So...one thing I just realized about the whole "Mathilde is an honorary dwarf/has the soul of a dwarf" thing: once this becomes known to the Grey Order, they're going to make sure that Mathilde will never be put in a position where the whole "divided loyalties" thing ever becomes an issue. There would simply be far too much damage done to human/dwarf relations and dwarf/Colleges relations at risk. And that would be just as true for the Emperor and his subordinates--Mathilde is basically the second coming of Sigmar in terms of human/dwarf relations, and you absolutely do not risk the goose that lays golden eggs.

That might not be up to the Colleges - as we saw when we had that discussion about what to tell the Chancellor about the dwarfs when Marienburg threatened an embargo, sometimes the people who are higher up in the Empire's hierarchy can be sufficiently ignorant/shortsighted to override what others would consider good sense.

Yes, yes I do. Not only is going to check in on the matter something that might fit in a social vote (It doesn't really seem like it'd have much of a mechanical effect unless things really escalated into Grudge-declaring territory), but even if it wasn't it's not really something likely to need more than one or two AP - exactly the kind of thing that might get a plan variant or three dedicated to ensuring in the turn or two after the Expedition.

It's not a lock, but it's not exactly unlikely either.
 
We need Borek, so any plan to get to Dum has to include him.

Because he won't accept not seeing it for himself, because he knows the way better than anyone else, and because if Dum still stands, he should be able to convince them that this isn't a trick. Or at least do a better job than any of the rest of us.

This might be the one possible scenario where you'd ever get a Dwarf on a Shadowsteed.
 
Dum is supposed to be a big runemaster hold, if large numbers need to be evacuated they could probably help convert the tanks to new supply carriers. It would mean losing the cannon though, and would likely turn the trip home into a slow hell march.

Okay, I searched back for an unrelated reason and ran into this answer. I can't quite make sense of the math here.

We have 5 wagons, which carry enough food for the expedition for 2 weeks. Most of that food goes to the knights' steeds. Yet 2 wagons can get all of the knights home safely, a 3-week trip. Surely that must mean that 2 wagons can carry more food than 5 wagons?

If they're going home, they don't need to be in 100% combat-ready conditions and can stretch the food a bit further. By the time their readiness starts to really drop they'll be in High Pass where the chances of being attacked are low. That very much isn't the case if they continue on to Karag Dum.

No, if we do end up trying this, I think we need to leave the other wizards, or at least most off them, behind in order to protect the wagons.

That being said, @BoneyM, would something like this be acceptable:
[] Write-in: Take Borek, Asarnil and Deathfang, the cavalry, and Lillijana to scout out the situation at Dum while the steam wagons hold position.

By that logic as long as we preserve at least 2 wagons for the return trip (and get supplies from the Dolgan), we should be fine as well, right, assuming no additional mouths?

I think there are different amounts of food in the surrounding area to scavenge and hunt in front of us vs behind us.

Between the non-Knight members of the Expedition and the extra distance to go from Dum, you'd want at least three, and that would be cutting it fine.
