On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

My first idea when it came to repair runs was that it was simply "redistributing" its existing material instead of creating new stuff from thin air but I admit that was probably more caused by my brain pre-emptively trying to counter ways for it to be exploited or violating physics to much but I suspect that those are not necessarily restrictions that should be applied to Warhammer magic.
Yea, given that "I was utterly convinced it would work" is enough to make solid metal rods shoot bullets, I think there is a lot more being violated than just mere conservation of energy.

I don't see 180 years as a grand obstacle for Valaya. If we were talking about anyone else, it might be reaching. But Valaya is a goddess, and has nurturing in her portfolio. The Ancestors have demonstrated the ability to reach through space, so I don't see it as that much of a stretch to attribute borderline prophetic foresight to Valaya when it comes to her portfolio

Sometimes it feels like the thread is about to spontaneously convert to Ancestor God worship...

For the record, I do not think any ancestor is capable of prophecy, that is the domain of wizards and daemons, there is even a Wind that specializes in it. Let's not devalue their domains and powers in favor of 'Ancestors are Most Awesome Ever'. Else I might start asking why Kairos is not able to design a better bolt thrower. After all knowledge and insight are part of its portfolio.

We only know one Ancestor's opinion on Fate and all that future sight stuff and it's quite clear:
We are only as bound as we wish to be. With enough Will, with enough effort, one can break the Yoke of Destiny, the Ties of Fate, and deny what was meant to be.

"Metal of mind and body. Bound to the earth and stone, who shuns the sky. As the Stormcallers and Bloodhunters before you, I name your role and all those who follow you Silverbearer. Delve into your craft, create that which will aid our flock, anger not The Ones who Are From Stone, and you shall bear my blessing until you break mine trust," their Lord announces, voice echoing through the Unseen Winds tinged with Sapphire and Diamond, but now with minute flecks of Gold.
I thought the Brana could only use Azyr and Ghur? With Chammon being the third wind? A Stormcaller is obviously an Azyr user and Bloodhunters are obviously users of Ghur.

I think Diamond should be changed to Amber.

Uh, eating that one Elder Ice Wyrm notably gave the KotS dominion over its associated Wind

Diamond is largely correct given how much ice the Brana love tossing around

Azyr, the Sapphire Wind, is what provided ice. Hysh is the Fuck Chaos Wind. Hysh is about Light and Thinking and Stuff.

Even if the Branakroki could use Hysh, which they do not, I checked all of the posts for mentions of Diamond or Hysh, soulcake still left out Amber.

Also, as I said, Stormcaller is what the Brana call Azyr mages while Bloodhunters are Ghur mages.

Er, Ice Dragons are Hysh, last I checked
Yah, but the Branakroki get those abilities from the Sapphire Wind, Azyr.

Azyr the wind of the heavens, fate and the future, of inspiration and that which remains outside of reach. Drawn skyward and into the air as it enters reality where practitioners see it as ethereal blue clouds, uncoupled by time and fate. Consequently, the spells within unsurprisingly revolved around the manipulation of fate, peering into the past, present and future, and the manipulation of weather events.

It's also the wind you have come into contact with most on a daily basis simply by virtue of the Brana's prevalent use of the stuff. So much of what you learn is simply adding more context to phenomena you've long observed. Though from what you've gathered after taking the time to read through it, not in the way the elves envisioned.

Not limited, most certainly not, but perhaps divergent is perhaps the better term.

Because, from your perspective at least, the Brana made far greater use of the more elemental effects of Azyr than they did the whole fate, fortune and woe business. From great swirling storms or concealing fog banks that could engulf entire armies, tossing great shards of ice or bolts of lightning from on high, to wreathing their forms in layers of crackling lightning and shearing ice the Brana had a strong understanding of how Azyr could manipulate the weather. By the Ancestors, the King of the Sky literally made the air in the highest slopes of the summit as breathable as ground level, if that wasn't mastery well you'd eat your shoe. It makes you wonder if their nature and the context around their growth either made the more esoteric methods of using Azyr more difficult or simply not as desired compared to the more immediate destruction and power Azyr can bring forth. But you imagine that such a thing could change as they make greater, more frequent contact with the elves.
As I said, the Brankroki use Azyr and Ghur. Which is known to them as Sapphire and Amber.

She's the first Griffon to discover how to use it I think. Hence why they're naming a new 'role' and saying go teach people this.
I know that she's the first one to be able to use Chammon, known to the Brana as the Gold Wind. Read the below.

Sapphire is Azyr, which we know Brana use, as I quoted above in fact. While Diamond is Hysh. We have never seen evidence that the Brana use Hysh before. While that line leaves out Amber, which is a Wind that the Brana use, much more than Gold certainly.

That is why Diamond must be a typo.

Okay, I think I got confused because I thought Diamond was prophecy and foresight and stuff. Which we've seen from them.

Here is the table for the Brana Wind names if you are wondering.

Fun table I had on hand regarding Brana names for the 8 winds, for the curious.

You sure?
The stories tell of his deeds, the beasts he slew and the might he gained not only for himself but for his people in their consumption.

"From the Rolling Thunder, mastery of the lightning and storms," a scene of the King's silhouette falling, bolt in claw, down onto the crippled mass of Kholek.

"From the Burning Frost, dominion of wind and hail," written under a mural depicting a scene of the Griffon fighting Skozulladrakk alongside a series of marks that looked more like a meteor than Otrek frankly.

And as you reach your destination, a mural, carved with his own massive talons, depicts the King's first and perhaps most influential prey. The downed corpse of a massive troll dwarfed only by its progenitor, and standing atop its broken body, equally wounded, the depiction of the lightning-quick and passionate marks of a Griffon, the silhouette of something overtop its skull.

"From the Firstborn Scion of Greed, thought and reason."
This seems to indicate it could go either way.

Granted, maybe the consumption is a bit more narrative than a straight one for one conversion, but still.

Why exactly do you think that the soulcake would flat out lie to us?

I just directly quoted Snorri saying that it came from Azyr. Several paragraphs of Snorri going over that he is the most experienced with Azyr because that is where the Branakroki get the majority of their magic from.

I suggest reading this several times because it is obvious you didn't.

And then read it again for good measure.

Well I'll go ahead and keep in mind that giving you the benefit of the doubt in the future is a mistake, which is why I said "It's up in the air" because uh....Soulcake doesn't have every detail hard notated, and that kind of background detail could've easily gotten muddled.

You know, rather than accusing him of being a straight up liar.

Which you've just rather obliquely done, in addition to accusing me of lacking reading comprehension.

Have you ever had to keep track of a large project's development over a long period of time, or is your attention span measured in minutes instead?

Now I'm not going to declare victory or anything, but I'm going to drop the subject because I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to apply the golden rule to you in the future. Until then.

[X] Plan Theme of Preparation
-[X] Theme for Both Runes: Two trials that are meant to teach the importance of repetitive, backbreaking and tedious labor in making a better world and how things which make that tedium easier are a blessing to be used to their utmost. Trials that emphasize the importance of details and the necessities of the day to day and how these runes improve that.

I don't know if there's any practical purpose to this, but I really want Snorri to make a tankard capable of holding several barrels worth of ale and challenge unsuspecting beardlings to try and finish it in one quaff.
Ahh, the old 'Drinking horn connected to the ocean' trick. If it's good enough to fool Thor, it's good enough to fool beardlings with.

Brings to mind that enchanted keg / mug of Bugman's in canon. That one where it's said that will replenish its ale once you finish drinking it.
