and starting to realize just how bad an idea that was, too. Either way, it's absolutely freaking adorable.

I am truly ashamed that i missed that orokos bit until now... well, that decides my votes :V

I hope y'all realize that Soizic and Eike *will* be meeting. I don't care what gets voted for, I can't pass this up.

I feel the need to see how Kragg handles his life being interrupted by a small human. Of course, with Eike as proper and behaved as she is she'll probably win him over. And if Kragg likes someone, nobody else has an excuse.

The thing we are voting for isn't 'who is she going to meet while she is here', it's 'which of the people she meets is going to shape who she becomes?'

So I think these are all good options.

This also makes what elven high Mages do even more impressive, as they weave multiple Winds together into single spells without producing this effect.

Interestingly enough, I think this experiment gives us the secret to high magic: the winds all need to be imprinted with intent by moving through a soul to avoid struggling against each other, even above and beyond the repulsion they naturally have. Like running a comb through hair before trying to braid it.

I... honestly would not like that.

nothing about his character, in canon or in quest, has him as the type to have any tolerance for kids, dwarf or human.

Mathy gets a lot of passes for all the shit she has done, but liking that one human is not the same as suddenly being a grumpy grampa.

For Eike I really prioritize a breadth of experience with different cultures, both because it seems like it could be fun and interesting for her, and because it to be useful for managing the EIC eventually. The EIC is starting to become a really big company, with its fingers in a large number of pies. The dwarves via the canal/8-peaks, the We via the same, but even beyond that there is a lot of potential for interesting interactions. There's the wood-elves via laurelorn if things go well with them, other human nations via border prices (who are even on the way by canal/river), bretonnia, kislev, tilea, estalia, etc. Influencing Eike to be friendly and comfortable with other cultures sounds like it would be really useful for her development.

"Interminable" means "not terminating," AKA "unending, neverending, or endless." It doesn't mean "can't be terminated." More on that below.

It really doesn't. The definition is "neverending" and other synonyms thereof, not "impossible to stop." It doesn't mean that it can't be stopped, it means that it doesn't end. I think you're being confused by looking at or thinking of the definition of "terminable" which is indeed "capable of being terminated" and inferring that since "in" is a negating prefix, therefore "interminable" must mean "not capable of being terminated." But the word is never actually used to mean that because as a language English thinks that being intuitively understandable based on knowing underlying principles is a failure condition. Seriously. Look in as many dictionaries as you want, you will never find a definition that matches that. If you use "interminable" to mean "can't be stopped," it is not a usage that fits the actual accepted definition of the word - it is a usage that fits a definition that is theoretically valid if you assume that English operates on a consistent set of rules, but that will be a definition that you have applied to the word yourself rather than an actual part of the definition or an alternate definition. Because English actually doesn't operate on a consistent set of rules, basically ever.

I mean first of all "neverending" can very much connote "impossible to end" even if it's not directly part of the definition. But also more to the point "slow" isn't actually embedded in the definition either - it's, again, circumstantial connotation at most. "Slowly but unendingly" (other than being ugly as sin) would in fact work just fine for conveying the intended meaning, IMO.

Interesting choices. I'd personally lean towards teaching her about the variety of kinds of life, language and culture that exist out there. The EIC is able to do much good in Stirland and East Stirland but it's reach is increasing while it's goals are the same.

Trade can be profitable for all involved. Make Sure that all of those profits go to Order.

the Halflings and Undumgi are both changed for being out of their original circumstances. The Undumgi banded together and settled down, finally at peace after enough adventuring for a lifetime. The Halflings here have left The Moot and the politics therein to do what a halfling wants to do most: grow food, feed others and be fed, drink well, and be safe. The Moot has much politics and sleight-of-hand, deception and intrigue. Here, they don't need to rely on such for safety and survival.

Karak Azul has been reconnected to the Karaz Ankor and is able to indulge in their gregarious extroversion as any Dawi would exult in having their hold finally reconnected to the Karaz Ankor. His (relative) jolliness is at odds with the generally grim and stoic air the Dawi carry themselves with. Which is not to say he's any less stoic or respectable, but that he's clearly more joyful than much of his kin for their hold has something to celebrate.

There's no generalization of a peoples which will hold well across them, since peoples will change behavior based on circumstance and context. While the general dwarf is stoic and serious, that's not a rule. While the general mercenary may have more loyalty to pay than prestige, more than a few simply had to live that life to survive. While The Moot is full of intrigue and subterfuge, the Halfling is not necessarily possessed of negative traits which Stirland projects onto them.

Which isn't to say The Lodge isn't intimidating, or that their agents aren't very effective, rather that in a different context the stereotypes that apply to Halflings don't actually include the negative thievery ones. Those habits were developed and refined in order to survive, and can be curtailed in order to survive as well.

The conditions and context in which people live can change their behavior, and increasing the wealth of goodly Order folk reduces the chance any fall to harsher means. That's who Ranald is to Mathilde. The last stop for those left out of formal society before proscribed gods and The Enemy start becoming involved. Not always pleasant, but much superior to any alternative for those cast out of society. Plus, we like to call Ranald to his better self. The one that steals souls otherwise destined for a fall, to trick and deceive The Enemy, to Protect souls from Oppressors and Tyrants, the one that wagers it all against Monsters and comes back twice as wealthy.

I don't know where Eike will go, or what she'll get up to, but I hope she grows up well <3

Has no one mentioned the possibility that we just accidentally recruited Mira herself, or did I just miss it? That "The pleasure will be mine." bit seems very suggestive, to me.
